on the south bank of the Detroit River directly
across from Detroit, Michigan, United States.
Located in Essex County, it is the southernmost city
in Canada and marks the southwestern end of the

population is an estimated 336,082 as of 2020,
Located in Essex County making it the third-most populated city in
Southernmost City in Canada Southwestern Ontario, after London and Kitchener.
South Bank of Detroit River The Detroit–Windsor urban area is North America's
most populous trans-border conurbation, and the
Ambassador Bridge border crossing is the busiest
commercial crossing on the Canada–United States
                                         border.

Windsor's French-Canadian heritage is reflected in French street names such as Ouellette,
Pelissier, François, Pierre, Langlois, Marentette, and Lauzon. The current street system (a
grid with elongated blocks) reflects the Canadien method of agricultural land division,
where the farms were long and narrow, fronting along the river. Today, the north–south
street name often shows the name of the family that farmed the land where the street is
today. The street system of outlying areas is consistent with the British system for granting
land concessions. There is a large French-speaking minority in Windsor and the
surrounding area, particularly in the Lakeshore, Tecumseh and LaSalle areas.Sandwich,
Ford City and Walkerville were separate legal entities (towns) until 1935.

At the same latitude as the Mediterranean, the
Lake Erie North Shore Region is nestled along
Lake Erie. This location provides a unique
maritime climate in a continental region, with
exceptional soil conditions, and longer sun
hours and greater heat units than any other
area in Canada. In fact, geographically
speaking, this region is located as far south as
northern California and the Tuscany region of
Italy, and further south than the renowned
Bordeaux and Burgundy wine regions of
France.
As a result, grape growers in the Lake Erie North Shore and Pelee Island Designated

grapes. These varieties continually and reliably produce award-winning, world-class
wines, including naturally produced ice wines.

QUEBEC CITY–WINDSOR CORRIDOR

The Quebec City–Windsor Corridor is the most densely populated and heavily
industrialized region of Canada. As its name suggests, the region extends
between Quebec City in the northeast and Windsor, Ontario in the southwest,
spanning 1,150 kilometres (710 mi). With more than 18 million people, it contains
about half of the country's population, three of Canada's five largest
metropolitan areas and eight of Canada's twelve large metropolitan areas, all
based on the 2016 census. In its relative importance to Canada's economic and
political infrastructure, it has many similarities to the Northeast megalopolis in
the United States. The name was first popularized by Via Rail, which runs
frequent passenger rail service in the region in its service area known as "The
  Corridor"

                                    Windsor International Airport, YQG is
located in the southeast part of the city. It is
a popular point of entry into Canada for
private and business aircraft. The airspace
above the airport is very busy because of its
                                    proximity to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne
County Airport and Instrument Flight Rules.
All arrivals and departures are handled by
                                    Detroit approach control.Originally opened
in 1928 as the Walker Airport, named after
Hiran Walker a 19th century whiskey
distiller. In 1967 the airport was added to
the national portfolio of Canadian airports.

SOUTH WALKERVILLE

Just south of the Old Walkerville, this neighbourhood was
first established and built after the first world war. A
common trend in Canada, in order to honor those from the

who went to war. For example, Turner is named after Lt.-
Gen. Sir Richard Ernest William Turner, a senior Canadian
officer from Quebec City who received the Victoria Cross.

LITTLE RIVER ACRES

Originally constructed from 1972 - 1980 and known as the
Villages of Riverside. This neighbourhood offers single 2
storey detached homes. The 1,000 unit development
adopted a zero lot line plan. The zero lot line allows for a
greater density of development than that found in the
    standard single family dwelling subdivision.

In this case less space is required for each house as the
building is built right up to one of the side yard lot lines.
The density nears that of a townhouse development, even
though each of the homes are totally detached and owned
    separately.
