Education Prospectus
Winter 2018/Spring 2019
stwh.co.uk1Welcome
Welcome to the 2018 (and a little of 2019!) prospectus. Our aim is
to ensure that our programmes ultimately benefit patients who are
nearing the end of their lives, and the staff who care for them.
Thanks to Coastal West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group (CWSCCG)
and Health Education England Kent, Surrey and Sussex for helping us
to deliver such a wide and diverse programme. Whilst we have tried
to include everything that we offer, we are always delighted to run
bespoke events to suit your needs.
New in this prospectus you will find ‘frailty’ as a study event funded
by CWSCCG. As people live longer frailty care is becoming fundamental
to the way services are planned and is an area close to my heart. This
study day aims to raise awareness and understanding to help frailty
receive the attention that other long term conditions now have.
Another New for us is the launch of training of the Namaste Care
Programme. This is a structured approach for people living with
advanced dementia, for which there is a distinct lack of interventions,
as others are focused in the early or middle stages of dementia.
We are also looking forward to our exciting New purpose-built hospice
opening in Bosham in early 2019. The opening of our Education Centre
last year was Phase One of our plans and of course we will stay in
Terminus Road, close to the train and bus station in Chichester.
Lastly, we have New staff joining our team. Michelle McGannan brings
a wealth of education experience in palliative and end of life care and
joins us from our team of Bank education lecturers. Sarah Collar also
joins us, bringing an abundance of experience from Day Services
and the Inpatient team at the Hospice.
Welcome to this new prospectus and we look forward to welcoming
you here in the Centre in the near future. Warmest wishes
Helen Evans
Head of Education
Don’t forget we are based at 22 Terminus Road!
