Why students should be making an extra effort in
MFL
 Effort- why is it important?
 Gladwell and Ericsson agree that
   'becoming accomplished in any field
in which there is a well-established
history of people working to become
   experts requires a tremendous amount
of effort exerted over many years. It
may not be 10,000, but it will take a lot'
   (Ericsson and Pool, 2016)
Effort

 Research found that there was a link
   between effort and achievement.
 It also became clear that generally
pupils who were getting better grades
were putting more EFFORT into their
   studies.
 What does EFFORT look like?
  Effort = independent learning
At home- 20 minutes a day till May (June.)

 Learn vocab every week use booklet etc
 Keep up to date with speaking prep and
practise Q and A regularly (small exercise
   book.)
 Students should complete feedback on
written work and learn from mistakes.
 Work on Active Learn or other websites as
   suggested by the teacher.
Independent work

• Complete activities in the work booklet
(available on Parent Pay)and to be set
 by teachers after half term

   struggle
Effort In lessons.

 Success doesn't happen by magic
Effort In lessons.

 Students should take note of
   vocab/new structures with out being
   asked

 Ask questions: the teacher is there to
   help
