Remark:
    ● All prelim events are scheduled for 5 pm on the respective days.
    ● The registration for the particular event will be closed at 12:00 PM on the day of the event.
    ● ON-SPOT entries will not be entertained.

GENERAL GUIDELINES
1. No equipment/facilities required for Amritotsavam 2021 shall be provided by the
    institution.
2. Students are requested to provide correct bank details, while registering, to be qualified for
    prelims.
3. On the spot Registration is not allowed.
4. No late entries will be entertained.
5. Students should represent only their own House.
6. Winners will be selected purely based on their performance. Hence, representation of all the
    Houses in the finals is NOT MANDATORY.
7. For each event, the first and second prizes will be awarded along with e-certificates. The
    third prizes will carry only e-certificates.
8. The Organizing Student Committee will ensure that there is no mixing up of Houses. 15
    points will be deducted from the total points gained by that particular House and the
    participation will be disqualified for the respective event.
9. The Secretaries and Joint Secretaries should try to find out the talented students and
    motivate them to participate in the various events. The House that scores the maximum
    points will win the trophy.
10. Any issues to be discussed from the students’ or office bearer’s side should be brought to
    the Dept. of Student’s Welfare through the Organizing Students Committee members.
11. House Secretaries or the participants should not meet the judges directly or indirectly.
12. High tech sound and light equipment must be avoided as they interfere with the
    exhibition of the creative talents of the students.
13. Professional training (choreography) for dances / acting / music shall be avoided. The
    students should use the opportunities to create and innovate by themselves as an intrusion of
    professionals robs the freshness of their creations / talents.
14. Themes / concepts / episodes may be taken from our traditional regional folklores.
15. For Dance and theatrical events, only if the screening committee approves, the candidature
    will be confirmed.
16. Dance-Dramas may depict incidents from the lives of great people like Tagore / Rani
    Lakshmibai / Gandhi / our epic personages.
17. There should be a minimum of 5 registrations for group events and 8 registrations for
    individual events to happen, else, those events will be cancelled.

Photo/Scan
   1. The student’s Unique Code of Verification should be visible in the scanned copy. (Unique
      code (for each student) will be given to participants prior to each event in Microsoft forms).
   2. For events like creative writing, poetry writing the submission should be a single file (pdf
      format).
   3. For events like pencil sketching, on-spot painting, the submission should be scanned and made
      into a pdf.
   4. If the photo/scanned copy lacks clarity, then their participation shall be cancelled.
   5. File name format: rollnum_uniquecodeofevent_doc

Video
   1. Participant’s Unique Code of Verification must be displayed throughout the video. (Unique
      code (for each student) will be given to participants prior to each event in Microsoft forms).
   2. For dance and song events the entire performance must be submitted as a single video.
   3. Participants should be on screen for the entire video.
   4. The video should be in mp4 format.
   5. File name format: rollnum_uniquecodeofevent_video

Time Lapse
A time-lapse video is a sped-up video that is used to capture a subject over a longer period of time than
you would ordinarily take a picture or film something.
Participants can either record a time-lapse video in their mobile camera and compress it using the
following apps

They can use the camera app mentioned below to take timelapse (available in google play store)

This is to avoid consuming time and data while uploading the video.
    1. The setting for the time-lapse video should be - 10X (0.3-second interval) (60min→5min)
    2. The student’s Unique Code of Verification should be visible during the entire video. (Unique
        code (for each student) will be given to participants prior to each event in Microsoft forms).
    3. If the video lacks clarity, then their participation shall be cancelled.
    4. File name format: rollnum_uniquecodeofevent_lapse

RULES AND REGULATIONS
FINE ARTS
  1) On - Spot Painting
        a) This is an individual event.
        b) The theme and the Unique Code of Verification shall be provided as the description in the
           ms form provided at the beginning of the event.
        c) Duration of the event: 2 hours.
        d) Painting can be done in water and pastel colors.
        e) Candidates should use their own materials like brushes, paints, etc.
        f) Participants should write the Unique Code of Verification in the painting, which shall be
           provided as the description of the event in teams.
        g) Registration: The registration link will be available in the brochure.
        h) There is no preliminary round, all those who register and submit the recording will be
           considered for direct finals.
        i) Submission: Softcopy of the painting shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the
           link is to be submitted through the Microsoft forms provided at the beginning of the
           event.

  2) Rangoli
        a) This is an individual event.
        b) Duration of the event: 1 hour.
        c) The rangoli should be drawn within the dimension: 3x3 feet.
        d) Participants should use their own material.
        e) Participants should follow the instruction which shall be provided as the description in
           the ms form provided at the beginning of the event.
        f) Registration: The registration link will be available in the brochure.
        g) There is no preliminary round, all those who register and submit the recording will be
           considered for direct finals.
        h) Submission: Photo shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the link is to be
           submitted through the Microsoft forms provided at the beginning of the event.

3) Pencil Sketching
      a) This is an individual event.
      b) The theme and the Unique Code of Verification shall be provided as the description in the
          ms form provided at the beginning of the event.
      c) Duration of the event: 2 hours.
      d) Sketching can be done using any type of HB pencils.
      e) Participants should write the Unique Code of Verification in the sketch, which shall be
          provided as the description of the event in teams.
      f) Registration: The registration link will be available in the brochure.
      g) There is no preliminary round, all those who register and submit the recording will be
          considered for direct finals.
      h) Submission: Softcopy of the sketch shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the
          link is to be submitted through the Microsoft forms provided at the beginning of the
          event.

4) Photography with Caption
      a) Individual event (one photo per person).
      b) Duration of the event: 2 hours.
      c) Photos should be taken only using a DSLR.
      d) Photos should be submitted only in jpeg format.
      e) File size should be between 2MB (minimum) and 15MB (maximum).
      f) The EXIF data of the photograph must remain intact.
      g) Only basic color corrections are allowed.
      h) The photograph must authentically depict the setting as you saw it when you took the
         photograph.
      i) No mixing, matching, or morphing of photographs will be permitted.
      j) Registration: The registration link will be available in the brochure.
      k) There is no preliminary round, all those who register will be considered for direct finals.
      l) Submission: Photographs shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the link is to be
         submitted through the Microsoft forms provided during the event.

5) Poster Making
      a) This is an individual event.
      b) The theme for the poster and the Unique Code of Verification shall be provided as the
          description in the ms form provided at the beginning of the event.
      c) Duration of the event: 2 hours.
      d) Posters should be made using electronic gadgets.
      e) Participants should write the Unique Code of Verification in the poster, which shall be
          provided as the description of the event in teams.
      f) Registration: The registration link will be available in the brochure.
      g) There is no preliminary round, all those who register and submit the recording will be
          considered for direct finals.
      h) Submission: Softcopy of the poster shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the
          link is to be submitted through the Microsoft forms provided during the event, in a .psd
          file format.

6) Mehandi
     a) This is an individual event.
     b) Duration of the event: 1 hour.
     c) Participants can get help from a friend/family member, only to design on his/her hand.
     d) Mehandi Designing is to be done with one hand.
     e) Any kind of Mehandi can be used.
     f) Participants have to send pictures from the top view and side views.
     g) Participants should follow the instruction which shall be provided as the description in
        the ms form provided at the beginning of the event.
     h) Registration: The registration link will be available in the brochure.
     i) There is no preliminary round, all those who register and submit the recording will be
        considered for direct finals.
     j) Submission: Photos shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the link is to be
        submitted through the Microsoft forms provided at the beginning of the event.

LITERARY

  1) Debate (English)
        a) This is an individual event.
        b) Language: English
        c) Duration (Prelims): 3 minutes.
        d) Duration (Finals): 5 minutes.
        e) Topics will be given 24 hours in advance on Intranet for prelims and ON SPOT for finals
           with five minutes for brainstorming.
        f) A random selection will be used to decide FOR and AGAINST amongst the participants.
        g) Participants will be required to submit a recording of their speech within the given time
           with the Unique Code in the frame for prelims. FOR/AGAINST shall be allotted 30
           minutes before the beginning of the submission duration.
        h) Finals will be conducted live on Microsoft Teams for qualified finalists. Participants must
           ensure good network connectivity to have their videos on for the session.

  2) Elocution
        a) This is an individual event.
        b) Language: English,Tamil,Malayalam,Telugu,Hindi.
        c) Duration: 5 minutes.
        d) Subject/Topic shall be provided 24 hrs in advance through Intranet.
        e) The participant’s speech has to be recorded as a video.
        f) The Unique Code of Verification shall be provided at the commencement of the event
            (Has to be present throughout the video).
        g) Registration: The registration link is available in the brochure.
        h) Submission: The video shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the link is to be
            submitted through the Microsoft forms provided during the event.
        i) There is no preliminary round, all those who register, submit the workpiece and the
            recording will be considered for direct finals.
        j) The decision of the judge is final.

3) Creative Writing
      a) This is an individual event.
      b) Only one entry per student is allowed per language (English, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam,
          Telugu).
      c) A student can participate in more than one language, but all his/her works are to be
          submitted within the time frame.
      d) The topic and the Unique Code of Verification shall be provided as the description in the
          ms form provided at the beginning of the event.
      e) Duration: 60 minutes.
      f) Word limit: maximum 1200 words.
      g) Registration: The registration link is available in the brochure.
      h) Submission: The handwritten copy of their work-piece along with the time-lapse video
          monitoring the participant shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the link is to
          be submitted through the Microsoft forms provided at the beginning of the event.
      i) There is no preliminary round, all those who register, submit the work-piece and the
          recording will be considered for direct finals.
      j) The decision of the judge is final.

4) Poetry Writing
      a) This is an individual event.
      b) Only one entry per student is allowed per language (English, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam,
          Telugu).
      c) A student can participate in more than one language, but all his/her works are to be
          submitted within the time frame.
      d) The topic and the Unique Code of Verification shall be provided as the description in the
          ms form provided at the beginning of the event.
      e) Duration: 60 minutes.
      f) Registration: The registration link is available in the brochure.
      g) Submission: The handwritten copy of their work-piece along with the time-lapse video
          monitoring the participant shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the link is to
          be submitted through the Microsoft forms provided during the event.
      h) There is no preliminary round, all those who register, submit the work-piece and the
          recording will be considered for direct finals.
      i) The decision of the judge is final.

5) Quiz
        a)  This is an individual event.
        b)  Language of instruction: English.
        c)  Duration of the event: 2 hours.
        d)  Topic: General.
        e)  Prelims would be a written round where Microsoft forms shall be used to collect answers.
            The top 6 Teams shall be shortlisted for finals from the Written Prelims.
         f) Finals would be hosted live on Microsoft Teams and participants must ensure good
            network connectivity to have their videos on for the session.
         g) Usual quizzing patterns shall be adapted to the online mode. Further instructions shall be
            elaborated during the event.

INFORMALS

  1) 5 Minute Recipes
        a) This is an individual event.
        b) Duration of cooking: 5 mins.
        c) The first 25 entries will be considered for evaluation.
        d) The recording should contain preparation(participant), serving(participant), and
           review(by family members)
        e) A recipe will be provided before the commencement of the event(in ms form at the
           beginning of the event).
        f) Registration: The registration link is available in the brochure.
        g) Submission: Video shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the link is to be
           submitted through the Microsoft forms provided at the beginning of the event.

SONG (VOCAL AND INSTRUMENTS)

  1) Instrumental Percussion Solo
        a) Only one entry per student is allowed (one instrument only).
        b) Duration of performance: 5 minutes.
        c) Items can be presented in either Carnatic or Hindustani Style.
        d) Film songs are not allowed.
        e) Accompaniment other than shruti box or tampura is not allowed.
        f) Raw video footage and audio recorded using phone/camera with in-built mic/headphones
           only allowed to be submitted (without any background music).
        g) Mixing & mastering/editing or any form of tampering with the footage not allowed.
        h) Registration: The registration link is available in the brochure.
        i) There is no preliminary round, all those who register and submit the recording will be
           considered for direct finals.
        j) Submission: Recording shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the link is to be
           submitted through the Microsoft forms provided during the event.
        k) The decision of the judge is final.

  2) Instrumental Non-Percussion Solo (Classical)
        a) Only one entry per student is allowed (one instrument only).
        b) Duration of performance: 5 minutes.
        c) Instruments of western origin adapted to the India Raga system are allowed.
        d) Items can be presented in either Carnatic or Hindustani Style.
        e) Film songs are not allowed.
        f) Accompaniment other than shruti box or tampura is not allowed.
        g) Raw video footage and audio recorded using phone/camera with in-built mic/headphones
           only allowed to be submitted (without any background music).
        h) Mixing & mastering/editing or any form of tampering with the footage not allowed.
        i) Registration: The registration link is available in the brochure.
        j) There is no preliminary round, all those who register and submit the recording will be
           considered for direct finals.
        k) Submission: Recording shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the link is to be
           submitted through the Microsoft forms provided during the event.
        l) The decision of the judge is final.

3) Instrumental Non-Percussion Solo (Western)
      a) Only one entry per student is allowed (one instrument only).
      b) Duration of performance: 5 minutes.
      c) Items can be presented in western Style.
      d) Raw video footage and audio recorded using phone/camera with in-built mic/headphones
         only allowed to be submitted (without any background music).
      e) Mixing & mastering/editing/any form of tampering with the footage not allowed.
      f) Registration: The registration link is available in the brochure.
      g) There is no preliminary round, all those who register and submit the recording will be
         considered for direct finals.
      h) Submission: Recording shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the link is to be
         submitted through the Microsoft forms provided during the event.
      i) The decision of the judge is final.

4) Classical Vocal Solo (Carnatic/Hindustani)
      a) Only one entry per student is allowed.
      b) Duration of performance: 5 minutes.
      c) Rendition can be done in either Hindustani or Carnatic Style.
      d) Film songs are not allowed.
      e) Accompaniment other than shruti box or tampura is not allowed.
      f) Sufficient care and thought must be exercised in the choice of raga and composition.
      g) Raw video footage recorded using phone/earphone/headphone mic only allowed (without
          any background scores).
      h) Mixing & mastering/editing/any form of tampering with the footage not allowed.
      i) Registration: The registration link is available in the brochure.
      j) There is no preliminary round, all those who register and submit the recording will be
          considered for direct finals.
      k) Submission: Recording shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the link is to be
          submitted through the Microsoft forms provided during the event.
      l) The decision of the judge is final.

      b)    Duration of performance: 4-6 minutes.
      c)    Film songs / geet / ghazal / bhajan / Shabad and abhanges can be presented.
      d)    Accompaniment other than shruti box or tampura is not allowed.
      e)    Raw video footage recorded using phone/earphone/headphone mic only allowed (without
            any background scores).
       f)   Mixing & mastering/editing/any form of tampering with the footage not allowed.
       g)   Registration: The registration link is available in the brochure.
       h)   There is no preliminary round, all those who register and submit the recording will be
            considered for direct finals.
       i)   Submission: Recording shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the link is to be
            submitted through the Microsoft forms provided during the event.

DANCE

   1) Classical Solo
         a) The classical dance can be from any of the approved schools of dance (such as
             Bharatanatyam, kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Manipuri, Odissi, etc.)
         b) Duration of the dance: 10 minutes.
         c) Registration: The registration link is available in the brochure.
         d) The participant’s dance performance must be recorded as a video.
         e) There is no preliminary round, all those who register and submit the recording will be
             considered for direct finals.
         f) The Unique Code of Verification shall be provided at the commencement of the event
             (Has to be present throughout the video).
         g) Submission: Recording shall be uploaded in the student’s one drive and the link is to be
             submitted through the Microsoft forms provided during the event.
         h) Song track must be submitted prior to the final video submission for the approval of
             the screening committee. (before march 20th 2021 through
             email:amritotsavam@cb.amrita.edu)
         i) The decision of the judge is final.

    2) Loop Dance
Loop dance is a group event which is designed to stay home and safe but still dance with our mates. A
single song/music or some mix of songs/music is selected and it is divided equally among all the
dancers. Each person is supposed to choreo for their part, dance, and record it. These individual videos
are then combined to form a single one. If a member starts the song, the next portion of the song can be
danced by another, and so on. Shooting and editing can be done according to your convenience.
    1. The form of the dance should either be Indian (Folk/Tribal) or contemporary style.
    2. Duration of the dance: 10 minutes.
    3. 4 -10 participants are allowed per team (of the same house) + a Maximum of 2 editors (can be
        from other houses as well).
    4. Editors can be common for different teams, in that case, that editor shall be provided with only
        one certificate.
    5. A student can perform only in one group.
    6. The onscreen time should be equally divided among all the dancers. (e.g.:10 minutes divided by
        the number of participants).

       e) Genre/theme and the Unique Code of Verification shall be provided earlier.
       f) The script must be submitted prior to final video submission for the approval of the
          screening committee. (before Feb 25th, 2021 through

       g) Only one character should be on the screen for the entire movie and other characters can
          be represented as a voice-over in the movie.
       h) No vulgar or unparliamentary words will be used by the participating person during their
          performance.
       i) There is no preliminary round, all those who register and submit the recording will be
          considered for direct finals.
       j) Registration: The registration link is available in the brochure and only the team head
          needs to register.
       k) The decision of the panel of judges is final and binding upon all.
