students from India at the Great Hall, Newnham Campus of the College on 27 September 2018. This was the second such event
in a series of Welcome Ceremonies that the Consulate plans to organize to further enhance its outreach with Indian
international students coming to Canada. The Ceremony witnessed an attendance of about 100 Indian students, from 4
campuses of Seneca College, namely York, Markham, King and Newnham studying in under-graduate and post-graduate
programs. A special programme was curated for the students which included Welcome addresses by Mr. David Agnew,
President Seneca College; Mr. Michael Ferdinand International Student Advisor, Seneca College and a PowerPoint presentation
by Consul General Dinesh Bhatia. He engaged with the students laying emphasis on the most important fact of being an 'Indian',
which will always remain with them, no matter which country they live in. Emphasizing the mantra given by EAM that Indian
Missions are home away from home, he concluded by telling the students to consider the Consulate just like their second home
and that they should feel free to contact the Consulate in any sort of emergency situation.
