FALL 2020 & SPRING 2021 PROGRAM & TRAINING GUIDE Programs and Events for Girls and Volunteer Trainings
GSK Activities
GSK Program & Training Guide and Online Activities Calendar
This guide is filled with fun and challenging activities designed to help girls earn badges, meet other Girl Scouts, and try new things
while being immersed in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. These activities are offered by our program team, community
partners, area associations, service units, and other troops. Volunteers can gain knowledge at training events planned throughout
the council and online. The Online Activities calendar is your online source for the most up to date information when looking for
trainings or something to do as a troop, with a friend, or as a family. Check it often for updates!
Volunteer Expert Call to Action—We Need You!
Would you consider yourself a subject matter expert on a specific topic? Do you have a talent or hobby you want to share? We
are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to share their knowledge, skills, and experiences at troop meetings, events, and more!
One of the best ways for girls to learn about new ideas is to hear it straight from someone who really knows their stuff. Many
Girl Scout badges, journeys, and patch activities include a “talk to an expert” component, so they can explore their world in a
safe, smart, and reliable way. We love to have you as a partner, working closely with the program team to share your experience.
We also know that troops and service units are doing great things! Are you planning an awesome girl-led event? Do you want
more people to hear about your opportunities? Troop, service unit, and area events aligned with the Girl Scout Leadership
Experience can often be included on the Online Activities Calendar. To share your event, please submit an Activity Submission
Form which can be found on our website in the Resources Tab.
Community Connections
Girl-led means that girls of every age take an active and age-appropriate role in figuring out the what, where, when, why, and
how of what they do. Use the Community Connections list to find partners willing to work with troops to arrange programs and
events around the schedule of the girls. The Community Connections list can be found at gskentuckiana.org/activities.
GSK S’mores List
Looking for S’more fun? The S’mores List is a great place to find more unique opportunities and benefits of Girl Scout
membership. This list includes activities that aren't necessarily part of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, but still offer
lots of fun and discounts for girls and their families. You can also list your own activities here. Check the S’mores List often
for new offerings at gskentuckiana.org/activities.
Family Engagement
Everyone wants the girls in your troop to have fun, be inspired, take risks, and learn about themselves and the world,
including their families. Families can be involved beyond membership in many ways. Look for the green boxes outlining
events open to girls and their families.
Registering for Activities
To ensure your favorite activities will run, register by the listed deadline. Low registration numbers may cause cancellation
and late registrations can no longer be accepted. Log in to MyGS for the most up-to-date information on activities, including
number of openings, and to register. To guarantee your spot, simply complete the registration with a credit card online or
submit payments made by cash, check, or Kentuckiana Credits to your local PLC with a completed Activity Registration Form.
In the event of shop closures, please contact your Troop Support Specialist.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
Activity registrations may be canceled up to seven days from the beginning date of the activity for a full refund. No additional
notification will be given for this date. This applies to council-led activities only.
COVID-19 Statement
The health and safety of our Girl Scout community and beyond is our top priority. All in-person programs and events are
subject to change based on guidance from the CDC, Kentucky Department for Public Health, and the Indiana State Department
of Health. All in-person programs will continue to adhere to guidelines which ensure the safety of our members, families,
community partners, and staff. For GSK’s COVID guidance please visit gskentuckiana.org/covidguidance.
iiLearning by Earning
Through "learning by earning," a Girl Scout discovers the power within to do amazing things for herself and for her
community through the development of these five essential skills: goal setting, decision making, money
management, people skills, and business ethics.
Fall Product Program 2020
(September-November)
Participating in the Fall Product Program is a great way to earn start-up funds for
uniforms and unique, amazing experiences for your troop! The troop profit for
the Fall Product Program has increased to at least 20% of gross sales. Girls also
have the chance to earn awesome individual rewards and learn valuable
entrepreneurial skills. This program is very easy to do online and includes lots of
great interactive features for girls, as well as training for adults!
The pygmy three-toed sloth is an endangered
species that has a lot to teach us about being
brave, unique, and special!
All troops with 100% participation will
be entered to win a sloth painting class
with all necessary materials led by
GSK volunteer and Gold Award Girl
Scout Mary Arnold!
Cookie Program 2021
(Late December-March)
By selling cookies, you are part of the largest girl-led business in the world! The famous
Girl Scout Cookie Program is a tradition that troops, girls, and families can all enjoy. Troops
earn a profit from all sales and girls have an opportunity to set goals and earn awesome
individual and troop rewards! Troops earn money to fund their troop adventures, as well
as many programmatic incentives. The Digital Cookie online cookie program is a special
way for girls to learn online marketing skills and set up their own cookie store front. During
door-to-door and in-person sales, girls improve their interpersonal and communication
skills. Virtual and video training available for adults.

1Girl Scouts aims to inspire girls to raise their voices and be advocates for the issues and ideas
important to them. We encourage each girl to lead positive change through civic action and form
her own ideas, opinions, beliefs, and political ideology. Look for the highlighted purple titles which
indicate programs with civic engagement content.
Patch of the Month
Looking for some additional fun activities for your troop or just to do on your own? Each month girls can
Discover, Connect, and Take Action in a specific subject area. Hands-on activities are available for all Girl Scout
levels and can be done at meetings, as a pre-meeting activity, or as an at-home project.
Patch of the Month programs provide Girl Scouts an opportunity to enjoy a variety of activities while earning a
fun patch. Patch programs are available to Girl Scouts of all grade levels. Completing patch programs can help
complete a Journey and may satisfy requirements for certain badges. It's not necessary to complete the patch
programs in the months specified–they can be completed at any time!

2021 World Thinking Day Award
Girl Scouts celebrate World Thinking Day (February 22) by discovering this year’s theme of Diversity, Equity, and
Inclusion, connecting with the global sisterhood of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, and completing a Take Action
project to make their communities more diverse, equitable, and inclusive.
Festival of the Arts at Home
On November 14, 2020, attend Festival of the Arts like never before! For
over 40 years, this cherished event has offered a fun and engaging way
for Girl Scouts of all levels to explore different genres of art, including
dance, drama, visual arts, and more! This year, enjoy up to three live virtual
arts experiences from home and submit your very own artwork to the
first Mural Arts Project. This permanent art installation will demonstrate
what Girl Scouts can do together, even when they can’t be together.
Receive a Festival of the Arts at Home patch to commemorate this unique
experience.
Where to Start: Visit the Festival of the Arts page on the website at gskentuckiana.org/foa. Read the brochure
thoroughly and learn what is available for your grade level. Decide with your troop (or on your own) what you would
like to attend.

to take something they feel passionate about and use that passion to impact their community in a major way.
Support your girls as they become Bronze Award Girl Scouts by planting a garden at school and inspiring others
to eat healthily, then Silver Award Girl Scouts by advocating for animal rights. Guide your girls as they use the
skills they have learned and practiced throughout their Girl Scout experience to become Gold Award Girl Scouts
by completing individual, sustainable projects with global and national links designed to make the world a better
place. Learn more at gskentuckiana.org/highestawards.
