About Department:
With excellent infrastructure, highly qualified and eminent faculty members, we are considered
as one of the best departments amongst the colleges affiliated to MAKAUT. It maintains a cordial
relationship with the industry. In addition to the academic expertise, our faculty members also
contribute their intelligence in the research and development work at par with the industry so
that they are updated in technology and groom their students to the technical excellence.
About College:
Swami Vivekananda Institute of Science and Technology (SVIST), a non-profit-making trust
established in the 2008 with the aim of Swamiji’s vision of spreading education throughout the
society. The clear objective of the institute is to provide high quality technical education to cope
with the recent industry requirements. It provides state-of-the-art infrastructure and required
academic ambience for developing the professional and managerial skills to students along with
the good moral and ethical values which will make them competent engineers in the fastest
growing world.

Our Objectives:
Extensive learning of the basics in addition to intensive focusing on the most trivial
areas of Electronics & Communication Engineering to sharpen in design and
fabrication of electronic systems as per the requirement of industrial world.
Applying the engineering solutions for technical problems and inspiring towards
perceiving post graduate programs and encourage towards R&D of the advanced
areas of Telecommunication Networks and Embedded System, Signal & Image
Processing, VLSI Design etc.
Demonstrating the art of excellence in developing the effective communication
skills in English and evolving the personality of the students suitable to the dynamic
industrial needs.
Adopting the characteristics of technical excellence through the systematically
organized pedagogical practices in equipping the students with knowledge and
practice for competing in the global competitive environment.
Motivating students to develop professional, ethical attitude, team building skills
and multi-disciplinary approach to demonstrate the ideal behavioural qualities
while leading the team for deriving maximum productivity.

Being the Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication
Engineering (ECE), I am delighted to express my thoughts about the
departmental growth. The average passing result is excellent in the
department. Almost 70% students scored above 9 DGPA. The department
of ECE offers premier professional technical training that keeps in pace
with the latest developments in the field of Electronics and
Communication Engineering. The process of learning is extremely important in life. What
you learn, how you learn and where you learn play a crucial role in developing ones’
intellectual capability, besides career. This department aims at providing an excellent
platform for the budding hardware and software engineers. “Every child is a born genius"
We strongly follow the rule “If a child is not learning the way we teach; maybe we should
teach the way he learns”. Keeping these in mind, we have designed our teaching
methodology.We have excellent infrastructure, highly experienced faculties and
professionals associated with research work which collectively ensure dynamic and vibrant
environment in the campus. The department has organized several IEEE Educational
Program to keep in pace with the growing technology. Many of our Ex-students are settled
in abroad and also many students are engaged in Research work in premiere institutions.

Dr. Pradip Kumar Saha obtained M. Tech. (1966) and Ph.D. (1970) degrees, respectively, from
the University of Calcutta and Leeds University, UK. During 1970 he was a P. D. Fellow at
Queen Mary College, University of London. He was with the Institute of Radio physics and
Electronics, University of Calcutta since 1971 and retired as a professor in 2008. He is a Fellow
of IETE (India), Senior Member of IEEE (USA) and Fellow of West Bengal Academy of Science
and Technology. After retirement from regular University service, he served as the first
Director of Centre for TeleInFrastruktur-India (CTIF-India), University of Calcutta, a
collaborative research centre established through MoA signed between University of Calcutta
and Aalborg University, Denmark.
Dr. Chittajit Sarkar, HOD of ECE Department, Associate Professor, is a Ph. D. from Radio
Physics and Electronics, University of Calcutta. He received B.Sc. (physics Hons.) degree from
Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur, University of Calcutta in 1998, B. Tech
and M. Tech degrees in Radio Physics and Electronics, University of Calcutta. He has served
LOOP TELECOM INC. TAIWAN; Prima Telecom, Noida; FIBCOM India Ltd, Gurgaon; Stesalite
limited, Kolkata; Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata in various capacities . He has to his
credit some pioneering contributions in the field of DWDM system, embedded system and
FPGA based system in India as well as in Taiwan.
Mr. Sheershendu Bhattacharya pursuing Ph. D. from Jadavpur University. He obtained
B.Tech.(2002) and M. Tech. (2006) degrees, from Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics,
University of Calcutta. He worked in NLD-ILD department in Reliance Infocomm Ltd. He
worked as asst. professor in ECE dept. of ‘Institute of Technology and Marine Engineering,
West Bengal University of Technology.
Mr. Anindya Ghosh is Pursuing Ph.D from MAKAUT, obtained ME (2000) degree from B. E.
College now IIEST. . He was with the Asansol Engineering college from 2003-2006, CIEM from
2006-2012, RERF from 2012-2013. He is member and life member of at least 11 technical
organisation.
Dr. Anindya Sundar Das has obtained Ph. D. degree from Jadavpur University, B.E degree from
Visveswaraiah Technological University, Karnataka in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
(2004) and M.S in VLSI-CAD with specialization in VLSI, Manipal University, Karnataka (2006).
He has a teaching experience for more than 15 years in some West Bengal University of
Technology affiliated colleges. Mrs. Divya Rao pursuing Ph. D. from IIIT Kalyani, pursued M.E. (EXTC) from Thakur college of
engineering and technology, affiliated to Mumbai university and B.E. (ECE). Prior, Worked with
Reliance communications, in Operation and Maintenance. Published papers related to
Operation and maintenance of SDH equipment’ in Reliance Communications.
Ms. Ipsita Ghosh, M. Tech (Radio physics and Electronics), University of Calcutta, B. Tech and
B. Tech degrees in Radio Physics and Electronics, University of Calcutta. Currently pursuing Ph.
D. from IIIT Kalyani.
Mr. Susobhan Ray obtained M. Tech and B. Tech from University of Burdwan. Currently
Pursuing Ph. D. from IIIT Kalyani. He has teaching experience of 8 years.
Mr. Sayantan Talukdar, for his project Metal detector and counter with mobile calling, won
the district level topper award in South-24 Parganas in the year 2012. Also done almost 50
hands-on projects in fields Robotics including Automatic and semi-automatic devices, visible
light in Communication field, Bidirectional digital counter using microcontroller, RFID based
security systems. His special project is Home security System using GSM. Also, he has helped
several students develop hardware related projects.

Teaching Learning Methodology
Mentoring ProcessOn-Campus trainings:
In addition to the syllabus, a student requires additional training and advisory path for their future
studies and job. Our faculties guide the students to choose the right way of training method and
provide career guidance. Our college ensures high-quality training for placement, which includes
aptitude solving sessions and the grooming part, which has group discussion sessions and mock
interviews. Additionally, GATE classroom training is also provided to students as part of academic
sessions by highly experienced teachers.
Placement Record& Higher Studies:
Ever since the department started, we have got excellent placement records for each batch. The
students are well placed and many of the students are recruited in companies like TCS, HCL,
INFOSYS, RCOM etc. Many of the students have cleared GATE (ON CAMPUS TRAINING) and pursuing
M. Tech programs in IITs, NITs and other premier institutes. Some of our students are studying M.S.
in foreign countries. Our students are also doing research studies funded by the central government.

I had a great journey at SVIST, Batch (2012-2016), Department of Electronics
and Communication Engineering. Today I am working at TATA
CONSULTANCY SERVICES. I would like to thanks Dr. Chittajit Sarkar
(ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR & HOD-ECE, SVIST) who is the backbone of
our department (ETCE)as well as my college. My college SVIST had given me
lots of opportunities from placement preparation, Higher Studies in
GATE/CAT, Soft-skill training, industry readiness skillset-program, to a
Ready corporate environment training which gives me very easier to stable in the corporate
world. The next good thing about my college is that most of my friends get different types of
scholarships, some of them are TFW, Swami Vivekanada scholarships. In my day max of my
friends got this scholarship, besides some of my friends get Full free wavier scheme for their
excellent result. All the faculty members are highly professional, they are very helpful to the
students, they build my base in Engineering study I would like to thank you, every one.

Today , I have become successful for my college Swami Vivekananda Institute
of Science And Technology , Specially the credit goes to my department
Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) , Departmental HOD sir
Dr. Chittajit Sarkar and my mentor Mrs Mousumi Dhara mam , they inspired
me a lot , encouraged me . With their help and cooperation I have started my
own software company Blue Keyboard Software. We create different types of
websites within India and outside our country, And also create Mobile
Applications. We also provide industrial training for college students. All of this became possible
due to the guidance of all the departmental faculties, as they helped me in different industrial and
college projects.

EDUCATIONAL FACETS OF THE COLLEGE
The Coursework and teaching
The coursework was as prescribed by MAKAUT and was mostly very well
taught. It included soft skills like spoken English and management which is
undoubtedly a benefit for further pursuits.
Labs
Labs were well equipped with most instruments allowing for proper
experimentation and analysis of concepts.
THE COLLEGE IN GENERAL
The college is located in a relatively peaceful area and has facilities for parking and sports. The
classes are nice and allow for a proper learning environment. The faculty is helpful and
knowledgeable. There is also a central library which is well stocked. Apart from that a canteen is
also present on campus.
Co-curricular activities
There are plenty of co-curricular opportunities ranging from games and sports to robotics at the
annual tech fest. These events are usually collaborative and enhance team work.
Anurag Kumar( 2016-2020, ECE,SVIST)
Hi, My name is Anurag Kumar. I Completed my Bachelors Of Technology
From Swami Vivekananda Institute of Science and Technology, Kolkata in
Electronics and Communication Department in Year 2020. Being an ECE
Student its not easy to do practical of every analog, digital, vlsi and other
subjects but yes we in SVIST were given the opportunity to perform it in
respective labs. It was easy for us to study about everything in class and do
check that by doing practical in lab. Every teachers of our department are
very knowledgeable and they use to prepare themselves with lesson plans,
assignment and much more stuffs before teaching us. I am feeling proud that I belong to ECE
department. The H. O. D. sir of our department is very supportive. He is good in overall planning.
He even organize seminars and sessions for students to get an idea about recent technology. The
Principal ma'am is very understanding. She was there to support us in every events and programs
that we organized in SVIST starting from teachers day to Annual Cultural Fest. The Whole
SVIST family Including Placement Committee, Finance Department, and all faculty members
and staffs are supportive and supported a lot during entire journey. Thank You Everyone for
making those 4 years of my life beautiful.

Walking down memory lane….
School to college, indeed it’s a huge leap for us students. But what came in as a
savior is our informal relationship with our teachers. They were more like our
friends than teachers, always ready to support us in every way they possibly
could have. I would also like to thank our Principal ma’am who stood beside us
all the time helping us out with everything we needed. We had the opportunity
to be in the hands of truly knowledgeable faculty members. We also had deep
discussions outside the scope of the syllabus, which I believe shaped our personality to a great
extent.

This quote above is a universal truth, irrespective of the disciplines. For Engineering this
“Involvement” is the hands on experience of the devices, in the laboratory. We were fortunate
enough to have highly equipped laboratories, which gave us the opportunity to use very
sophisticated instruments with our own hands. Our college even has huge playing grounds. We
enjoyed playing different games during recess after having the lovely fresh food available in the
cafeteria. On top of everything we were really blessed to have a plush green campus. I loved it
when our college organized an event for planting some trees in the campus. I think besides studies
this institution also instills various values in us. We should plant more trees as part of a social
responsibility, to make this world a better place to live in for the generations to come.
I am humbled and privileged to be a part of this institution. Thank you.

I'm Suchanda Das, graduated in the year 2021(2017-2021) from
Electronics and Communication Engineering department of Swami
Vivekananda Institute of Science and Technology. The 4 years I have spent
there has been a great learning experience that shaped my life.
It's a place where you can find an amalgamation of learning, fun, culture ,lore,
literature and many such life preaching activities. One of the major attraction
of this Institute is its infrastructure. The important thing is all the teachers are
very good and friendly with students and they are very much helpful about the students. Our
library has the largest stock of books and journals. Sports facilities are available like cricket,
football, basketball, volleyball, hockey, carrom and played on the campus. Wi-Fi facilities are also
available there. Our college provides 100% scholarship based on scores.
Placement classes are Top Notch with regular coaching by giving classes separately. The
placement cell is always active and responds to our queries immediately and takes care of us
individually. So I want that other students also take admission in this college and take advantages
of all these opportunities for their better future.

I am Sandeep Mondal, a graduate in Electronics and Communication
Engineering from Swami Vivekananda Institute of Science and Technology.
My pursuing years were (2017- 2021). I am glad to express my gratitude
towards the mentors as well as the faculty members who made the journey
memorable and knowledgeable.
The thing that touches a person’s mind is the friendly behaviour of the
teachers who step forward with responsibility in order to resolve problems of their students. After
leaving school life, I was afraid about the comfort zone but my assumption was wrong, in this
institution the teachers also take part in sports actively with the students. The college never fails
to provide the best guidance to its students, extra classes before the semester exams are conducted
in order to see the students getting more points. Moreover, the college library has a huge collection
on technical books as well as book on reference which supports the students to go deep into the
researches. Swami Vivekananda Institute is connected with good internet facility, a hygienic
cafeteria with aqua guard facility. The college is actually surrounded with greenery which is often
a remarkable view for any visitor. Already started to miss my college days.
In addition, the college supports the students with good placement facility, the activeness of the
placement cell for solving queries regarding the job profiles pay credits to the management ofcollege. I believe students taking admission in this college will receive a homely feeling with good
parents (teachers). The students who are thinking to get admission in this institution must be wise.

I am very grateful to say that i spend my amazing 4 years in college and all
the teachers, staff, lab and our HOD sir are very helpful and very Frank.
One mentor is assigned to every 4 students to guide them and our mentor
is always available anytime and always ready to help us in any kind of
problem.
My dept HOD sir (CJS SIR) and my mentor (RAJU PAUL SIR) are very
helpful.
Also, many companies are come to recruit in college and hope more
companies like MNCs will come in future to recruit.In short, I must say
College is good to take admission and help us to explore more in our future.In coming years, I
think our college will grow more and I want to see more companies will visit to our college for

I am very grateful to say that I spend my amazing journey of 4 years in Swami
Vivekananda Institute of Science & Technology. I was from ECE department. All
the respected teachers, staff and our respected HOD sir are very helpful. They
always guided us in the proper way. My departmental HOD sir Dr Chittajit Sarkar
is really helpful. Our principal mam Dr Sonali Sarkar is very co-operative. All labs
are really nice. Enough types of equipment are there. Library has huge stocks of
books.
Also, many companies come to our college to recruit. College arranged many placement drives during
this pandemic year also. Our placement and TPO department is very hardworking. They always try
their best for their students. This college became our 2nd home. In our campus area, basketball court,
Cricket ground, Tennis court, pool are present. A clean and cheap canteen is there. In short, I must
say SVIST is good to take admission. I think in coming ours our college will grow more.Curriculum beyond Syllabus: We conduct TECHFEST named INNOVENTION which is mainly organised by students. This tech-fest encourages the student involve in organising the fest, display the projects developed by them, show their artistic quality infused with technology such as 1. Technical projects displays 2. Technical Quiz Contest 3. Technical Debate 4. Poster making 5. Short films projection produced by students. 6.
