Middle School and Westlake High School. Thanks to the support of our community, we were recently able to construct a new high school,
middle and elementary school, and Dover was fully renovated in 2014.
Opened in 2013, Westlake High School is 365,450 sq. ft. sitting on 47 acres, boasting a 4,500-seat football stadium, tennis courts, softball
and baseball fields, and an 850-seat performing arts center. The nearly 30 acres that make up the Lee Burneson Middle School and Dover
Intermediate School campus include over 257,700 sq. ft. of parking lots and roadways, allowing for safe and structured traffic patterns during

Everyone at Westlake City Schools works hard to ensure our students are safe, healthy and have the resources they need for success. Our
custodial and maintenance departments maintain over 750,000 square feet of the district’s facility space and 138 acres of green space, ball
fields and playground areas. The district’s six full-time maintenance personnel complete a wide range of work requests yearly, including

Mental Health
                                                                                                                                                                                              At Westlake City School District, our students’ health and well-being are our top priorities, and our mental health support services provide
                                                                                                                                                                                              students with ways to cope with and identify personal areas of concern. As part of our district’s focus on mental health, we administer a
                                                                                                                                                                                              social-emotional curriculum to all students through health class lessons and grade-level presentations on mental health. Students and families
                                                                                                                                                                                              may also access our community resource list to find mental health services in their area.
                                                                                                                                                                                              At Westlake Elementary School, three school counselors provide guidance lessons to all classes, host small guidance and social skills groups,
                                                                                                                                                                                              and work one-on-one with students who need individualized support for social/emotional needs. WES students also have the support of a
                                                                                                                                                                                              full-time social worker who serves grades PK-6, supporting individual students and working closely with families who benefit from access to
                                                                                                                                                                                              additional district and community resources.
                                                                                                                                                                                              DIS employs two school counselors and one PK-6 social worker to support the needs of students and families. LBMS employs two school
                                                                                                                                                                                              counselors and one social worker for grades 7-12. The national school counselor average is 451:1 while in Ohio the average is 403:1. On the
                                                                                                                                                                                              Dover Campus, the Westlake City School district provides one counselor per grade level, which equates to an average of about 247:1.
                                                                                                                                                                                              Our mental health services at Westlake High School provide four school counselors and one social worker focused on grades 7-12 to help
                                                                                                                                                                                              improve student success by implementing a comprehensive program that focuses on academic achievement strategies, emotional intelligence,
                                                                                                                                                                                              interpersonal skills and data analysis to identify student issues and challenges. Students who need tier-3 support can utilize our school social
                                                                                                                                                                                              worker or substance abuse counselor.
                                                                                                                                                                                              The Westlake City School District employs five school psychologists with expertise in mental health and learning and behavior skills to help
                                                                                                                                                                                              children succeed academically, socially, behaviorally and emotionally.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             All Ohioans who are experiencing a mental health
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             or addiction crisis, and their family members,
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             are able to call, chat, or text the 988
