Young people in dialogue
Towards social friendship
Turin, 6-8 March 2020
(Launch of the 2021 event)
In answer to the appeal made by Pope Francis to young people to work together
to promote dynamics that transform history in a positive way as well as in light of the
Global Educational Pact, the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue proposed
the present symposium. Joining with the Dicasteries for Laity, Family and Life and for
the Integral Human Development and the Italian Bishops’ Conference Offices for
Ecumenism and Dialogue and for Youth Ministry, and with the participation of other
Churches and religious traditions, together have organized this opportunity to host
Youth in Dialogue.
The Symposium is for young people aged 18-29 who are engaged in ecumenical
and interreligious dialogue and/or youth ministry. They will be joined by the heads of
the concerned Offices of their Churches and religious traditions, coming from Italy and
other European countries.
This meeting is is planned as a preparation for the Global Compact on Education
that Pope Francis will be hosting in the Vatican on 14 May, 2020, and then an eventual
larger European conference on social friendship to be held from 4 to 7 March 2021.“To go beyond small groups and to build social friendship,
where everyone works for the common good.
To find ways of building social friendship,
working together for something greater”
(Francis, Christus vivit, n. 169)
