EASTER PROGRAMME
I am delighted that the EDLC Trust is able to offer the children
and young people of East Dunbartonshire a great range of
leisure activities to enjoy this Easter.
Across our three leisure centres in Bearsden, Bishopbriggs
and Kirkintilloch there are dozens of classes and sessions
to choose from. Our pools are open for swimming and water
sports but also for fun on inflatables or flumes. There’s football,
gymnastics, soft play, badminton and much more.
Check out this brochure and turn this Easter break into a
fun-filled fortnight of activity!!

FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT
Mini Kickers
This programme was developed for children aged 3-4 years, focusing on a range of
activities that are both fun and developmental.
Football Centres
These courses incorporate individual skills development and small sided games.
Soccer Week
Enjoy a great week of football fun all day, every day. These courses include skills
development, fun games, small sided games and lots of fun. Courses open to boys and girls.

5 SPORTS DEVELOPMENT Sports Week – A chance for school age children to come and try some sports provided by the Sports Development team. EDLC TRUST EASTER HOLIDAY ACTIVITY PROGRAMME 2018 6 SWIMMING DEVELOPMENT This year we are pleased to offer ‘crash courses’ from beginners in the teaching pool and advanced classes in the main pool. Over the course of the week children in all classes will be taught swimming skills appropriate to their ability and be introduced to aquatic activities – a fun way to learn to swim. At the end of the week the teacher will advise you if your child has achieved the necessary skills to move up to the next level. Enrolment notes: Children must be five years old to participate in these classes (born before 31/3/13). BEGINNERS: (30 minutes) For children who have both attended lessons and never attended lessons, our classes will introduce water confidence and movement whilst introducing and developing all four strokes. Pupils will also be introduced to MINI POLO! ADVANCED: (45 minutes) For children currently at Level 5 or above or children assessed during ‘beginners’ class. Children will develop stroke technique in the first half of the class and be introduced to other aquatic activities such as polo, synchro, boot camp, diving and lifesaving. No booking for ‘Advanced’ will be accepted for those not currently in our programme. BESPOKE SWIMMING – Open to children and adults Are you looking for a small size swimming class which is highly individualised? You’re in luck! New to our Easter programme we are offering bespoke swimming where each class is tailored to your group’s needs. bespoke swimming takes place in the teaching pool however if required please contact Swimming Development to discuss other options. You decide who attends this class (maximum four children per booking) so gather your friends and book into this unique swimming experience. Booking Notes: Open to both adults and children, no previous experience necessary. Children must be aged 5 by 31st July 2017. Please note EDLC swimming development take no responsibility in finding four members for this class if you wish to book the full £160 must be paid and it is the responsibility of the primary booker to find up to three other swimmers. INTRO TO WATER POLO
This class teaches the fundamentals of the sport in the teaching pool and game practices will be
included. No previous experience of water polo or swimming is necessary.

JUNIOR LIFESAVING Age 8 - 14 years*
This exciting 2 ½ day course will introduce the basics of lifesaving. You will be shown the
dangers of water and how to keep yourself and others safe. You will also learn when and how to
rescue someone who is in difficulty through throwing rescues and towing rescues and what to
do should someone need emergency first aid to keep them alive until help arrives. Basic first aid
will also be taught.
*Please note:
Participants must be able to swim 100 metres confidently without stopping, demonstrating at least two
different strokes. For safety reasons any child that attends Junior Lifesaving who is unable to meet the
swimming requirements stated above will be removed from the class.
