St. Flannan Cathedral, Killaloe - Historic Church Tour

DETAILS:           A historic Church on the river’s edge in Killaloe. Its period dates from the
                   transition between Romanesque and Gothic periods. Its style is
                   mainly Gothic; some features are the 12th century Romanesque
                   doorway. The Ogham stone dating to about 1000 AD has an                Free
                   inscription in Runes, a Scandanavian script, 12th century High
                   Cross, 13th century fort - The Cathedral tower houses a chime
                   of 8 beus installed in 1896. The Cathedral organ dates from 1900, was
                   restored in 1965, enlarged in 2002, and has 1500 pipes. The Church will be
                   open from 9.30 to 21:00 everyday - with guided tours around the church
                   and up the bell tower each day from 15:30 to 16:30. People have the
                   opportunity to ring the bell on the tour.

“Working Party” - Conservation Workshop
