COMPANY OVERVIEW - Swapcard
1. Company History
InText is located in Dnipro, Ukraine – the center of satellite and rocket
technologies (and one of the pillars of the military defense system) under
    the Soviet Union.

The company was founded in 2002 by Yuri Kaleniuk and his son Stanislav
Kaleniuk. Before founding InText, Yuri worked in the information department
at the Yuzhnoye State Design Office in Dnipro, an aerospace technology
company that developed nine types of space launch vehicles atop
which more than 1,100 spacecraft were put into orbit as a result of about
500 launches. A dedicated translator with a strong background in both
linguistics (Moscow State University) and technology (Dnipropetrovsk State
University), at InText, Yuri was responsible for carefully selecting vendors and
    assuring the quality of translations.

Prior to launching InText, Stanislav Kaleniuk, Yuri’s son, studied management
at the Ukrainian Academy of Customs. At InText, he combined the roles
of project management, business development, and hiring in-house
    employees.

InText has come a long way. What started as a provider of limited translation
services on the local market in Dnipro has grown into a powerful translation
company with a wide range of competencies that is an important player in the
global translation and localization services market.

As we work in a big industrial center, we benefit from numerous colleges
and universities that supply graduates with quality technical backgrounds.

Over the course of 17 years, the in-house team at InText has grown from
5 to 45 professionals who work in a modern office in the city center.

To meet growing demand from European customers, shareholders of InText
decided to establish a company in Estonia in 2018. The goal of this step
was to increase sales and improve cooperation with European clients and
partners while simplifying contractual frameworks and payment services.

2. Services
In 2018, InText provided services to over 228 corporate clients in 40 countries.
Our client base is growing even as the translation world is changing. We are
changing too by providing new services, taking on new tasks, working with new
languages and finding new technological solutions.

    2.1. Translation
We focus on complex translations in four areas:

    Technical and Engineering
We work with clients in many technical and engineering fields including
automotive, agriculture, aviation and aerospace, energy and power generation,
    and geology and mining.

    Life Sciences
This high-demand category includes topics such as medical equipment, clinical
studies, pharmaceuticals, and anything else of a medical nature.

    Information Technologies and Telecommunications
Our expert translators can handle all kinds of telecommunications and
IT documentation: hardware and software manuals, equipment specifications,
educational and enterprise software materials, texts related to telecommunications
    services, etc.

    Legal and Financial
We handle standard legal documentation, court notes, bills, tax forms, and dozens
of other types of legal and financial documents.
We’re not limited to these spheres, however. We also translate texts related
to human resources management, tourism, and many other fields.

    2.2. Machine Translation new
Nowadays, machine translation (MT) is being successfully applied by many
companies to different types of texts. Consequently, demand for post-editing has
increased significantly. Considering the intense pressure to minimize corporate
localization budgets and speed up the introduction of products to foreign
markets, it is no surprise that machine translation often comes up in our
    requests.

InText always strives to be in line with our clients’ expectations. Therefore,
over the past few months we have been developing a set of services related
to machine translation based on the provisions of ISO 18587.

We have tested a few neural engines and selected those that give the best
results for the types of texts we usually work with. Armed with this knowledge,
we are ready to suggest customized MT solutions.

We have prepared an InText Machine Translation Menu that better describes our
MT capabilities and lets our clients select the workflow they find most suitable
for their projects.

From our side, we already see and feel the benefits of using MT technologies,
and InText is willing to help our clients start working with MT. Rather than
supplanting a linguist’s work, MT supplements it and sometimes even
improves it. Our head linguists say that sometimes MT offers a better option for
a specific fragment, thus improving the overall output.

2.3. Transcreation
When it comes to translating marketing materials, a special approach is needed.
We use transcreation to render creative texts into a new language. This is the most
effective way to retain your message to your audience across cultural and linguistic
borders. Transcreation is translation plus adaptation of your marketing concept
to the language of your target audience. It involves finding words with emotional
impact in a new cultural and social context.
As a creative process, transcreation requires high-quality translation skills,
marketing expertise, and great copywriting skills, so it can be done only by a human.

                            2.4. Desktop Publishing
To meet the growing demand for optical character recognition (OCR), text layout
and related tasks, our desktop publishing (DTP) team has drastically increased its
                            capabilities in recent years.

2.5. Software Localization
We provide software localization solutions enabling Russian, Ukrainian and Kazakh
customers to interact with your software seamlessly in their own language.

When it comes to entering a new market, it is always crucial to speak with your
users in their language. Localization is not simply translation. It takes into account
local preferences, legal requirements, and expected formats.

Localization also means that all materials need to be translated – from menus,
buttons, and program messages to installation files, software documentation, user
manuals and learning videos.

We translate all kinds of software texts:
• User interface texts: Translation, compilation and dialog box resizing
• Help documents: Translation, compilation and post-compilation linguistic testing
• Manuals, user guides & brochures

We always offer guidance and any help needed at all stages of your project,
ensuring the successful delivery of your localized software product, on time and
within budget.

We provide our clients with professional desktop publishing services
in all languages.

Our DTP department has the capability to handle large volumes within tight
deadlines thanks to the work of five in-house specialists and about 20 freelancers
per day. We can prepare files for translation as well as fix formatting after
translation to get files ready for print.

Main formats we work with:

     DWG VDX PPT AI

2.6. Subtitling and Voice-over
The volume of multimedia content being translated is rapidly increasing.
We translate subtitles to adapt videos for local markets and different platforms.
Subtitles are needed for any video with an international audience.

You might have a bright promo video for your company that needs
to be translated into a new language for a new market. Or a film produced
in a foreign language that needs to be accessible to the deaf or hard of hearing.
Subtitles are also relevant for learning videos, instructional videos for software
and equipment, and video blogs of prominent experts.

We can transcribe the text from your video, translate it, and make it look good and
     fit your content.

We can even help you adapt videos and subtitles for posting on Facebook,
Instagram, YouTube or any other platform.

We also have an extensive database of voice-over and dubbing artists covering the
Russian and Ukrainian languages. We have the right voice for your project, whether
it is a corporate or promotional program, documentary, game or commercial.

2.7. Event Organization new
We organized our first translation forum in Dnipro in 2011. We also were media
partners for the Elia and GALA events, providing photo and video filming between
2010 and 2013.

In 2013, InText hosted its first international event – the Ukrainian Translation
Industry Conference in Kyiv. This conference saw great success, and has since
grown into a one-week open-air conference with more than 60 sessions,
masterclasses, concerts and other activities.

With vast experience in event organization, our team can provide:
   • Simultaneous interpreting
   •	Photo and video recording and online broadcasting on different platforms
      (YouTube, Facebook, Proz.com TV)
   • Video editing
   • Promo video creation
   • Event management
   • Other services by request

                                                                                                     11
3. Quality and Technologies
     3.1. Quality Standards
The InText’s Quality Management System complies with the international
     ISO 9001:2008 standard.

Our translation business process corresponds to ISO 17100:2016-05 European
Standard for Translation Services (registration number 7U396, issued by DIN Certco
     on 8 September 2016).

We have more than 100 different business processes. They are stored in our
corporate portal, integrated in our company’s translation management system
     and constantly reviewed and updated.

     3.2. QA Model
All our translators are native speakers of their target languages with experience
     and expertise in specific domains.

InText works with about 80 freelance translators every day. We carefully check their
CVs, give test translations and choose only those translators with the best results.
When translators start, they have to successfully complete their first five jobs.
We work with most of our translators for years.

We have a solid in-house editing team. Their combined experience in the
translation industry is 101 years per 7 people, or an average of 14.4 years
     per employee.

We have developed our own quality assurance (QA) model that has some
advantages compared to others that are used by our competitors and available
commercially. Our QA model allows us to quantify the quality of each project
and assess our translators’ performance in an unbiased way.

Yet more valuable is that unlike similar systems, ours allows us to decide what kind
of job is the most suitable for a particular supplier. Plus, our QA model is constantly
     being improved and revised.

As with translation projects, all our desktop publishing jobs are carefully checked
by a second person. Texts are double-checked by linguists before preparing
for print if needed, and we constantly are improving our DTP QA model.

3.3. Technologies We Use
We use professional software that allows us to make translations using the main
file formats for both PC and Mac.

We use different kinds of CAT tools for translation projects – Trados Studio,
MemoQ, Wordfast, Transit, Across, Poedit and many others – in order to work
with whichever tool is most convenient for the client.

DTP projects also require a lot of special software: ABBYY FineReader for
file preparation, Adobe InDesign, Adobe FrameMaker, AutoCAD, MS Visio,
MS PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop for fixing the layout and
preparing for print, Adobe Premiere for working with video editing and
various tools for subtitle preparation.

We strive to keep our software up to date and safe. We also assure information
security and compliance with GDPR requirements.

And of course, we take care of all our hardware and equipment to ensure its
reliability. For safety and security reasons, we use special software on servers and
workstations that performs centralized daily data backups, provide a firewall and
continuously updated virus protection, and offer VPN tunnels for remote employees.

A remote server hosted in a trusted European IT center is always up and in use
with VPN and RDP protocols.

We are ready to take any task and ensure the safety of your data.

                                                                                                 13

5.	Market
     5.1. Market Positioning Overview
The volume of content produced by companies has increased significantly,
and this content needs to be translated. Despite some reductions in the volume
of translations into Russian due to economic sanctions and the geopolitical situation,
the demand for translations into Ukrainian, Belarusian, and Kazakh is growing.
Thanks to our vast experience on international projects, we are ready to provide our
clients with top-notch services in Ukrainian and Russian. We have already started
to work with Kazakh and Belorussian, and we are ready to take on new challenges.
Since 2006, InText has mostly been working as a local supplier / contractor for other
translation companies (both multi- and single-language vendors). Our focus is on
partnerships with leading global multi-language vendors (MLVs), which gives us
a unique understanding of the specific needs of these clients. This market position
has helped us study industry best practices and develop our own business structure
in order to satisfy the needs of highly demanding clients.
Now that the global approach to translation is changing and the majority of texts
are being translated by machine translation, we must also change our business
processes and approaches. In almost all cases, machine translation requires post-
editing by a professional editor who is an expert in a certain field. We work with
machine translation post-editing, which is one of our main strategic fields of interest.
Although other MLVs have been penetrating Ukrainian market for the last few years,
we still have a competitive edge with a solid in-house team of project managers and
editors who are native speakers and have knowledge of the local culture along with
     solid educational backgrounds.
We also develop other business opportunities to maintain and strengthen our
position in the language industry market. Demand for DTP services is increasing,
and InText has the ability to provide these services in all languages.
As presented in the image below, the volume of DTP services provided by our
company has increased six-fold over the past seven years, making us an active
market player in DTP for multi-language vendors.
We are also developing new services and are planning to increase our volume
     of subtitle translations.

5.2. Future of the Ukrainian Language Service Market

                                       Ukrainian Market Overview: 2020
Five years ago, Ukraine’s people and the international community sensed an opportunity for fundamental
change. A lot of global companies that import their products to Ukraine have captured the trend and have
sensitively reacted by adapting documentation into Ukrainian as an added value. However, what is the real
     value of the move?
     The language situation
Ukraine country profiles by the most trusted online analytical sources convincingly demonstrate the heavy use of two
languages. For instance, the BBC and The Economist clearly indicate Ukrainian and Russian as major languages. The
department of Global Affairs Canada highlights the importance of Ukrainian as a language of translation during
     negotiations.
During the Soviet times, Russian was the common language of government and public life. That is the reason why
so many Ukrainian translation agencies provide high-quality services related to Russian today. Since the country
obtained independence in 1991, Ukrainian received status of the state language. However, this does not mean its
total domination in society. Ukraine, in fact, can be recognised as a bilingual country with most of its citizens being
     bilingual too.

     A wind of change
The year 2014 reshaped the mindset of Ukrainians due to the Euromaidan Revolution, the annexation of Crimea and
the subsequent military conflict in Donbas that changed the geopolitical landscape in Eastern Europe and impacted
business. As a result, Ukraine went through a nasty fiscal plunge, but it is rebounding now. The agriculture, IT,
healthcare, food and beverage, infrastructure, and renewable and nuclear energy sectors grew in 2018.
The presidential and parliamentary elections in 2019 brought a reform minded president and a new Parliament
supported by a majority of the population. The new prime minister has declared a commitment to accelerating
economic growth. And the Ukrainian economy demonstrates good prerequisites, e.g. a sharp reduction in the country’s
external and internal imbalances and an unexpected rise in GDP growth to 4,6% in Q2 2019 while Euro zone GDP
significantly slowed, with a 0,2% growth rate. Two authoritative world ratings of creditworthiness – US FITCH and
Japanese R&I – have upgraded Ukraine’s position to ‘B’ reflecting GDP growth and macroeconomic stability. Moreover,
Ukraine has climbed seven spots in Doing Business 2020 and is ranked 64th. The hryvnia is recognized as the best
performing currency of 2019. In addition, there is hope to restore peace in the Donbas region.

     Ukrainian speaking market is raising
Following institutional changes, the Ukrainian translation market is experiencing a transformation as well. The key
change is related to implementation of a stricter new language law “On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian
language as the state language”, which came into force in July 2019. According to this law, only Ukrainian is allowed
to be used by public authorities, local self-government bodies and in most aspects of public life. Ukrainian should be the
first language of use in the services sector and for all publicly available materials. Any business, including a foreign one,
registered or having a local office must have Ukrainian version of their website which should be loaded by default for
Ukrainian visitors. Most local news agencies have already become the first movers of the new law on the web.
Software publishers are required to sell their products with a UI in Ukrainian, as at any rate in an official EU language.
. As users mostly prefer to operate in their native language, the Ukrainian versions will be in demand. The law also
requires 90% of TV and film content in Ukrainian and at least 50% of the total output for Ukrainian-language printed
media and books. This means a significant need in dubbing and subtitling into Ukrainian.
The Ukrainian translation market is expected to follow the global trend of language services market growth – as well
as Ukraine’s overall economic rise – and reach US $100 million in volume in 2021, with a CAGR of 6,9%.

The right timing to find the right translation partner
To follow the new wave of transformation and dynamic changes in the country, any foreign company that operates
in Ukraine or is considering possibility to enter the market should have a solid background or a trusted local partner.
Finding the right partner among language service providers means finding someone who speaks the same language
as your customers. InText Translation Company is such a partner in the Ukrainian market.

6.4. Freelancers
We work hard to cultivate good relationships with our suppliers. We have established a team
of highly experienced and skilled freelancers with many competencies. At the end of 2018,
our supplier database contained 700+ specialists. We work with an average of 80 of these
specialists every day.

Our basic requirements for freelancers:
• Excellent knowledge of both foreign and native languages
• Specialization in certain areas (IT, technical, legal, etc.)
• More than 5 years’ experience in written translations
• Knowledge of CAT tools and overall tech literacy

To collaborate effectively with freelancers, we use our own metrics system that helps us assess
and track the quality of translations.

                                                                                                           25
7. UTIC
InText has been organizing translation industry events since 2011.

The first event we organized was the InText Translation Forum, for freelancers
     working with our company.

On 18 and 19 May 2013, InText organized the first Ukrainian Translation Industry
Conference, in Kyiv. UTIC-2013 was undoubtedly the largest translation industry
event in Ukraine and had a total of 369 attendees. Our next event, UTIC-2014, took
place on 17 and 18 May 2014, by which time we had already gathered a lot of
attention from regional and international translation communities.

But things change, and so did the conference. In 2016, the InText team decided to
try out a new concept and moved UTIC to the Meteorit campground, a former kids
camp in the village of Orlivshchyna, near the city of Dnipro. UTIC therefore turned
into UTICamp, a conference now known in various corners of the world as the most
unusual, eco-friendly, and warm event organized by translators for translators.

It’s a contemporary, technology-savvy, dynamic international conference held in a
forest reserve in complete harmony with nature.

Throw in the opportunity to come with your whole family, live in a tent and
completely switch off from your daily worries, and you have a recipe for
perfect recreation and networking. The latest event, UTICamp-2019, was a hit.
The conference welcomed 257 participants from 19 countries and featured
66 presentations in 5 tracks as well as six roundtable discussions on some of the
     hottest topics in the industry.

     * Our next event, UTICamp-2020, will take place July 20–26, 2020, at the same
     venue — the Meteorite campsite.

It will be UTICamp’s fifth anniversary, so be ready for something really great!

We welcome you to join us at the conference!
