Welcome, dear angler friends
I am delighted to express on my name and on behalf of the Italian Sport
Fishing and Underwater Activities Federation (FIPSAS), the best
greetings to all participants at these World Championships that this year
are going to take place from July the 30th to August 4th, in Novi di
Modena (MO).
I am sure that all the athletes present, who will join Novi di Modena as
well as all the managers, judges and stewards will find a way to explore
and appreciate our beauties and enjoy the hospitality of the people from
the Region of Emilia-Romagna and all those who have all done efforts
to organize this important sport fishing event.
I am particularly delighted to express my warmest welcoming to all in the aim to live together
some happy days in the name of sport.
A special “good luck” to all Judges convened to manage this race, in the certainty of their
professional and fair commitment they have also expressed in precedent occasions.
Finally, I wish to thank the hosting Organizers, the local authorities and all journalists for their
support and contribution for this event’s good success.

Here we are again in Cavo Lama di Modena, a competition venue
famous for the sport fishing.
In 2007, this venue already hosted the Coarse Angling European
Championship and, in that occasion, we had a proof of its great
fishery.
I am very excited of returning back to Cavo Lama, keeping
memories the great results achieved by the Italian team in that
occasion and bearing in mind the successes of our coarse angling
national teams and of the Italian Federation in the last seasons.
I am also very delighted of rediscovering these territories, torn by earthquake in 2012, which are
however still very beautiful, well managed and as efficient as before. I take this opportunity for
thanking all political local authorities and the local FIPSAS as well for their hard work managed
over these past years and for organizing this championship.
Here, I can only start with youth, our hopes, by engaging myself for deserving to them, in quality
of President of the Surface Fishing Division, a sport fishing rich in values, emotions and fair
play.
I am certain that it is going to be a great week of sport, an occasion for launching this discipline
among the young world that is always aiming to search for new stimulants and alternatives, but
that is sometimes distracted towards fair and affordable opportunities as those ones of the sport
fishing.

Coarse Angling Youth World Championships 2018, which will
be a great occasion for promoting the territory of Novi di
Modena, which is recovering since the recent earthquake. We
will make all our efforts for setting out a great happening for
enhancing the sport fishing, for raising the youth’s interest and
supporting the environment’s culture and defence.

PROGRAM
Novi di Modena is a village of 10,245 citizens in the province of Modena, Emilia-Romagna
Region, in the north side of the main city of the Region. It is part of the four Municipalities of the
“Terre d’Argine”. The village is located inside of the low region of Modena.
The origin of this village belong to the Roman epoch, as it is deduced by archaeological findings.
The village of Novi di Modena was hit by earthquake of Emilia in 2012, which even caused one
victim, many damages to industrial and agricultural structures and which endangered some
historical buildings, including the tower, symbol of that village.

EVENT PERIOD

The competition will take place on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th August, 2018
THE COMPETITION VENUE • CAVO LAMA
The competition will take place on a canal called CAVO LAMA, from Ponte Tagliana to Ponte
Scuole (Under 20 and Under 25) and Ponte Borelle (Under 15).
The competition site extends without interruptions and it is flanked by a road suitable for vehicles.
The entry into the venue, during the competition, will be only allowed to authorized persons
supplied with entry pass; visitors will have access to the venue after leaving their vehicle in a
parking area located nearby the venue.

The depth of the canal ranges from 2.00 to 3.00 metres. The average width of the canal is 40
metres.
The main species of fish are: Carp from g 30 to g 2000; Carassius vulgaris from g 10 to g 200.
There are also smaller amounts of: bleak (Alburnus albidus), rudd (Scardinus erythrophthalmus),
catfish and other species.
The most used techniques are: Roubaisienne and English rods.

a) coming from Milano, take the Autostrada del Sole (A1) to Modena, and turn onto the

b) coming from the Brenner and Verona (A 22) the recommended exit is Rolo Reggiolo; then
take the road towards Moglia and you reach Novi after 8 km.

REGISTERING FOR THE EVENT
Registration for the event must be received by the Organising Committee by 31st May 2018 at
the latest, by filling in the attached form with payment of the registration fee by bank transfer.
All the folklore initiatives and other information on the event will be provided subsequently.

OPENING CEREMONY
The opening ceremony will take place at 6:00 pm on Wednesday 1st August 2018 at “Campo
sportivo comunale - Uber Chiari” di Novi di Modena in via a Raffaello Sanzio, 28.
Competitors, Captains and Managers must arrive by 5:30 pm.
AWARD CEREMONY
This will take place at 7.00 pm on Saturday 4 August 2018 Casa dello Sport “Tina Zuccoli”, via
Eugenio Curiel, 48 in Rovereto sul Secchia.
GALA DINNER
The closing dinner will take place at 8:30 pm on Saturday 4 August 2018 Casa dello Sport “Tina
Zuccoli”, via Eugenio Curiel, 48 inRovereto sul Secchia.
PROGRAMME OF OFFICIAL TRAINING
For official training, boxes will be assigned for the draw on Monday morning from 7:00 am to
9:00 am according to an official list; drawing will be made directly at the competition venue at
the stand of the organizers.
Trainings will be conducted as follows:
Monday and Tuesday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm;
Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm;
Training on Thursday morning is compulsory.
It is obligatory for the participating countries to confirm the date of their arrival at least ten days
before the date of the first training; any country absent on Thursday morning before the
competition, even if registered, shall be considered as having renounced and shall automatically
be excluded from the Championship.
