The third Annual Reconciliation in Action (RIA):
Hastings-Sunrise Gathering and Celebration will
bring together diverse residents, civil society groups,
government, local businesses and community to
explore what inclusion and reconciliation looks
like starting at the neighbourhood level. The Event
will be participatory and interactive, featuring a
range of fun, family-friendly games and activities,
prizes and food, information booths as well as
presentations, live performances and an Indigenous
artists market.

Hastings Community Centre has rooms for all kinds of social occasions, large or small. We also have a great gym space for indoor sports play
and wonderful meeting facilities as well. Full payment for the rental is due at the time of booking. Depending on the nature of the rental a
damage deposit may be charged. Insurance may be required due to the nature of the rental.

1st VP Jukka Vuorma Hello and welcome to the winter and spring recreation guide for 2020. It has been an exciting time for our HCA this fall. After
years of meetings and not knowing the future of Templeton Pool, we finally have some sense of security moving into the
2nd VP Josh Cook years ahead. The original Vansplash aquatic strategy had Templeton Pool slated for decommission in the near future. There

Out of School Care
The HCA is proud to offer the Licensed Out of School Care (OSC) service to the community. The
OSC provides a safe drop off and pick up for children enrolled at A.R. Lord and Hastings Elementary
schools. The program provides a stimulating environment for participants to be engaged in
activities in a positive atmosphere. The program incorporates community field trips and Community
Centre extras (i.e. outdoor use) wherever possible. Should your child be enrolled in another program
in the Centre, staff are able to walk your child to the class.

Meet the Staff
Staff are experienced school age and ECE trained staff. They do a fantastic job of creating a
stimulating, interactive and cooperative environment to complement your child’s school day.
Janice Manfron, Childcare and Association Manager
Janice loves living and working in the diverse community of Hastings-Sunrise. She started teaching
Preschool at Hastings in 1999 and assisted in licensing the new OSC program in 2014. Janice
continues to support the licensed childcare and family programs. Should you require additional

Betty Sacco, Acting OSC Supervisor
Betty is acting as the OSC Supervisor during the maternity leave of Lauren Barber. She is a long
time community member and has been a staff member of the Out of School Care program
since its inception. Betty’s genuine love for children and their families make her an amazing
