Dear Scout Leaders,
Outdoor activities are integral to meeting the
needs of Scouts and their families while also
providing many of the most appealing features of
the Scouting program. Activities and events are
planned to match the desires of Scouts at all age
levels and abilities with opportunities to advance
    in rank and have fun.

We are very proud of the exciting programs the
Greater Los Angeles Area Council (GLAAC) camps
have to offer. We are excited about launching our
2021-2022 Camp Program Guide, and we hope you
are ready to take advantage of all of our new and
    improved programs and upcoming opportunities.

Thank you for participating in the Scouting

ADVANCED CAMPER
     EXPERIENCE (ACE)
This is a stand-alone program at camp Big Horn. This week-long
high adventure program is geared towards campers 14-years and
older who have a basic fitness level. ACE gives older Scouts, who
do not need to take merit badge classes, a chance to come to
camp and participate in older scout activities. We also encourage
adult leaders, looking for a bit more adventure, to join in the
program. Some activities include; horseback riding, outback
camping, hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, rappelling, and climbing.
Join the ACE Crew for an adventure you won’t forget!

     STAFF / C.I.T.
Staff - Working at camp is much more than a summer job, it is the
foundation for a successful life. This is all done under a structure
of Scouting, a tried and true method for inspiring youth. Staffers
will learn how to effectively manage and prioritize their personal
and professional time. They will develop a work ethic focused on
the importance of service. They will learn how to work as part of a
team, and then how to help lead that team to success.

Counselor In Training (CIT) - Camp Big Horn understands that
ethical, hardworking young people are the key to a successful
camping season. As a result, the camp administration is always
looking for Scouts who want to return after their week at camp
to be a counselor-in-training. This program allows Scouts to
volunteer as a staff member for a week or two to see if they would
like to become a full-time staff member the following year.
