* Jesus, Cast a Look On Me
Music and lyrics by Marva J. Dawn © 1999.
© MPJ Music. Words: John Berridge.
Music: Matthew Perryman Jones.
Additional Chorus words Jim Talarico; Music Greg Upton.

1. Jesus, cast a look on me; 3. Make me like a little child,
Give me sweet simplicity;                                 Of my strength and wisdom spoiled;
Make me poor, and keep me low, Seeing only in Thy light,
Seeking only Thee to know. Walking only in Thy might.

2. All that feeds my busy pride, 4. Leaning on Thy loving breast,
Cast it evermore aside;                                   Where a weary soul may rest;
Bid my will to Thine submit, Feeling well the peace of God
Lay me humbly at Thy feet. Flowing from Thy precious blood.

CHORUS                                                    CHORUS
I set aside my pride and purify my heart,
                                                          5. In this posture let me live,
Oh Lord come near to you;
                                                          And hosannas daily give;
And I submit myself In this temper let me die,
And wash my hands anew, And hosannas ever cry.
Oh Lord make me like you.
                                                          CHORUS

                                                                                               3
* Blessed Be Your Name
Music and lyrics by Matt and Beth Redman.
©2002 Thank You Music

1. Blessed Be Your Name, 2. Blessed be Your name
In the land that is plentiful, When the sun's shining down on me,
Where Your streams of abundance flow, When the world's 'all as it should be,
Blessed be Your name. Blessed be Your name.
Blessed Be Your name, Blessed be Your name,
When I'm found in the desert place, On the road marked with suffering,
Though I walk through the wilderness, Though there's pain in the offering,
Blessed Be Your name. Blessed be Your name.
PRE-CHORUS
                                               PRE-CHORUS
Every blessing You pour out,
I'll turn back to praise;
                                               CHORUS
When the darkness closes in Lord,
Still I will say:
                                               BRIDGE
                                               You give and take away;
CHORUS
                                               You give and take away;
Blessed be the name of the Lord;
                                               My heart will choose to say,
Blessed be Your name.
                                               Lord, blessed be Your name.
Blessed be the name of the Lord;
Blessed be Your glorious name.
                                               CHORUS (X2)

* CONFESSION OF SIN

Worship Leader: O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast
love with those who love him and keep his commandments…

People: We have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning
aside from your commandments and rules.

Worship Leader: To you, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us open shame.

People: To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, for we have rebelled
against him and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God by walking in his
ways. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive.
                                                                Adapted from Daniel 9

                                                                                        4
SILENT CONFESSION OF SIN
Worship Leader: Lift up your heads, you who have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus,
and hear these words of grace.

Words of Grace
Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous
Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and
righteousness in the land. In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely.
And this is the name by which he will be called: “The LORD is our righteousness.”
                                                                              Jeremiah 23:5-6

* That’s Why We Praise Him
Music and lyrics by Lisa Bevill

1. He came to live, live a perfect life. 2. He came to live, live again in us.
He came to be the living word, our light. He came to be
He came to die, so we’d be reconciled. Our Conquering king and friend.
He came to rise, He came to heal,
To show his power and might. To show the lost ones his love.
                                                      He came to go prepare a place for us.
CHORUS
That’s why we praise him; CHORUS
That’s why we sing.
That’s why we offer up our everything. BRIDGE (X2)
That’s why we bow down Halle-Hallelujah!
And worship this king;                                Halle-Hallelujah!
Because he gave his everything;
Because he gave his everything. CHORUS

(You-all) Praise the Lord!

                                         Sermon Outline

1). Who is it that worships?

  The word praise occurs 13 times in 6 verses in the English translation of Psalm 150. In each
 case we have the 2nd person plural imperative. In other words, it’s imperative that you-all (the
                               LORD’s people) praise the LORD.
                (Hallelu Yah 2x, Hallelu El 1x, Halleluhu 9x and Tehallel Yah 1x)

 And, this ‘you-all-praise’ is not for us to perform on our own time. This ‘you-all-praise’ is to be
                         done corporately as one people in the sanctuary.
                                 (2 Peter 2: 4—10; Matthew 18: 20)

 The use of many various instruments gives us a vivid picture of the massive scale of Israel’s
corporate Temple worship. Many various instruments were needed in order to lead the masses
    in worship. In other words, worship is not about a performance of a few, it is about the
                                      participation of all.
                                                                                               6
                All this challenges modern American assumptions about worship.
Putting "Y'All" Back into Worship
                                           Psalm 150
                                 Summer Psalms and Proverbs

- Do we come to worship as casual spectators?
- Do we come to worship as public performers?
- Do we come to worship as self-centered consumers?

2). Who is it that we worship?

                     What drives such singularly focused corporate worship?

              Worship may involve each and every one of us, but it is not about us.
           Worship is to be exclusively God centered. (Exodus 20: 2—11; Deut. 5: 6—15)

                     a). We are to praise the LORD God for his mighty deeds.

    Of course, these mighty deeds include all forms of providence; but, more importantly, this is
                       about his mighty acts of salvation in redemptive hist

            b). We are to praise the LORD God for his excellent character – who he is!

               Objectionj: How can a bunch of broken sinners truly praise the Lord?

                Our present earthly worship is training us for an eternity of worship.
                      (Revelation 19: 1—5; 22: 1—5 with 2 Corinthians 4: 17)

                                                                                             7
The Lord’s Supper
Minister: Jesus said, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and
whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”

People: The bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the
world.

Minister: If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that Christ gives for
the life of the world is his flesh.

People: Whoever feeds on his flesh and drinks his blood has eternal life, and Christ will
raise him up on the last day.
                                                                    Adapted from John 6

All who trust Christ for salvation and desire to live for him are invited to participate. If that doesn’t
describe you, feel free to sit and reflect on what God may be saying to you through His Word.

Please come forward down the center aisle and return to your seat via the side aisles. Select either
grape juice (in the clear cups) or wine (in the red cups). Gluten-free wafers are
available upon request. After receiving the elements, we return to our seats to partake together.

Children who have not yet made a profession of faith are invited to come forward for prayer at a
prayer station. If your child is ready to profess their faith, please speak with our pastor or one of
the Elders

                                                                                                            8

1. O for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer’s praise,
The glories of my God and King,
The triumphs of His grace!

To spread through all the earth abroad
The honors of Thy name.

REFRAIN
O for a thousand tongues to sing,
My great Redeemer I’ll sing Your praise;
The glories of my God and King,
The triumphs of His grace!

3. Jesus, the name that charms our fears,
That bids our sorrows cease;
’Tis music in the sinner’s ear,
’Tis life, and health, and peace.

4. He breaks the power of reigning sin,
He sets the prisoner free;
His blood can make the foulest clean,
His blood availed for me.

REFRAIN

5. Hear Him, ye deaf; His praise, ye dumb,
Your loosened tongues employ;
Ye blind, behold your Savior come,
And leap, ye lame, for joy.
