Coastal Music Park Fundraising 2021 Information Sheet
Knightdale High School of Collaborative Design Bands
We are very excited for the 2021 – 2022 KHSCD Band Year! Our major fundraiser for the band begins in July 2021 and we
need everyone's help!
Coastal Music Park (located at 3801 Rock Quarry Rd; Raleigh, NC 27610) allows us to work their concession window which helps us to raise money
for all our band efforts!
Imperative Fundraising: This is an opportunity for both parents and students to assist in decreasing their costs associated with the band. Some of
those associated costs include future Spring trip fees, Marching band fees, and other trip fees. This is our major fundraiser for our band, and it
supports about 50% of our annual band budget. All the bands have associated costs, so it is imperative that we all assist. Currently, without this
fundraiser, we will not be able to financially support all the great things that the band participates in.
Who can participate? Any person (parent, band member, family, friend) over the age of 16 years old can work! Those who are over the age of 16
can work as a runner. Runners place foods in appropriate containers and bring food to each of the concession windows. For those who work and
are over the age of 18 years old, they can sell concessions and will have to attend one of the one-hour training sessions provided by Coastal Music
Park.
Each Concert: For each concert we need at least 4 trained adults (over the age of 18) and 4 runners, the more who volunteer, the more we can
get back to support the band efforts! Trained adults take orders and run the register, and runners assist with simple food prep and order
assembly. Prior experience is not a requirement. All volunteers are trained beforehand, and there are always more experienced volunteers at each
show to assist if needed. On average, we make approximately $600 per concert. Typically, we must arrive at least one hour before gates open.
Participation from Everyone is Requested: Each worker is given a credit from the concert to their band account, which can assist in paying for
band fees, spring trip fees, school tours, other trips, etc. The remaining amount of funds goes to the general band fund. This fundraiser is geared
towards ALL band programs. All band programs have expenses/costs, so we strongly encourage every parent and student to be dedicated in
raising funds for our Band Program to succeed. We know that some parents may not be able to commit to working at Coastal. Fortunately, the
students, their siblings, other family members or friends can assist to help earn towards a family’s fair share.
Dress Code: black shorts/pants (no basketball jersey type shorts); black baseball hat/visor (no logos or words); closed-toed, comfortable tennis
shoes. Coastal Music Park will provide red shirts upon entry to the venue for each concert that workers must wear.

Training: For those who work and are over the age of 18 years old, they can sell concessions and will have to attend one of the one-hour training
sessions provided by Coastal Music Park.
Special Note: Due to COVID restrictions, we were not able to conduct any fundraising efforts last year; hopefully we can “bounce back” and really
help our band fundraising this year!
MASKS you ask….?! Bring a mask with you, each concert may be different depending on the updates provided to us.

PARENT/STUDENT COASTAL INFORMATION
SEE INFORMATION AT BOTTOM REGARDING OFF SITE PARKING SHOWS (This information may change and will be updated as it is provided to us.)
The Coastal fundraiser is to benefit the entire KHS band program including Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz, Percussion, and Marching band/Color
Guard. The KHS Band Association covers expenses that are incurred for every type of band at KHS.
• It is important that we fully staff all shows, otherwise we do not get the full amount of proceeds. This will result in us having to share the proceeds with
other organizations and possibly losing this fundraising mechanism for future shows.
o To be fully staffed, we need a minimum of 4 trained adults to work windows and 4 student or parents to be food runners.
• At the beginning of each week, you will need to confirm with each of the individuals, both adults and students that have signed up for concert that they
will still be working show(s). You can do this by texting them.
• For new workers, they will need to know the following:
o Dress code:
▪ Completely Black pants/shorts/capris (No basketball shorts)
▪ Black hat or visor (no words/pictures can be on hats); we do have hats in our bin for individuals to borrow if needed.
▪ I suggest that individual where tank tops to concerts because they will be provided a shirt upon entering staff gates that they will need
to wear.
▪ Covered comfortable shoes (sneakers are best), floors at times can be slippery.
▪ Have a mask with you (as this information may be changed depending on updates that they provide us).
o For shows:
▪ Arrival time for workers WILL BE EMAILED WHEN WE ARE NOTIFIED BY COASTAL.
▪ Most shows end at 11pm and typically they allow our group to close their windows at about 10:15-10:30pm. It takes an additional 45
minutes after windows are closed for clean-up. If there is a rain/storm delay, the concert could be extended.
o If parking is off site, they will need to go to SE Raleigh Magnet School (2600 Rock Quarry Rd, Raleigh, NC 27610) and leave car at school, take
bus/shuttle to venue which Coastal provides to/from concert venue. The bus will drop off at entrance for staff and drop off at parking area at
end of concert. Please note that typically if bussed at end of the night that it can take about 30+ minutes to get back to parking area. At end of
the night, I would suggest that you turn right onto Rock Quarry Road (turning left will get you into concert traffic that is leaving venue)

o If parking is on site, they will need to go to the main entrance at Coastal Music Park (3801 Rock Quarry Rd, Raleigh, NC 27610), tell them that
you are working for Legends and they will direct you to parking area. In past years, parking was located by getting in the far-right hand lane,
which is labeled Lane 5 VIP parking. Follow this lane to a point where they turn right and then workers will direct them to park in grass area to
the right. Once they park, they will need to walk across the parking area to a white canopy tent area/staff entrance.
o Once at staff entrance, they will need to sign in. The sign in book is on top of the brown wooden stand. They find the tab for Knightdale and then
initial next to their name.
o Once inside the gate, there is typically a table to the right with Red Coastal shirts, each worker will have to get shirt to wear.
• For new individuals volunteering, you will need to train them on registers and train runners as well.
o It is imperative that runners:
▪ Use the correct containers for each of the items because Coastal counts containers and if short, then they deduct from our proceeds.
▪ Do not throw away certain foods, such as hotdogs/hamburgers, without first notifying the Coastal manager on site otherwise they
deduct from our proceeds.
▪ If runners are students, they can never touch the alcohol for any reason. No student attending can touch any alcohol for any reason.
