Switchgear

Air Circuit Breakers (ACB)
A device used to provide overcurrent and short
circuit protection for circuits ranging from 800A to
10 000A. Usually used in low voltage applications
below 450 Volts.
Available for circuits ranging from 1250A to 6300A.
Miniature and Moulded Case Circuit Breakers
Miniature Circuit Breakers: A device which protects
an electric circuit from an overcurrent. The
overcurrent may result from short circuit, overload or
faulty design.
Available in the range of 1A to 125A.
Moulded Case Circuit Breakers: A device which
protects an electric circuit from an overcurrent or a
short circuit. Their primary functions are to provide a
means to manually open a circuit and automatically
open a circuit under overload or short circuit
conditions.
Available for circuits ranging from 100A to 1600A.
Time Switches
A time switch (also called a timer switch or a timer) is
a device that operates an electric switch controlled
by a timing mechanism.
Samite and DIN Rail/Mini Rail
A metal rail of a standard type widely used for
mounting circuit breakers and industrial control
equipment inside equipment racks. These products
are typically made from cold rolled carbon steel
sheet.

Switchgear

Busbars
In electric power distribution, a busbar is a copper
strip or bar typically housed inside switchgear, panel
boards and busway enclosures for local high current
power distribution.
Electricity Meters
A device that measures the amount of electric
energy consumed by a residence, a business or an
electrically powered device.
Earth Leakage
A safety device used to prevent shock in electrical
installations with high earth impedance. It detects
small stray voltages and interrupts the circuit if a
dangerous voltage is detected.
Available with overcurrent protection functionality

Miniature and Moulded Case Isolators
Miniature Case Isolators: A manually operated
mechanical switch which separates the circuit from
the power main so that repairs can be done without
danger.
Moulded Case Isolators: Commonly used as either
a feeder breaker or a single circuit breaker where
disconnecting, shortcircuit and thermal protection
functionality is required.

Motor Control
PRODUCT PROFILE
A motor controller is a device or group of devices that manages the performance
of an electric motor.
It might include a manual or automatic means for starting and stopping a motor,
selecting forward or reverse rotation, selecting and regulating speed, regulating
or limiting torque and protecting against overloads and faults.

Contactors
A contactor is an electrically controlled switch used
for continuously establishing and interrupting an
electric power circuit.
Select an application:
AC1 (no constant switching - On/Off)
AC2 (plugging and inching)
AC3 (breaking during normal running)
AC4 (breaking during normal running, plugging
and inching)
Direct Online Starters (DOLs)
The simplest type of motor starter, a Direct Online
Starter (DOL) applies the full line voltage to the motor
terminals.
Smaller sizes are manually operated whereas larger
sizes use an electromechanical contactor (relay) to
switch the motor circuit.
Manual Motor Starters
Manual motor starters are primarily used to manually
switch motors On/Off and to provide fuseless
protection against shortcircuit, overload and phase
failures.

Variable Speed Drives and Soft Starters
Motors often require large amounts of energy when
quickly accelerating to full speed. Soft starters and
variable speed drives can both be used to reduce
inrush currents and limit torque, protecting your
valuable equipment and extending the life of your
motor by reducing motor heating caused by
frequent starts and stops.
Choosing between a soft starter and a variable
speed drive would depend on the application,
system requirements and cost (both for initial startup
and over the lifecycle of the system).
