Graduation Requirements
Students must earn a minimum of 42 credits in order to
graduate
   1 credit is earned for each 18-week course passed with a
   grade of D- or better

Students must pass the 10th grade ISTEP tests in English and
math.

Students are expected to complete the Indiana Core 40
requirements in order to earn a diploma

Required Courses for Freshmen
Physical Education
    May take 1 semester in the summer
Biology I
Choice Areas
    English 9: Regular or Pre-AP
         by recommendation
         Pre-AP requires summer reading assignment
    Math – Algebra I or Geometry by recommendation
         Algebra: did not take Algebra I or received a grade of C or below at AMS
         Geometry: passed Algebra I at AMS
         AMS Algebra I grades will appear and stay on the student’s AHS
         transcript!
Teacher Recommendations
    based on 1 semester of 8th grade work
    discuss with middle school teachers and high school counselors
    some flexibility is possible – final grades will be reviewed and changes may be made
Other Courses for Freshmen
Electives
     def: anything that is not required
     fill in elective choices with academic requirements, interest areas,
     and/or Academic Lab
Preparing for College and Careers (PCC)
     students will explore a variety of career areas
     helpful in determining future plans for those who are unsure about
     career and even for those who “know” what they want to do
Band and Choir are full-year commitments
Theatre Arts, Fashion & Textiles, Interior Design may be counted as fine
arts credits
Student Media (AHS Yearbook): requires an additional application
