Membership 2020 - Dedicated to Outstanding Service - Union Jack Club
Welcome from the Chief Executive
A very warm welcome to the new 2020
Union Jack Club membership year, one which
promises to be busy - with many improvements and
events planned for your comfort and enjoyment.
Included in this update is a summary of the
extensive upgrades and changes made during
2019, all of which have been made possible only
with our members’ support and the hard work and
                               commitment of our team.

During the last 12 months our room, banqueting and meeting room bookings have
continued to grow, with many making use of facilities both as a base for business and as
a place for socialising and pleasure. Whatever the reason for your stay, you know you will
be well looked after, with delicious food, in a relaxed, safe and welcoming environment.
Our new branding exercise is complete, with a strong new logo and a firmly positioned
promise that the Union Jack Club is ‘Dedicated to outstanding service for serving
and veteran enlisted members of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces’. Thank you to all the
members who assisted in this exercise, which has delivered the excellent new look of
which we can be proud.
I wish to thank Vice Admiral Sir Fabian Malbon, KBE President of the Union Jack Club
from May 2011 to June 2019 who has driven forward many improvements throughout
his tenure. Sir Fabian is much liked by members, trustees and staff, many of whom
said their farewells this summer. We now are delighted to welcome as President, Vice
Admiral Sir David Steel KBE DL. Sir David has been a trustee for four years and brings
to us a wealth of military, charity and commercial experience.
The Union Jack Club is a registered charity founded in 1904 and over 21 million
members and guests have passed through our doors. In 2020 we will continue to
invest, with work planned across several more accommodation floors and our
conference and banqueting facilities. To continue to be able to develop, we welcome
and thank you for all donations and legacies.
As we look forward to an exciting and rewarding future, we will continue to strive to
remain relevant to our members and the Union Jack Club five-year plan is now available
on our website for your interest and feedback.
On behalf of our trustees and staff I look forward to seeing you time and again throughout
2020, here at the Union Jack Club in the heart of London, our great capital city!
Simon Atkins,
Chief Executive
