Welcome to the 2018 Regent Aguila IRONMAN 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship here in Cebu, Philippines!
We are glad to host for the 2nd time the Asia-Pacific Championship in the beautiful island of Mactan. The
sport of triathlon here in the Philippines has truly come a long way from our very first IRONMAN 70.3 race
in 2009.
We at Sunrise Events Inc., worked closely with IRONMAN Asia to ensure consistency in rules between the
local Regent Aguila Energy Drink IRONMAN 70.3 Asia Pacific Championship Philippines Race Rules and the
2018 IRONMAN Global Competition Rules. You can view the rules from our website.
This year’s race will be fought by a powerhouse cast of professional and elite triathletes with over 40
professionals including champions from all over the world – 3-time defending IRONMAN 70.3 Philippines
Champion Tim Reed, Mauricio Mendez, Craig Alexander, Bradley Weiss, Radka Kahlefeldt, and Caroline
Steffen to name a few . The Age Group and Relay team races are also something to look forward to with a
number close to 3,000 participants! Winners from the professional, elite, age group and relay categories
will take home a range of prizes, treats as well as the title and bragging rights for the rest of the year! This
event will also be your first chance to grab a slot to the 2019 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nice,
France.
Festive Cebu Province will come alive with a range of fun spectator activities, expo offerings and food
vendors. Visit the Shangri-La Resort and Spa’s Marquee to see the biggest IRONMAN Expo ever with a huge
line-up of brands participating for that ultimate shopping and festival experience. You can swing by the
hotel’s Mactan Ballroom Foyer too for more treats and fun activities. As a side-event activity, the girls will
get their spotlight too via their very own 5KM Iron Girl run sponsored by Herbalife. It’s an all-frills 5KM fun
run open to girls 12 years old and above, happening on the afternoon of Friday, August 5. On Saturday
morning, it is the little ones turn as the pre-event Alaska IRONKIDS Triathlon is held at the Shangri-La Resort
and Spa’s beachfront. Make sure to be there to cheer on our little triathletes! More information about the
different pre-event activities can be found on our website - www.ironman.com/philippines70.3
The whole community of Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City and the rest of the province of Cebu are all ready
and excited to welcome and support all of you in your Regent Aguila IRONMAN 70.3 Asia Pacific
Championship Philippines journey. We wish you and your family a wonderful stay in festive Cebu and an
