2.Two hour Pottery Party – Held in the Quesnel Arts & Recreation Pottery Studio with a party leader, pottery sculpting is where creativity spends its vacations. Our hands-on approach will challenge party goers curiosity and explore artistic boundaries with clay. All projects will stimulate the imagination! Minimum 6 children/maximum 14 children at a cost of $20.00/25.00 per participant 3.Two hour Art and Craft Party – Held in the Quesnel Arts & Recreation Pottery Studio with a party leader, organized crafts and activities are where it’s at!! Party goers will create two crafts that they will be able to take home at the end of the party.

Craft options can vary: dream catchers, beaded wind chimes, tic-tac-toe boards, wearable masks, and fairy houses. Please indicate preference on your form. Minimum 6 children/maximum 14 children at a cost of $20.00/25.00 per participant 4.Two hour Recreation Gym Party – Held in the Quesnel Arts & Recreation West Fraser Timber Room with a party leader, organized games and activities are where it’s at!! Party goers will take part in games such as Dodgeball, Super Shields, Target Frisbee, Tic-tac-toe Boards, floor games and top it all off with a giant parachute.

Minimum 6 children/maximum 14 children at a cost of $20.00/25.00 per participant Note to parents: the first hour and fifteen minutes after the children arrive will be the time slotted for the chosen art/gym activities of the day, after that there is a five minute clean up and then we turn the party over to you. This is the time where you can have cake, food, open gifts and play any party games that you have planned for your birthday child. We encourage you to come 15 minutes before the party is scheduled to start to set up any decorations and get organized. Parties can be booked on Saturdays and Sundays year round.

Swim lessons and recreation programs must have a minimum number of registrants. Decisions on whether minimum number have been met are made up to five (5) days prior to the start of the program.   • GENERAL INQUIRES 250-992-8200 Aquatic Coordinator With over 20 years experience in the Recreation and Leisure field, Angele combines both quality and education to ensure the best experience for clients. Currently completing a Recreational and Leisure diploma program, in tandem with working full time as the Aquatic Coordinator, she builds on a philosophy of lifelong learning, which includes continually participating in both post-secondary and professional training. Beginning her career as a lifeguard, she has added designing and delivering programming in aquatics and first aid, areas for which she has a passion, to her growing repertoire.

Angele is married with two sons. She and her husband participate in numerous community-based activities, including spearheading fundraising, actively engage in their children's sports teams, in addition to running their own recreational business. For the majority of those 20+ years I worked as the Recreation Coordinator assisting primarily with recreation program delivery.

At the time of this activity guide coming to print, I am almost 4 months’ shy of 2 years as Recreation Manager. Boy time flies by! Generally, I oversee all tasks involved with operation of the Arts & Recreation Centre and the front administration staff at our two Quesnel arenas. Subsequently, I also liaise with the Cariboo Regional Districts Recreation Commissions consisting of Parkland, Bouchie Lake, Barlow Creek, Alex Fraser Park and Pioneer Park. I thoroughly enjoy what I do and the people I work with daily!

If you haven’t already, I encourage all of you to come enjoy your facility. Delight in our ever expanding Fitness Centre Weight Room or drop-in to one of our many fitness classes in the pool or in the West Fraser Timber Room. Relax in our hot tub, dry saunas or steam saunas or beat your time swimming lengths. We would absolutely love to see you so pop by and meet our first rate staff. We hope to see you soon!   • GENERAL INQUIRES 250-992-8200 Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program Cariboo Jumpstart Program is an affiliate of the Canadian Tire Foundation for Families. It provides funding for financially disadvantaged children, ages 4-18, to participate in arts, scouts, guides, sports and recreational activities, so they develop essential life skills, self-esteem and confidence. Funding is available up to $300.00. This program donates approximately $10,000 each year to assist children in Quesnel to register for programs. KidSport applications are used for this program and are available at the Arts and Recreation Centre or you can apply online at www.jumpstart.canadiantire.ca Giving all kids a sporting chance.

Leisure Access This program provides 50% subsidies for children and adults on all public swimming and skating admissions and a 25% subsidy for programs offered by the Arts and Recreation Centre and Quesnel Arenas. Residents may be eligible for this program if they are receiving income assistance from the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction or have a family income of up to $20,625 (1 person); $25,780 (2 person family); $35,940 (3 person family); $36,090 (4 person family) or $41,250 for a family of 5 or more. Leisure Access is subsidized by the North Cariboo Parks and Recreation taxation area and is open to area residents only.

Kidsport Quesnel KidSport™ is a community-based sport funding program that provides grants for children ages 18 and under to participate in a sport season of their choice. When kids have access to physical activity, they have the opportunity to reach their highest potential, which can positively impact physical health, development of social skills, self-esteem, and friendships. KidSport applications for funding are available at the Arts and Recreation Centre and online registrations are now accepted at www.kidsportcanada.ca/british-columbia/cariboo-quesnel/. Funding is available for up to $300.00 per kid each year for subsidizing registration fees for sport.

School Fields and Diamonds Fields and baseball diamonds located at the many schools within School District 28 are available to rent during the summer season. For more information on availability or to reserve a space, e-mail or call Lori at lsmetaniuk@quesnel.ca or 250-992-7125 Quesnel River Front Trail The Riverfront Trail System is a paved trail that gives residents and visitors access to the river environment and provides a scenic, peaceful circle tour through the community. The Riverfront Trail has two sections, north and west, connected by the Fraser River Footbridge. The north section is five kilometres long and takes about one hour to complete at a leisurely walking pace. Ceal Tingley Park, located at the confluence of the Quesnel and Fraser Rivers is "Kilometer 0" of the system and has many attractions within its borders. The trail passes along the Quesnel River, through the North Quesnel neighbourhood and along the Fraser River to return to Heritage Corner and Ceal Tingley Park. The west section is 4.3 km long. From the footbridge, the trail parallels the Fraser River before crossing North Fraser Drive, and taking you through Sugarloaf Park, along a short stretch of residential street, before crossing and then meandering alongside Baker Creek. Signage along the trail provides insight into the history, nature, and First Nations of the area.

The City of Quesnel features many serviced parks and outdoor recreation facilities. These locations are great for taking your wedding photos, having a church or club picnic, playing weekly football games or a one-time ball game. Part of the Riverfront Trail system, it offers a great environment for observing spawning salmon, and is home to the local Skate Park. Located in the West Village, it is next to the West Park Mall and close to local shops and restaurants.

Cariboo Field Located in West Village this location has two baseball diamonds with stands and dug outs.

LeBourdais Park LeBourdais Park is Quesnel's main city park, located in downtown Quesnel. Its facilities include picnic tables, a childrens' playground, water spray park, a band stand and a little league baseball diamond. LeBourdais Park is also home to the Quesnel Museum and archives, heritage rose garden, the Visitor Information Centre and the Billy Barker Days Society building. Bordering the park is the Pioneer Cemetery, the Quesnel Arenas and the Quesnel Curling Rink. LeBourdais Park was named after Louis LeBourdais, who represented this area in B.C.'s Legislative Assembly in Victoria.

His gravestone is found in Pioneer Cemetery.

Pioneer Park Pioneer Park is perhaps one of Quesnel's best kept secrets. Situated on Dragon Lake and accessed from Campsite Road, Pioneer Park has firepits, a large open area, picnic tables, and a forested area. The park is designated for group functions. It is located west of Johnston Subdivision at the base of Plywood Hill. The park houses four softball diamonds, one baseball diamond, a playground, a lawn bowling facility, the 11 Parks And Fields

  • GENERAL INQUIRES 250-992-8200 SWIMMING ADMISSION STANDARDS For the safety of children under the age of 7 years Children under the age of 7 years must be accompanied by a responsible person aged 16 or older. This person will be responsible for the child’s direct supervision and must stay within arms-reach at all times. There is a maximum of four children under the age of 7 allowed per responsible person. For patrons wishing to enjoy the deep end of the pool At the staff’s discretion, a patron may be asked to do a swim test before being allowed to swim in the deep end of the pool without a lifejacket. The swim test is comprised of swimming two continuous widths or a portion of the length of the main pool comfortably and without stopping. Anyone who cannot complete this test to the staff member’s satisfaction will be asked to wear a lifejacket while using the deep end of the pool.

For the safety and enjoyment of patrons and staff The staff reserve the right to refuse access to the facility. This includes patrons who may be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Anyone being verbally or physically abusive towards staff or other patrons will be asked to leave the facility immediately. POOL RULE REMINDERS Shower Before Entering the Pool Help keep the pool water clean by showering before entering the pool. Oils and sweat put more strain on the filtration system.
