Singapore Taxi Market.
In Singapore, there are six taxi companies operating a around 29,000 taxis (Department of
Statistics, Singapore) as of Jan-17.
Taxi Market Share in Singapore:-
a) Comfort DelGro – 16,000 Taxi’s (~55%)
b) Trans Cab – 4600 Taxi’s (~15%)
c) SMRT – 3000 Taxi’s (~10%)
d) Rest - 5400 Taxi’s (~20%)
Uber and Grab Car Taxi’s are driven by individual license holder therefore numbers keep
fluctuating. (in the past three years to an estimated 40,000).
Taxi cabs in Singapore ( Diesel powered) need to pay much higher road tax to deter people
from using diesel powered vehicles.
The above number includes 100 HDT electric taxis (BYD e6).
SEV operating 15 vehicle since Jan-17 as pilot project (BYD e6).
Singapore Govt. has forecasted 2500 EV Taxi by 2020
