After a short, but much needed, respite from COVID-19 mandates this
summer, we are now back in the reality that we must navigate the Delta
variant and any other mutation of the virus that could affect our region.
There is obviously a lot of information and data out there that we are
trying to digest right now and I am working with legal counsel to
identify our obligations and limitations under the law.
We have the duty to do our best to provide a safe workspace to our
employees and our members while they are here at the Club. While
we discuss our way forward and present our recommendations to
the Board of Directors at their meeting on August 12, our current
COVID-19 guideline is: “The LPOA and The Lakewood Oaks Country
Club strongly encourages non-vaccinated residents and resident/non-
resident golf members who visit the offices, golf shop, or food and beverage
areas to wear a mask.”

Heat Exhaustion Warning Signs
Heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion, heat stroke and cramps
happen when your body can’t keep itself cool. As the temperature
rises, your body produces sweat to stay cool. On hot, humid days, the
increased moisture in the air slows down this process.
Air temperature isn’t the only factor. Humidity can play a role in how
your body cools. The heat index measures the air temperature plus the
effects of humidity. If the temperature is 90 degrees, for instance, and
the relative humidity
is 70%, the air feels
as though it’s 106
degrees. A heat index
of 90°F or higher calls
for extreme caution.
High humidity
makes it harder for
sweat to evaporate
from the body.
Prolonged exposure
to high temperatures
increases your risk of
heat-related illnesses.

GOLF—It is a curious thing. Chasing this little ball around. Seems
rather tedious, maybe boring to you non-golfers, yet, so addicting,
infuriating, and intoxicating for the golf lover. I am the latter. There is
nothing I would rather do. Perhaps part of the attraction is spending
4 hours together with great friends, or maybe your family. Lakewood
is a great place to play this game of golf. I have been fortunate to have
found great golf buddies, but more importantly, good friends!
