About Madeira Island
Madeira, an autonomous region of Portugal, is an archipelago comprising 4 islands of the
northwest coast of Africa. It is known for its namesake wine and warm subtropical climate.
The main island of Madeira is volcanic, green and rugged, with high cliffs, pebbly beaches
and settlements on deltas of the Fajã River.
Funchal is the capital and it has botanic gardens and is known for its harbor and a large
New Year's fireworks show.
Madeira Island is one of Europe's most beautiful travel locations with many thousands
of tourists returning year after year.
Why?
It offers not only an all year round summer climate, as well as, wonderful fauna and flora,
but it is also virtually crime-free and one of the safest holiday destinations in the world!

Accommodation Guide
For the World Para Swimming European Open Championships, Madeira 2020,
the Portuguese Swimming Federation selected the accommodation options that best
serve the requirements for the competition:
accessibility for the athletes,
proximity to the competition venue;
central location in the city providing the easy access and transportation for all the involved.
All the selected hotels are 4 or 5 and provide a high level of service
with good facilities including free Wi-Fi and adaptive bedrooms.
The hotels have also been selected to allow for a simplified and unified
transport system from the city centre to the training and competition venue.

Prices per room
For all hotels listed above, Madeira 2020 will provide an extensive service including
personalised management of all bookings with onsite representation at all hotels by way
of a Sports Information Desk.
The LOC will also manage all rooming lists and meal requirements to ensure
that all those attending the event benefit from the very best possible experience.
Meal Package
The meal package is included in the accommodation costs and no additional charges will be
incurred to the NPCs. The package includes breakfast, a buffet lunch and dinner served in the hotels.
Transport
Transportation will be provided from the hotels to the venue. Closer to the event the routes
will be published. The journey time will be no more than 15 minutes. These shuttle services
will run on a regular basis taking into consideration the Championships training
and competition timetables.

PESTANA CASINO PARK HOTEL
The sophisticated Pestana Casino Park was designed by the great master of world architecture
Oscar Niemeyer and is part of the most emblematic touristic complexes in Madeira Island,
and includes the well-known Casino of Madeira and the Congress & Convention Centre
(there are meeting rooms available for renting to the teams).
This hotel is located at 20 km’s away from Madeira International Airport and only a few minutes’
walk from the urban center of Funchal. The venue is 4 km away (around 15 minutes by bus).

The final accommodation booking form must be sent until the 2th of April 2021.
Please note that the LOC must receive the full amount of the accommodation fee
until 2th of April 2021.
This means that the payer is responsible for all the bank fees, if applicable.
