Dear Parents:
Your child is interested in becoming a member of the Riverwatch Middle School Cheerleading Program.
After reading this packet, and fully understanding everything, please sign and return the forms to Coach Cash or
Coach Moon by 4 pm. Tuesday, April 23, 2019.
Our philosophy of coaching is similar to the philosophy we have for teaching. A coaching relationship
presents a unique opportunity to facilitate the development of young and talented athletes. To be an effective
coach, your child must motivate, challenge, communicate, organize, inspire, and most of all have fun doing it. As
coaches, it is our desire to provide an environment that assists each individual in becoming a well-rounded young
adult. Coaching is teaching the importance of setting goals, having dreams, and witnessing the success of
accomplished dreams. Along with goal setting, a coach must teach the value of hard work and determination. We
must also model how athletes can incorporate this into school and life. Coaching is teaching the importance of
teamwork and good sportsmanship. Though the squad is made up individuals, the team’s success is definitely a
reflection of the squad’s ability to get along and work together. To work as one team takes, time, respect and
patience.
The coach must develop a relationship with the athlete that promotes trust and respect. Coaching
represents an opportunity to be a role model and make a difference in the lives of young athletes by helping them
establish traits that will make them successful athletes, students and more importantly, adults. If you have any
questions concerning tryouts, please feel free to contact any of us. We are looking forward to a successful and
rewarding season. Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Sincerely,
Savanna Cash & Jessica Moon
