5Access to higher education
If you want to do a degree but you don’t have the relevant qualifications or
experience an Access to Higher Education Diploma gets you degree-ready
in just one year.
All Access courses have an emphasis on developing key study skills and you will
follow an academic development programme. You will have a personal tutor who
will track your progress and help you develop study strategies. You will also be
supported with your degree application at university or with us.
Why it pays to do an Access to Higher Education Diploma
Funding or Advanced Learner Loan (ALL) available to cover your course fees.
NOTHING to pay upfront with the ALL and NO repayments till you’re earning at
least £25,725 a year.
Progress and then successfully complete a degree and get your Access to
HE fees written off.

We offer adult classes for GCSE English, GCSE Maths
and ESOL at our Chichester and Crawley Colleges.

GCSE Mathematics (Adult)
You will study number skills, algebra,
measures, geometry and handling data.
Sept 1 year Free*
You will attend one 3-hour lesson per week
and will need to complete some self-study
during the week. There is a choice of daytime
and evening classes.
GCSE English (Adult)
You will develop your reading and writing
skills alongside your spoken language skills. Sept 1 year Free*
Daytime or evening classes are available, and
you will be asked to indicate which are most
convenient for you to attend.
ESOL (Adult)
The ESOL course has been designed for adult
(19+) speakers whose home language is not
English, who are living or trying to settle in the
United Kingdom. Sept 1 year Free**
This year (2020-21), we are offering courses
at Beginners, Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3 and
Level 1.
* The course is FREE for most UK residents as long as you do not already have
a grade C or grade 4 in GCSE maths. If you are new to the country, you may need
to pay. Please check with our admissions team.
** This course is free for 19+ who are not studying any other government
funded programme.
7Digital Entitlement
A 2018 report found that:
> 11.3 million people (21%) lack the full basic digital skills
> 4.3 million (8%) have no basic digital skills at all
> 5.4 million working adults (10%) are without basic digital skills
> People with a registered disability are 4 times as likely to be offline
28% of those aged 60+ are offline
In September 2020 we are introducing these
new programmes suitable for anyone over 19 years of age
who lack basic digital skills

Did you miss out on a Grade C/level 4 and above in
Maths and English?
Is it holding you back from getting your perfect job or progressing into
education? If so, we will support you in our Functional Skills programme
to achieve.
Take a step towards your dream career with our taster courses.
Designed to be completed quickly, our Step-Up programme provides
you with a taste of what it would be like to study and work in your chosen field.
These are excellent as another qualification and refresher for your CV and to
up your skills.
Best of all, these courses are available at no cost to you* and provide
full credits towards nationally-recognised job-ready qualifications.
This means you can study and complete a taster course then continue onto
a pathway qualification of your choice or continue onto an Apprenticeship
programme.
These can be undertaken remotely or attend our Personal Development
Module workshops in college. The courses are delivered on a roll on/roll off
basis, so they can be commenced at any time of the year.

12Introductory Programmes
Our Vocationally-Related Qualification (VRQ) courses are delivered on a
roll on / roll off basis, so they can be commenced at any time of the year.
The courses can be completed either online or as a paper-based course and
are fully funded*.
All of the courses are distance learning. We provide the study materials and
you complete the work in your own time. You will work with your assessor to
determine when and how to submit your work.
What are the benefits of a VRQ?
> Upon successful completion you will have achieved a nationally recognised
QCF listed qualification at Level 2.
> VRQs are currently supported by government funding.
> There is no need to formally attend a college - you can learn in your own
time, at a pace that suits you.

If you are unemployed, and aged 19 to 24, and are claiming universal credit
you are able to enrol on most level 1 programmes we offer for free. And
depending on your current qualifications a large number of our level 2
and 3 courses will also be available to you.

If you are unemployed, over 24 and are claiming universal credit you are able
to enrol on most level 1 or 2 programmes we offer for free. This is a great
opportunity to either change career or develop your skills.

Looking to start up your own business?
We have three programmes to support you on your journey.

Discover whether you can turn your idea
into a business. What do you need to know
ADE004 and where can you go for advice? By the Chichester 10 weeks
end of the course you should be able to
decide whether to take your business idea
forward to the next level.

Setup and run your own business
The course facilitator will lead you through
the stages required to set up and run your
own business, including how to write a
BUS757 business plan. You will get the opportunity Chichester 12 weeks
for free use of a start-up hub and access
to business mentors. On completion of the
course you will be awarded an NCFE L2
Certificate in creating a business start-up.
