us on one of our many trips. As well as old favourites we have introduced a number of new and
exciting itineraries this year including a summer visit to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway (page 6)
or the magnificent Chatsworth House (page 24) and Blenheim Palace (Page 31), as well as London
to Salisbury via the Arun Valley (page 21) and after a few years gap we will be visiting the Settle and

Holidays by Steam – Pages 34 to 39 3DINING ON BOARD The menu served from our bespoke Kitchen Car is devised by our Chef Director, who refreshes beloved British dishes with a modern twist, using seasonal ingredients whenever possible. Meals are served at a leisurely pace, allowing for pick up and drop off stations along the way and opportunities to alight the train. We offer a single set menu on all our trips, but if notified in advance, we can cater to a range of dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan and coeliac alternatives. On a typical day trip, you will be welcomed on board with champagne and orange juice, accompanied by morning pastries. This is followed by a delicious Full English breakfast or brunch. On the return journey, you will enjoy a sumptuous four course meal. On some journeys the meals offered vary due to trip length and time.

Steaming west from Paddington our journey takes us through the Thames valley along
‘Brunel’s masterpiece’ before heading to Uffington where we will pass the famous “White
Horses”. Once in Cardiff, there will be plenty of opportunity to enjoy the rich culture and
diverse range of influences. The city centre provides an excellent mix of old and new, with
the imposing Castle, beautiful Llandaff Cathedral and the lovely National History Museum
sitting alongside modern shopping districts, the harbour and the new Millennium Stadium.

For several years the fabulous Arun Valley route has been closed to locomotive hauled
trains. Now once again passengers can enjoy the lovely English scenery through the
North Downs and then, once in Sussex, the stunning Arun Valley route with views of
Amberley Castle and the hilltop Castle and Abbey at Arundel before arriving at our first
Cathedral City, Chichester. There is plenty to do once there including a walk around the
medieval city walls or Georgian shopping streets. For those continuing on to Salisbury the
train will pass through the beautiful Test Valley before arriving at our final destination
where passengers can soak up the wonderful atmosphere of this beautiful Cathedral City.

It’s many years since The Cathedrals Express gave passengers from stations along the
Midland Mainline the opportunity to enjoy steam over the unique world famous Settle
and Carlisle railway. On this occasion we will be steam-hauled in both directions between
Hellifield and Carlisle as our train carves its way through the Cumbrian Mountains and
across the famous Ribblehead Viaduct to the Cathedral City of Carlisle. Once there
passengers can visit the ancient Castle founded in 1092 as well as the beautiful Cathedral
with its famous 14th century stained glass window.

us at Carnforth for the climb over Shap before a short break in Carlisle. On rejoining
we head out to the Cumbrian Coast with nearly 100 miles of stunning views as the
Cumbrian Coast line hugs the narrow strip between The Irish Sea and the Lakeland Fells.
On a clear day you can see distant vistas of the Isle of Man and the Scottish Coast.
