• Give an overview of the needs we’re looking to address
• Take you through the key dates and things to think about

Our Strategic Priorities
Focusing our funding on the best-placed organisations:
• We will prioritise funding to organisations who:
     –   have strong links to the community they serve.
     –   can adapt and pivot during the pandemic
     –   can connect and respond effectively to the individual needs of children and young people in their local context.

Sharing Power with Children & Young People:
• Children and Young People will be more involved as active participants, leaders and co-producers

Championing and Leading on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion:
• Equity, diversity and inclusion will be front and centre in all our decision-making processes and
   decisions.

Reaching disadvantaged children and young people disproportionally impacted by COVID-19:
• We will tackle the key issues impacting on already disadvantaged young people.

What’s important
What grants are available?
• Main and Small Grants
• The deadline for all applications is 12th April 2021 at 11.30am.
• You can only apply for one type of grant
• Grants may be for up to 3 years
• Applicants to both Main and Small grants will hear about the
  funding decisions before the end of July 2021
• We accept applications from new applicants, and organisations
  which already have a BBC Children in Need grant.
Who can apply?
Organisations who:
• Are not-for-profit
• Are based within the UK
• Meet our Minimum Standards in Grantmaking
• Apply through our website application portal
Minimum Standards
These are the minimum standards an organisation
must meet to be eligible for funding from BBC
Children in Need, they cover:
• Governance
• Financial
• Safeguarding

Main Grants 2020
• Organisations can apply for £10,001 or more,
  per year
• We are highly unlikely to award more than
  £40k a year for one or two year funding
• We are highly unlikely to award above £100k
  in total for 3 year applications
Small Grants 2020
• Organisations can apply for up to (and
  including) £10,000 per year.
• Recognise where a relatively small amount of
  money can make a big difference.
• For this Small Grant round you can apply for
  less than 50% of the total project cost.
What can’t you apply for?
•   Work which statutory bodies have a duty to fund.
•   For capital or building projects.
•   To individuals or passed on to another organisation.
•   Where work has started before the grant is given.
•   Projects that start 12 months after the grant award.
•   Projects during school time without a clear reason for
    this.
What can you apply for?
• Project delivery (including staffing and salary
  costs)
• Creative solutions to deliver much needed
  services
• Organisational costs to support stability and
  adaptation.
•Use the portal on the website.
                                               Application process
           •Complete and submit your application through this.
 Apply

           •Email acknowledgement & information on the next stages
           •Initial review – balanced portfolio at a local level; the volume of applications; the budget available.
Review     •Check – eligibility criteria and minimum standards met

           •If invited to assessment stage, an assessor will contact you to arrange a telephone call.
           •The assessor will ask you questions about your application and your organisation’s safeguarding in more detail.
Assessed

           •National (Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales) and England Regional Advisory Committees consider all the applications in the relevant Nation or Region.
           •They advise the Impact Committee (sub –Committee of our Board) on applications recommended for funding.
Decision   •CiN Board has the final decision making authority.

           •Once the final decisions have been made, you will be informed of the decision by email.
           •You can request additional feedback on your application.
Notified
