Join us for the First Annual Spooky Sprint 5K! This event is
fun for the whole family and we guarantee a wicked good
time! All kids registered for the Spooky Sprint will receive a
trick or treat bag at check in and will be able to trick or treat
along the course from our volunteers! Proceeds will go
towards the ELRD Scholarship Fund. Please follow link for

    Flag Football
    Description: Flag Football is designed to introduce young players to the
    game of football with on-field support and instruction from coaches. This
    is a non-tackling program.
    Players will learn the various roles on a football team and how they must
    work together for success, while maintaining a fun and enjoyable
    atmosphere!

    East Longmeadow Youth Football (CLOSED FOR ENROLLMENT)
    Description: Our tackle program is a more aggressive program that
    promotes the true spirit of football by building a foundation of
    fundamentals that encourage teamwork, respect and discipline while
    promoting a focus on safety. All major equipment is included, with two
    equipment handout dates to take place prior to 8/1- more information to
    follow. One mandatory fundraiser per player is required in order to keep
    costs low. A waiver is required for non-residents. More information will be
    sent to families regarding volunteer opportunities and fundraisers.

Cheerleading is a trending sport for both boys and girls.
Flipping, jumping, and rolling are so much fun!
Participants learn safe and technical progressions to the
basics of cheerleading, not to mention the other athletic
training, such as physical strength, perseverance, goal
setting, self-confidence, and self-esteem.

This is a recreational fall soccer program for all levels of
play. ELRD encourages all players to develop skills, learn
good sportsmanship, the opportunity to reach their
maximum potential, socialize with peers, and above all,
have fun.

Big Kick er s: This program is for kids entering Kindergarten in
the Fall of 2021. Participants will learn how to dribble, shoot
and pass and basic sportsmanship skills. Parents are needed
to help coach and lead this exciting intro to soccer program .

of instruction of skills and drills, and the last 30 mins of
scrimmage/game play

This program will help participants learn about the joys and
rewards of running and potentially cultivate interest in
continuing as a high school track and/or cross country
athlete. The group will be split into two groups: 3rd to 5th
graders will learn about basic running form, while 6th to 8th
graders will learn more advanced running strategies. Both
groups will learn how to be efficient runners and how to pace
themselves appropriately. Each program session will feature
a coaching mini lesson, a dynamic group warm up, a run
(which will vary in intensity and distance), and a group
stretch. At the completion of the program, participants will be
invited to participate in a Halloween-themed 5k road race.
Included in the cost of the program is a program shirt and
entry into the graduation 5k.

I                   SPORTS PROGRAMS
    Roller Hockey Skills and Drills
    This program will support the development of youth street
    hockey skills: working on skating with in-line skates or
    rollerblades, as well as stick handling, shooting, and fun
    game play. Reinforce your child's hockey skills in the fresh
    air and sunshine this fall. Participants must be proficient on
    inline skates. Equipment required by participants (elbow
    pads, mouthpiece, knee pads, stick, rollerblades or inline
    skates). Recreation has helmets with faceguards for use.

stepping or jumping from side, walk away from side of pool,
turn, then return to side independently, submerging entire
head, blowing bubbles, opening eyes underwater, front and
back glide, front and back float, sculling in back float position,
swim 15 feet on front and 10 feet on back, swim on side

Level 2: Advan ced begin n er

This class is for swimmers who can swim 15 feet of front
crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke. Swimmers will gain
confidence and learn basic water safety skills.

Skills Covered: Jumping and stepping into 5-7 feet of water and
returning to side independently, fully submerging while
holding breath, alternating sides for breathing, opening eyes
underwater and retrieving item from shallow water, back float
for 15 seconds, front float, rolling from front to back and back
to front, front glide and back glide to vertical position, tread
water for 15 seconds, and standard scull.

Level 3: In t er m ediat e/ St r oke Developm en t

This class is for swimmers who can swim 30 feet of front
crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke. Swimmers will gain
confidence in abilities, learn safety skills, and build
endurance.

Skills Covered: Jumping into deep water, headfirst dive from
sitting and kneeling positions, submerging and retrieving
object from shallow water, bobbing, survival float and
treading water for 30 seconds, sculling head-first and
foot-first, front crawl with alternate breathing patterns,
backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke with scissor kick, and
butterfly with dolphin kick.

East Longmeadow Recreation is offering 1 :1 private lessons in 30 minute sessions for
residents and non-residents ages 4 and up. Semi-private lessons (two participants to one
instructor) are also available. Please complete the appropriate "Private Swim lesson
Registration Form" in order to register for private lessons. Lessons depend on instructor
and facility availability. Limited availability for September 2021
