EVENTS DECK
HISTORY OF AUSTIN MOTEL The Austin Motel opened its doors in 1938, and its landmark neon sign has been brightening South Congress Avenue ever since. The redesign was inspired by a few decades that stood out as important moments in the motel’s history: the 1930s, when it was built; the 1950s, when it was in its heyday, and the 1980s, when Austin was sort of at the end of its “cosmic cowboy” era, right before the city started changing.
Joann’s Fine Foods is a South Congress neighborhood spot, a new take
on the American diner, and a vacation for locals and tourists alike.
Open early and late at the Austin Motel, Joann’s is a welcome respite
for early birds and night owls, outlaws and in-laws, all ways always.
The menu is a tribute to diner culture
featuring Tex-Mex favorites and California
inspired healthy options. Classic breakfasts,
milkshakes, enchiladas, fish tacos on house-
made tortillas, colorful salads, daily juices,
and an impressive mezcal collection all find a
home here. There’s something for everyone –
when in doubt, just say “meet me at Joann’s.”

The Iconic Austin Motel Pool sits right on South
Congress, at the epicenter of all the comings
and goings. The Austin Motel Pool features a
pool bar operated by Joann’s Fine Foods and is
the perfect spot to celebrate birthdays, product
launches, or corporate appreciation parties.

Pool Buyouts available for up to 120 guests.

motorcourt, the Courtyard Bar is a hidden gem in
the middle of South Congress. Group reservations
