Dear HALO Supporter, Honorary Co-Chairs Annie & Ryan Anderson and Katrina & John Scott invite you to raise funds for homeless and at-risk children on Friday, Feb. 28, 2020 at The Abbott. This is a benefit to support HALO youth in the greatest need. As featured on The CBS Evening News, the 15th Annual ArtReach Auction features orphan artwork from around the world, artwork from nationally recognized artists, silent and live auction items, dinner, and entertainment. HALO started in 2005 and is headquartered in the Kansas City Livestock Exchange Building. We believe every child should have the support of a family. HALO provides housing, healing and education to at-risk and homeless children. Everyone can think of that one moment in their life that changed everything. It’s the moment that made you who you are today. For more than 1,400 kids around the world, HALO is that moment. At HALO, we give our kids a home in which hope can emerge from hardship. And where drawings about their past unlock dreams about their future. We work wherever kids who have been abused, abandoned, and orphaned, need to feel loved. We work to help one more child spend one less day alone. You can make an impact in the lives of youth that HALO supports. Proceeds from this event benefit not only the 700 Kansas City youth we serve, but also the international programs HALO supports - providing food, water, shelter, clothing, therapeutic art, job training and education to children in the greatest need. be inspired.
Everything is silent.
No lullaby of gunshots at midnight.
No blood on front porch steps.
No chipped painting like chipped tooth.
It’s pure and holy.
A white halo resides over it.
Hands wrapped the exterior.
It’s sheltered.
Nothing catcalling at it.
The windows smile glass stainless and unbreakable.
The door grey like the sky before a much-needed rain.
The foundation unsully, hasn’t become unmoving.
Firm and beautiful.
The grass blooms like love in June.
A family never tainted by the memorial of the world, hasn’t lost anyone close
to them, has food on the table every night plays house inside.
The floors are spotless even though a million men have marched on them.
A neighborhood where your life expectancy doesn’t
depend on the color of your skin.
A neighborhood where you can trust the police.
Not surviving but living.
A house that has laid hands on the sacred ground it stands on.
Everything is silent and warm like dawn.
