Anzac Day Poppies stamping
The red poppy flower is a symbol of war remembrance. People in many coun-
tries wear the poppy to remember those who died in war or are serving in the
armed forces.
With Anzac day approaching in only a few days today the ele-
phants explored and made their very own Poppies to remember
the service and sacrifice of our veterans.
Miss Sharnee invited the elephants one by one to the table to explore and investi-
gate, Leah was eager to have her turn hurrying over and taking a seat. Miss
Sharnee provided the children with a green piece of paper each, red and black paint
and a pool noodle. Miss Sharnee demonstrated to the elephants how to dip and
stamp their pool noddle to create their poppies.
Then the elephants were ready to begin. The elephants enjoyed dipping the pool
noddle into the red paint before placing it down in the spot of their choice and using
all their strength to stamp it down on the paper and watch the red paint and
shape transfer to their paper.
What colour are our Poppies Miss Sharnee asked the children “Red Poppies!” replied
Jade. “ Red” said Caleb
Lastly it was time to finish of our poppies with black paint to create the middle,Making Anzac Biscuits
With Anzac Day coming up on Sunday we decided Anzac Biscuits would be a great idea
for our cooking experience this week. Miss Tayla gathered all of the ingredients and
joined the children at the table.
We began by asking Jade to pour in half of the flour followed by Dylan pouring the
other half. Alexis then poured in the rolled oats, shaking the bowl to make sure it all
went in. Next we asked Cienna to pour in the before Chris finished it off by adding in
the caster sugar.
We finished off by passing the bowl around the table, asking the Elephants to give it
a big mix. Meghan and Chris put their heads down at the bowl and smelt the mix-
ture. “What does it smell like?” asked Miss Tayla. “Yummy” said Tobias
Miss Tayla then took the mixture, added the hot butter and rolled them into balls
ready to bake for afternoon Tea.Group Time
After we had finished all our activities and packed our room away Miss Tenneile got all the Ele-
phants to come and sit on the mat to read some stories and do our most loved actions songs.
To start our group time we did our welcome song to the land that we have been practicing, once
we had paid our respects to the owners of the land Miss Tenneile then started to read
“HUGLESS DOUGLAS”. While Miss Tenneile was reading the book it went through how Douglas
the bear just wanted to find someone to give s great big hug to. Once we had finished reading
that book Miss Tenneile started to read the book “LEST WE FORGET” as all week we have been
making a wreath to go out in our front foyer. While Miss Tenneile read the book all the Elephants
displayed great listening skills as we read the book and seen photo’s of the soldiers.
Soon it was time to sing our most favourite actions songs. Up first was “ I KNOW A SONG
THAT GIVES ME POWERS” when Jade, Keith, Caleb and Meghan heard the song they all could
not wait to start doing the action. Miss Tayla then put on “ TABBA NABBA” Harvey, Cienna,
Chris and Ferrah all showed great excitement dancing along to the song and the actions.Staff Name
