What better way to welcome the summer season than with
splashing, playing, and creating with friends new and old!
WT SUMMER CAMP
Each day campers will meet at WT City Campus and be transported
KINGSLEY to and from the Kingsley Center daily.
ADVENTURE Campers will be divided into small groups based on age and our days
will be filled with activities that celebrate the amazing active spaces
at the Kingsley Center in East Liberty.

Our days will be filled with :
WT Summer Camp
• swimming in the pool (instruction and 1:1 supervision will

be provided for campers who need extra support)
• Being active in the gymnasium
• creating art
• Cooking in the studios
• and learning new and exciting skills!
Our lunch time will be spent in a nearby park where we will enjoy
daily picnics and outdoor games. The start to the summer season at
WT has never looked so good!June 14-18
Calling all Teddy Bears to join us as we offer ½ day programs for our
newest campers! This week artists will continue a classic WT
Teddy Bear Camp: Summer Camp tradition with some beautiful and messy creations.
Get ready to paint, bend, mold, cut, glue, and create! We will create
Art Attack amazing art projects with a special focus on outdoor art forms and
Age 3-PK favorite projects like pottery, clay, t-shirt painting, mosaics, garden
art, birdhouses, and more. These bears will be so busy enjoying
Maggie Horton water play, games, stories, songs, and crafts that there will be no
time for your little bear to hibernate! Campers will also have the
9:00am - Noon chance to create their own special bear that we hope will be a life-
long friend and memory from Summer 2021!
We like to move it, move it we like to move it, move it! Calling
all campers who love dancing, sing-alongs, crafty and creative
play! This wiggly week will be all about exploring different
Shake Your SIllies ways to move our bodies when we feel happy, sad, exhausted,
Out and totally SILLY! We will learn new dances and come up with
PK-K our own as we fill our days with laughter and fun. Silly campers
will also add new call and response songs to their
Jenny Tritsch
repertoire, create instruments to keep the beat, and on Friday,
share their favorite moves and songs with the whole camp! We
can’t wait to enjoy this wacky week with your campers!
Join Coach Jeannie and Ms. Hannah this week to stretch our brains
and our bodies and learn about keeping our whole selves healthy! I
don’t know about you, but 2020 had me talking about germs more
than ever before in my life! This week we will learn about how they
Health 360° work, the powerful things our bodies can do, and find fun (and
delicious) ways to keep our bodies happy. Campers will learn about
PK-K senses, bones, the gas we pass, and how germs spread through
sensory discovery and scientific experiments. While campers are
Jeannie Kirk + stretching their brain muscles we will also look at how important it
Hannah Miller is to stretch our bodies and the power of PLAY as we kick, pass,
dribble, and bounce the gaga ball. From head to toe inside and out
campers will leave this week with a new understanding of healthy
habits and fun!
Once Upon a slime… I mean time there was an amazing summer
Once Upon a Slime camp program with Ms. Blaney…a program where we share stories
and create new inquiry-based adventures every day of the week!
Based on Steve Spangler Science, this program explores amazing
PK K 1 hands-on science and literature connections with young learners.
Kimberly Blaney Each session will start with a short, interactive story that leads into
a fun, exploratory (and sometimes messy!) science experiment. Join
us as we listen, create, explore, build, and investigate!we hope will
be a life-long friend and memory from Summer 2021!June 14-18

Each week campers will have an in-depth focus on the seven continents.
Passport Our adventures will be full of exploration as we are transported to each

over seventeen countries and their rich history, culture, and people. Our
adventures will take us through deserts and forests as we learn about
the diverse biomes of plants, animals, and landscapes.
Curious about your own superpowers? Can you leap over tall
buildings like a grasshopper? Do you have the seeing capability of an
Superhero's owl? Let your inner superhero out! Join your fellow Assemblers to
Assemble creatively explore biometrics as you harness the superpowers that
already exist in nature! Design, prototype, and make your own
12 costumes and gadgets! Use your superpowers of STEAM (science,
technology, engineering, art, and math) to tell your story! Your
Assemble secret identity is safe with us!WE can’t wait to enjoy this wacky week
with your campers!
Roar like a lion and stretch tall like a giraffe with certified kids yoga
instructor Ms. Levarse! This week campers will spend the week
exploring movement, mindfulness, and meditation through a
You are a Lion variety of different mediums. Each day we will practice a new
mindfulness skill to add to our toolbox. We will learn simple yoga, go
12 for mindfulness walks, make sensory cool down kits, work on our
Erika Levarse gratitude journals, and more. Campers will draw from inspiration
using the book “Do Good, Be Kind, Spread Happy” to help guide us in
becoming “Niceness Ninjas and Happiness Heros” as we spread
random acts of kindness all over WT Summer Camp, throughout our
own communities, and beyond!
Tune in live to WT Summer Camp Radio, where you will be
transported through space and time as you experience creative
storytelling like never before. This week campers will have the
opportunity to practice telling their own true stories as well as the
Story Slam ones that run wild in the imagination. We will learn what it takes to
make a story captivating and get some tips from NPR's Moth
234 mainstage story-slam winner “Coop”. Through collaborative
storytelling, personal reflection, interviews, improv games, and
Ben Tritsch more, storytellers will work together to create stories for the best
podcast you never knew you needed. Whether you're looking for
humor, drama or a thrill... Our WT Podcast will bring you the stories
that you want to hear. Everyone has a story to tell and we can’t wait
to hear yours!June 14-18
It's All Greek to Me Let your imagination set sail as we go back to B.C.and explore the
world of ancient Greeks and mythology. Curious campers, join us
as detectives and sort through clues about Greek mythology, the
345 Olympic games, Greek warfare, and the day to day life of the
Grecian people. Campers will spend time creating art projects
linked to the Trojan horse, Greek pottery, and find out what
Jeremy Mangan happens to a hero who doesn’t listen to an oracle. Don’t miss this
classic opportunity to bring the past to life.
Calling all sports lovers and video gamers, this camp was made just
Gamerz: Design and
for you! We have spent so much of the past year on our screens so
Play this week we are going to shake things up. Our days will be filled
345 with kicking, dribbling, tossing, catching, and running on and off the
screen. Campers will spend part of the day learning to code in a
Rebecca Iezzi virtual game world and the other part of the day they will be playing
games IRL. Who better to lead the way than computer science
teacher and Coach Iezzi?
Have you ever wanted to learn to play a new instrument? What
Strings and Things about TWO? This week campers will have a full musical immersion
with magical music teacher extraordinaire Mrs. Lettan! Campers will
345 spend part of their day learning to play their very own strings
(Ukulele). The other part will be spent learning about rhythm, beats,
notes, and all kinds of musical THINGS! Campers will work
Janna Lettan throughout the week to create a performance to share with friends
near and far!
Let's face it, 2020 had us all on the couch more than ever before. This
week we are focused on moving our bodies, stretching our minds, and
Fitness Fun learning new ways to treat our bodies best. Each day we will get
outside and run (or speed-walk) as we work to log a half-marathon
together! Campers will learn new stretches, fitness routines building
345 endurance, and also learn how to make easy healthy snacks that still
taste great! The afternoons will be filled with cool-down activities,
Carly Caruso yoga, crafts, and community building connections. Explorers will be
+ Emily Onorato out and about all day and in light-rain or but hopefully lots of
sunshine. Please be sure to pack an extra set of clothes and comfy
shoes that can get dirty!June 21-25
Teddy Bear Camp:
Calling all Teddy Bears to join us as we offer ½ day programs for our
Safari newest campers! This week campers will continue a classic WT
Age 3 PK Summer Camp tradition ON SAFARI! Look out, maybe we will see a
dazzle of zebras or a caravan of camels! Each day on our adventures
Maggie Horton we will learn about different animals and their habitats through
song, art, and reading! These bears will be so busy that there will be
9:00am - Noon
no time for your little bear to hibernate! Campers will also have the
chance to create their own special bear that we hope will be a life-
long friend and memory from Summer 2021!
Twists, Tales, Trails Storytellers, crafty campers, and outdoor adventure... what could
be better? Campers this week will become weavers of both stories
and crafts as they journey into nature and create art to mimic and
PK K enhance the great outdoors inspired by stories each day. Get ready
to walk and explore, as campers take time to look at their
Jenny Tritsch surroundings and collect different materials they will use to twist
into their very own nature weavings. Campers will also create
works of art that enhance outdoor spaces – whether it is a garden,
deck, wooded area, porch, or rooftop! We will explore projects such
as colorful wind chimes, birdhouses, sun catchers, garden stones,
and so much more. Campers will work with all sorts of unique
materials to create an outdoor art exhibit that will live well beyond
summer 2021! This is one hands-on, active, and dirty camp!
Curious George EVERYTHING! Each day, campers will explore themes from the
popular PBS show, Curious George, and will focus on investigating
Curious About...
nature, science, art, building and so much more! Fun, hands-on
PK K 1 activities will include decorating and making your own kite,
constructing bridges, designing bird feeders, exploring stories, and
Kimberly Blaney creative play!
This was a year of BIG feelings! Fear, excitement, confusion, joy,
Emotion Explorers sadness, happiness, and so many more! We will spend this week
PK K 1 exploring all of the emotions we felt and then some! Through social-
emotional learning activities, sports, and lots of games campers will
Jeannie Kirk + learn how to share their emotions in a fun and positive way and add
Hannah Miller new tools to their toolbox. We will also draw from inspiration using
books, songs, and our own stories! While we love and admire all
emotions we hope our #1 feeling this week is HAPPY!June 21-25

Adventures begin as we travel through SOUTH AMERICA winding
our path through the Amazon rainforest, climbing Machu Picchu or
Iguazú Falls! Travelers will taste the unique fruits and special
flavors that come from these twelve countries! Stories of the native
animals and people will be featured and inspire our game playing,
artmaking, and research!
WT Summer Camp Welcome to WT Summer Camp of Witchcraft and Wizardry! Witches
of Witchcraft and and wizards of all experience levels are welcome, even squibs! After
collecting their wands and supplies from Diagon Alley and being
Wizardry
sorted into houses, students will begin their magical education
covering all of the Ministry approved essential classes. Students will
K12 also use theories of muggle science to perform wizard magic.
Campers will learn about electrical magnetic forces, circuitry,
Crystal Gonzales chemistry, and more as they mix potions and send secret messages,
add notes to their spellbooks like the half-blood prince, explore the
world of magical creatures, try their hand at quidditch, and
celebrate all things Hogwarts!
Have you ever read a book like Ada Twist, Scientist, or Six Dots: A
STEAM Adventure Story of Young Louis Braille, The World is Not a Rectangle and
immediately saw the world in a new way and wanted to create
12 something inspired by the book? If so, you've found the right
spot! Campers will enjoy STEM-themed books and use their
Dylan Kapit engineering minds to create their own masterpieces. Think
necklaces of binary code, LEGO skyscrapers, puzzles, pom pom
theme parks, and more! Each day will be filled with engineering
challenges and lots of crafts. There will be time to explore, create,
and share all of our ideas!
So, “what is a machine?” Is it as complex as a robot or as simple as a
Monster Machine ladder? During this week, engineers will explore this question as they
tinker and create with monsters on their minds. These scientists will
MAKEr learn how to make simple circuits, sketch, and design their original
23 monster machine to put on display for the whole camp to admire.
They will use reusable materials, motors, and more as they work
Jeremy Mangan together and as a team through trial and error to see how inventive
they can be with their new circuit knowledge.June 21-25

technology fashion, make stop motion animations, and more to

community. Gain skills to share your thoughts, identity, and
goals. This is your world. Communicate what you want it to be.

WT Takes the Stage Calling all aspiring Broadway performers! Come join us this week
and learn what it takes to put on a show! These Stars will learn to
345 sing, dance, create costumes, and discover tips for great stage
presence while we rehearse a song from a favorite broadway
Janna Lettan show. On Friday, our amazing performers will virtually take the
stage in front of the whole camp and you at home to share what
they have created. We cannot wait to see their names in the
lights!
Global Games
Calling all active and inquisitive athletes to WT Summer Camp!
345 Have a blast playing and learning about sports from all over the
world. Sports will include rugby, team handball, World Cup soccer,
Jimyse Brown and ultimate Frisbee. Learn about the history and culture of these
sports while having fun playing them! Other games will be played
and activities held throughout the week. We can’t wait to explore
the world through sports!

It is time to challenge your knowledge of Percy Jackson and
Percy Jackson - Greek Mythology! Will your young Demigod be chosen by a
Greek or Roman god? We will get up close and personal with
Camp Half Blood vs.
Gods and Goddesses, campers, hunters, nature spirits,
Camp Jupiter centaurs, and monsters. Greek and Roman camps will compete
as teams to see who will solve riddles, decode messages, and
45 capture the flag first! Our adventures as demigods and
goddesses will ultimately work together to achieve the
Weird Eric Costello common goal of increased confidence, knowledge, and power –
all for good!June 28-July 2

Summer Freeze Let's travel into the unknown with Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, Sven,
and all of their new pals this summer as we relive the adventures
PK K of our favorite frosty heroes. Our days will be filled with games,
activities, crafts, and of course, singing and dancing along to our
Emily Onorato new favorite soundtrack as we forge new friendships and find
magic in our own special powers.

samples and conduct experiments in space. An engineer; ready to
Crystal Gonzales help your fellow astronauts when problems arise on the ship. And
be able to test your physical and mental abilities as you explore the
weightless universe. Are you ready for your training?June 28-July 2

This week, we fly to AFRICA and learn about the fifty-four
amazingly diverse and rich cultures of this continent. As we
traverse through the various biomes of plants and animals, we will
find how they influence the culture, dress, movement, and stories
of many of these places. Explorers will cook and taste foods and
make music as we celebrate the great countries of this ancient
continent.
Outdoor Explorer:
Let’s get outside! Outdoor Explorers will adventure through
Backyard Edition neighborhoods, on trails, and to nearby parks . Along the way,
12 Explorers will build their sense of wonder and their science skills as
they engage in nature exploration and play activities based on the
Brock Perkins work of Joseph Cornell, the author of the Sharing Nature with
Children, We will complete scavenger hunts, make maps, and spend
our days exploring the great outdoors!
Game On! Join internationally-known Coach Jimyse Brown as she
All Star Sports coaches campers through the basics of shooting, passing, dribbling,
defense, and conditioning in basketball and other classic sports.
12 Each day will involve warm-up games as campers get their bodies
ready to run bases, score goals, defend shots, and get into the

mindset of athletes. Through drills, games, and fun, campers will
leave knowing more than just the sport but also about themselves
as team players. No prior play needed. Let’s have a ball this week!
ARTchitect
A hill is a house for an ant, a hive is a house for a bee, WT Summer
Adventure
Camp is a camp for YOU! This week, every camper will get the chance
to design and transform their very own wooden "house" into a rocket

ship, a castle, a submarine, or whatever you can imagine! Using a
variety of different materials, each artist will create their own house
Elizabeth and a collection of creatures and accessories to inhabit it. Artistic
Friedman campers will also get to try their hand at beading, painting, clay
building, and more during this hands-on week of creating. Campers
will leave this week with their amazing art pieces, as well as their
custom house to enjoy for years to come!June 28-July 2
A long time ago seems even longer after 2020 in a galaxy far, far
Jedi Knight Trainig away, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in
the galaxy. Padawan apprentices are campers who are in training
to become Jedi Knights. In our training camp, the young Padawans
345 will participate in problem-solving challenges that support the Jedi
Code toward a peaceful and cooperative galactic society. Based on
the Star Wars® movies, the activities will be physical in nature and
Jedi Grand Masters will include character role-playing, lightsaber fencing drills, movie
Steve Cooper and trivia, and related discussions. Now with a full day, campers will
Ellis James have the chance to do deep dives into character history, create
their own movie scenes, and spend even more time learning under
the Jedi Grand Masters who have been running this camp for over
20 years! Will the Jedi Counsel find you fit to become a Jedi? Time
will predict if, succeed, you will.
Add some magic to your life during this full day workshop! Campers
will work with Weird Eric, a professional magician, to learn the skills
Balloon Magic and knowledge necessary to perform basic small illusion magic
tricks. This camp will combine instructor presentation, step-by-step
Adacemy explanation, hands-on instruction, group practice sessions, and
345 individual performance. We will also spend time on balloon
Weird Eric twisting, tying, and creating awesome works of art! Each session we
will learn new tricks and designs and then practice them with our
peers. Upon successfully completing the camp, young magicians will
have the necessary tools to not only perform small illusion magic
tricks but also create awesome balloon art as well!
Extra, extra, read all about it! If 2020 has taught us anything, it is
how important journalism is! During this full day experience,
campers will become journalists as they cover the Breaking News
WT Summer Camp this week at WT Summer Camp 2021 and beyond. Where will the trail
Gazette blazers go? What will happen in game design camp?These young
reporters will learn interview techniques as we talk to
12 teachers, fellow campers, local business owners, and neighbors to
learn new stories and delve into research. Campers will also learn
Sarah Mueller about important skills linked to investigating, photojournalism, clear
communication, paper layout and effective writing styles and the
importance of teamwork. This camp is for anyone interested in
reporting the facts, writing, telling stories, cartooning, and more. The
week will end in our 3rd volume of the WT Summer Camp Gazette.June 28-July 2

Get ready to blaze some of Pittsburgh’s most exciting and surprising
45 trails! From north to south and east to west we will hike, paddle,
splash, and snack our way through parks in our beautiful city of
Kassandra Pittsburgh! Our days will be filled with history, adventure, and
Humberson + shenanigans from our fearless leaders Mr. Mangan and Ms.
Humberson as we pack our adventure bags (with homemade
Jeremy Mangan snacks) and hit the trails in this active camp!July 5-9
Teddy Bear Camp:
Acting Calling all theatrical Teddy Bears to join u as we offer ½ day
programs for our newest campers! This week campers will
Extravaganza continue a classic WT Summer Camp tradition with a dramatic
twist! Young performers will have a chance to let their flair for
Christina Vlachos the dramatic shine as they work on creative storytelling, dress
up, singing, movement, and lots of laughs! These bears will be
Age 3 PK so busy enjoying water play, games, stories, songs, and crafts
that there will be no time for your little bear to hibernate!
Campers will also have the chance to create their own acting

STEAM Team Talent wins games, but teamwork wins championships. In this
test of unity and cooperation, campers will come together to
PK K design their own team, uniform and logo and learn just what it
takes to make it as a team. Each day will be filled with a variety

Hannah Miller from musicians to mathematicians, engineers to athletes,
readers to racers, and everyone in between! Each camper will

going elbow deep into everyone's favorite sticky stuff. Do you
know how many different types of slime there are!? Fluffy slime,
glow in the dark slime, scented slime, magnetic slime… Each day
Chemistry of SLIME campers will focus on new slime recipes and make predictions
using the scientific method about how ingredients and their
12 reactions. Slime scientists will learn about polymers and how
different forces and materials have an impact on the properties

Ourdoor Adventure:
Let’s get outside! Outdoor Explorers will adventure through
Backyard Explorers neighborhoods, on trails, and to nearby parks . Along the way,
Explorers will build their sense of wonder and their science skills
12 as they engage in nature exploration and play activities based on
the work of Joseph Cornell, the author of Sharing Nature with
Brock Perkins Children. We will complete scavenger hunts, make maps, and
spend our days exploring the great outdoors!July 5-9
Get your bellies ready! This week, Mini Chefs will explore
Cooking Around the mighty flavors from all corners of the globe. We will begin right
at home understanding the different influences of the food we

eat every night. We will get our passports ready and travel to

dessert) looks like around the world. As we visit each country,

Fiber Arts: Yarn

Yarn-Punch your way through this camp week! Come try your
felting, macrame, hand at a new skill that some say is just like “painting with
and more yarn”. Fiber artists will spend their week working with their
own yarn punching kits, macrame, needle felting, and creating
345 other works of fiber arts. With the help of Ms. Mueller, a yarn
punch aficionado, campers will make potholders, wall
Sarah Mueller hangings, and other beautiful fiber installations that will
weave their way into your hearts and homes forever.
A long time ago seems even longer after 2020 in a galaxy far, far
away, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice
in the galaxy. Padawan apprentices are campers who are in
training to become Jedi Knights. In our training camp, the young

of fencing’s strategy, rules, and conduct related to the history of
Skill Building swordsmanship and evolution of sword play. We will also
highlight the exciting history of fencing in the olympic

Access to all equipment and protective gear will be provided

Students will explore animal habitats around the globe and
Emily Marcellus have visits from some special feline friends that will give us
hands-on opportunity to observe and care for cats! Through
experiments, hands on activities, and games, campers will
learn important ecological concepts and evolution while having

So, “what is a machine?” Is it as complex as a robot or as simple
Monster Machine as a ladder? During this week, campers will explore this
MAKEr question as they tinker and create with monsters on their
minds. These scientists will learn how to make simple circuits,
12 sketch, and design their original monster machine to put on
display for the whole camp to admire. They will use reusable

WT Summer Camp Witches and wizards of all experience levels are welcome, even

classes. Students will also use theories of muggle science to

video designers unite for this awesome camp! Whether it is your
MTV @ WT love for songwriting, your passion for being on screen, or behind

directing, acting, staging, filming, and editing a variety of

Get ready for WT Island life at the newest island on the map.
PK K Beach bums will take a dive into summer fun. Campers will

some tropical inspired treats. Our week will be full of crafts,
games, exploration, and fun!
World Music Campers will “travel around the world” from Australia to
Adventures Zimbabwe to Peru and MORE as we discover and engage with
instruments, rhythm, songs, and dances unique to different
PK K 1 countries. This interactive, high-energy camp will allow campers
to explore music and enjoy time with new friends.
