     MINISTRY OF YOUTH AFFAIRS AND SPORTS PARTNERS WITH
                            UNICEF
                                               Context:
      The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports partners with UNICEF to strengthen the resolve to
      mobilise 1 crore youth volunteers to achieve the goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

                                               Details:
      The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports signed a Statement of Intent with YuWaah (a multi-
      stakeholder platform formed by the UNICEF) to work in partnership to promote volunteerism
      among the youth of India as well as to help them transition from education and learning to
      productive work, skilling and being active citizens.
      The partnership will leverage both the Ministry and UN efforts to work with young people to
      co-create and implement solutions at scale tackling education, skilling and unemployment
      challenges for young people in India.
      This will include collaboration on:

              Supporting young people in entrepreneurship.
              Upskilling.
              Creating linkages with aspirational socio-economic opportunities.
              Promoting change-making and civic participation among young people.
              Providing career guidance support to young people.
              Supporting direct dialogue and the establishment of a feedback mechanism between
              young people and policy stakeholders.
              Building the capacity of the NSS and NYKS cadre and volunteer forces on sustainable
              development goals.

                                 MANODARPAN INITIATIVE
                                              Context:
      Manodarpan initiative launched by the Union HRD Minister.

                                  About Manodarpan initiative:
      It is an initiative launched by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development as part of the
      Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.
      The objective of the initiative is to provide psychosocial support to students for their mental
      health and well-being.
      The portal will include student counselling, tips, podcasts, etc. aimed at reducing stress levels
      and anxiety.

                                            Background:
      The outbreak of the global pandemic COVID-19 presents a challenging time for everyone
      around the world.
      Not only is this pandemic a serious medical concern, but it also brings mixed emotions and
      psycho-social stressors for all.
      There are emerging mental health concerns with a specific focus on children, adolescents and
      youth especially children with disabilities.
      Children and adolescents may be more vulnerable and may experience a heightened level of
      stress, anxiety and fearfulness, along with a range of other emotional and behavioural issues.
      Such unanticipated and sudden changes will be required to be addressed from all educational
      platforms.
      Teachers as well as families with an empathetic and patient approach can go a long way in
      mitigating such needs of children and adolescents.
      This time can also be challenging for teachers and parents.

The Manodarpan initiative has been launched with a view to provide support to students, families
and teachers all over the country and ensure their well-being.

                                                 Context:
      The first batch of five Indian Air Force (IAF) Rafale is likely to arrive in India by end of July 2020.

                                                  Details:
      IAF aircrew and ground crew have undergone comprehensive training on the aircraft, including
      its highly advanced weapons systems and are fully operational now.
      Post arrival, efforts will focus on operationalisation of the aircraft at the earliest, as per
      government sources.

       Tejas/Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Fighter Aircraft – Manufactured by India
   1. Tejas is a Lightweight Fighter Jet developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The
      aircraft was designed by the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO),
      Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA).
   2. Tejas – Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) program was envisaged to replace the Russian MiG-21
      fighter aircraft operated by Indian Air Force.
   3. Tejas is a single-engine multirole fighter aircraft.
   4. The LCA program was named Tejas in 2003.
   5. As of 2020, Indian Air Force (IAF) has two squadrons of Tejas Mk 1 Aircraft located at Sulur,
      Tamil Nadu.

                           Rafale Fighter Aircraft – Manufactured by France
   1. Rafale is a twin engine manufactured by Dassault Aviation of France. It is primarily used by
      French Air Force.
   2. Rafale fighter Jets will be operated by Indian Air Force, a deal was signed for 36 Rafale Fighter
      Jets. The deal was signed in 2016, it includes a package of spares and weapons including the
      highly acclaimed Meteor Beyond Visual Range Air to Air Missile (BVRAAM). Apart from Indian
      Airforce, Rafale has been chosen by Egyptian Air Force, Qatar Air Force.
   3. Rafale fighter jets were used in combat operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Mali.

                         Sukhoi 30 Fighter Aircraft – Manufactured by Russia
   1. Sukhoi 30 is a twin engine Fighter Jet manufactured by Sukhoi Aviation Corporation.
   2. There are many variants of Sukhoi-30 aircraft, and the variant used by Indian Air Force is Sukhoi
      30 MkI.
   3. Apart from Russian and Indian Air Force, the other users of Sukhoi-30 aircraft are Algeria, China,
      Vietnam, Venezuela, Malaysia.

   4. Sukhoi 30 MKI is the backbone of Indian Air Force. As of January 2020, India operates around
      260 Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jets. India has plans to buy more Sukhoi 30 MKI aircrafts, primarily to
      replace the ones lost due to accidents.

                  Engine – Saturn AL-31FL
                  Range – 3000 Km
Sukhoi-30         Maximum Speed – Mach 2
                  12 Hardpoints – Sukhoi 30 can carry different weapons and bombs in the 12 Hardpoints.
                  Radar – Bars Planar Array Radar

                         ZORAM MEGA FOOD PARK IN MIZORAM
                                                     Context:
        Union Minister inaugurates the Zoram Mega Food Park in Mizoram.

                                                      Details:
        The Food Park is spread over 55 acres and is expected to benefit more than 25000 farmers.
        It is also expected to provide employment opportunities to over 5,000 people in the region.
        This is the first Mega Food Park operationalized in the state of Mizoram.
        The North-East region has the potential to become the Organic Destination of the world due to
        its rich agricultural and horticultural produce.
        Sikkim has already been declared as an Organic State.

                                       About Mega Food Parks:
        The scheme was launched in 2008 and under this, the government provides financial
        assistance (up to Rs. 50 crores per food park) to set up modern infrastructure facilities for food
        processing.
        These facilities are called Mega Food Parks.
        The primary objective of the Scheme is to provide modern infrastructure facilities for food
        processing along the value chain from the farm to the market with a cluster-based approach
        based on a hub and spokes model.

                                 Central Processing Centre (CPC)
   1. CPC is an industrial park in a large area and houses a number of processing units owned by
      different business houses.
   2. The park shall provide common facilities such as electricity, water and effluent treatment
      besides specialised services such as warehousing, cold storage, logistics and backward
      integration through the network of Primary Processing Centres (PPC) and Collection Centres
      (CC).

                                 Primary Collection Centres (PCC)
   1. The PCCs work as primary handling centres which use the raw materials to be processed
      further in the CPC.
   2. A PCC serves a number of CCs in the proximity.
   3. they provide primary processing facilities such as weighing, sorting, grading, washing, crating
      and storage of the produce.

                                     Collection Centres (CC)
   1. The CCs work as a point of aggregation of the produce from individual farmers, farmer groups
      and Self Help Groups (SHGs).
   2. They feed the raw materials to PCCs.
   3. They are mostly managed by local entrepreneurs. They serve as farm level aggregation points
      for adjoining areas.
