SPORT, DETAILS AND FEES

Archery
Takes place at Avonside Girls’ High School. Term 1 offers coaching and fun shooting where
students can learn and compete in indoor archery. Sessions run at lunchtimes on Thursdays.
Or whenever the outside provider sets the days. Approx.Cost $70 /term. Dependent on num-
bers. This is charged per session that the student attends.

Cricket
Takes place at Hagley Park, Hospital Corner or at various school venues around Christchurch
on Wednesday afternoons. Super 8 (8 a side), or 11 a side teams available depending on
numbers. Each innings consists of a maximum of 20 overs – finishing time varies! Sport Fee

Tournament costs will be incurred if a school team is entered. Plus cost of Uniform hire. No
team 2020

Softball
Takes place at either Cuthbert’s Green Ball Park, Pages Road or at various school venues.
Games commence at 3pm over 7 innings, or one hour. Dependent on numbers and coach
being available. Sport Fee $20. Tournament costs will be incurred if a team is entered. Plus
cost of Uniform Hire.

Indoor Netball
Takes place on Wednesday afternoons, mainly at Action Sports or Howzat Venues but occa-
sionally elsewhere. Games at 3.15 pm, 3.45 pm and 4 pm. Thirty minutes duration. Court Hire
Fee $20. P.E. Uniform is to be worn.

Futsal.
Takes place at various school gymnasiums on Wednesday afternoons. Games are played at
the 3.30pm or 4pm, 30 minutes duration. Dependent on numbers.and cost dependant on en-
try fees to competitions. Tournament is a separate cost.

Tennis
Takes place Wednesday afternoons at Wilding Park or school venues around Christchurch.
Finish times are hard to predict, depending on length of games, singles and doubles played.
.Each player must be an competitive player. The Secondary Schools Competition is run and
students that play competitions are eligible for this. There is a cost to this entry. Sport Fee $20.
Plus cost of Uniform Hire.
Volleyball
Takes place on Monday afternoons at various times and in various locations. Games are
at the most 60 minutes duration. Students need to arrange their own transport to and
from venues. The top senior and junior teams take part in Canterbury and South Island
school tournaments. Sub $30 Tournament Costs will occur for the Senior Teams for tour-
naments.

Multisport
Certain Canterbury Events held throughout the year. Students are offered these events
as they occur. All events but individual entries need to be paid separately.
Uniform hire is paid if competing plus the completion entry fees.

Fencing
Held all year round in the Gym after school. All gear is provided. Competitions are held
and students are entered if available. Cost $20 sport fee plus the cost of competitions.

Equestrian
Canterbury Secondary School events are held in Dressage, 1 day event and Show jump-
ing. All students must have their own horse and it must be qualified in the correct level for
competing. Entry to be paid for by the individuals.

Dragon Boating
This is available for Year 13.. This is a new format this year and will be run over 6 weeks. 5
trainings and then a regatta at the completition of the season. More information to
come.

Rowing
Term 1 and 4 the season starting in Term 4 through to Term 1. Winter training is also availa-
ble for the squad. Cost approximately $3000. Individual Uniform costs. Transport/
Accommodation to
Regattas and competitions. Maadi Cup trip costs are separate.A separate booklet is
available in Term3

Climbing
At school gymnasium, Thursday afternoon 3 till 5pm. Cost $20. Term by term entry.
Disability Sports
Special Olympic Events are available

Croquet and Bowls
Dependent on numbers. Sport Fee $20. Cost of Uniform Hire. None 2021

Interschool Athletics
Canterbury Secondary Schools Preliminaries and Finals are held in Christchurch. The stu-
dents are selected according to their results at the School Championships. South Island
and Nationals teams are then selected through this. Individual entry costs and then travel
and accommodation to further events.

Interschool Swimming
Canterbury Secondary Schools Prelims and Finals are held in Christchurch. The students
are selected according to their results at the School Championships. South Island and
Nationals teams are then selected through this. Individual entry costs and then travel and
accommodation to further events.

Yachting
Dependent on numbers. Under parental supervision but can compete for the school in In-
terschool competitions. Individual entry.

Fitness Room
A new set up is being finalised with the arrival of new equipment.More infprmation will be
available when organised.

Touch
Played on a Wednesday afternoon after school.
Sub $20 plus uniform hire if needed.

Waterpolo played on Wednesday nights at jellie park. Costs worked out on costs of
pool practice hire and competitions. TBC when we have a coach
Sports Uniform Hire
Term 1 $10
Term 4 $10
Tournament teams track suit Hire for the day or weekend only $20
Tournament season, if needed $40.

Taxi Fees
Students may need to catch a taxi to a venue if they have not got any transport. This is
booked at team checks at interval on the day that they play. One way, ie to the venue
will be $10. If they return by taxi it will be another $10.
