The Freedom To Be Vulnerable:
The nature of a child's spirit begs a tender touch. Sometimes it's a spirit lost
in confusion and badgered by fears. Sometimes it's a broken heart that
longs to recover in the deep, or quilted comfort of gentle understand-
ing. Occasionally it's a hope too good to be pursued in vain and too delicate
to be pursued alone. On the front side of every life is a boy or girl in a fragile
state of flux.
As adults, we know that those who follow the well-worn path to the base of
the cross find ample room for heavy hearts and hurts that can't seem to
heal. It's an amazing grace that doesn't trivialize the fickle nature of our per-
sonalities. There's no condescension waiting to counter our tendencies to
become easily embarrassed. There are no lectures longing to straighten
out the folly of our thinking. There's no mocking of our self-conscious
thoughts --- just a generous Savior with a gentle heart who knows how un-
sure we often are about ourselves. God doesn't "card" those who come
searching for His grace. You won't find any age restrictions for those want-
ing to travel down His path. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me,
and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as
these" - Matthew 19:14. But some paths are easier to take when they are
walked hand in hand with someone older and wiser.
- Grace Based Parenting, pg 163

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Health Information:
In keeping with the Black History Month celebration, we will be
focussing on the relationship that marijuana has played in the lives of Black
people and the impact that it has on the culture. Do not be deceived: God
cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to
please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows
to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. (Galatians 6:7-
8 New International Version (NIV))
The US National Library of Medicine study found that while alcoholism was
most prevalent among Whites and Hispanics, marijuana abuse was most
greatly used among African Americans compared to any other race/
ethnicities. The abuse of alcohol and marijuana combined was also most
prevalent amongst African Americans than Whites and Hispanics. Simply
put, the Black community is more susceptible to these destructive sub-
stances which the federal governments in Canada (up until last summer),
the US, and other developed countries deem as addictive and destruc-
tive. Remember, marijuana is a Gateway drug leading to use of “hard”
drugs like cocaine. With results like these, what do you choose to serve:
the flesh or the Spirit?

March 16, 2019 - T-WEST LUNCH DATE:
It's back. You said you were blessed by the fellowship in 2017. So let's do it
again - “Church-wide Sabbath Lunch.” The idea is to have a communal
Sabbath lunch with a T-West group near you. On Sabbath, March 16, no
one should eat alone. We ask that you sign up as a Host or as a Guest. If
you are on the Guest List we will match you with a host. Or you can find
your own match. We need another 10 Host families to join the ones we
have. These families will host a maximum of 40 members for lunch that
Sabbath. Host families can invite their own guests and will also accommo-
date guests from the sign-up list. Let's make this a memorable Sabbath
afternoon together, as we Grow in Jesus and Love like Jesus. Please con-
tact Elder Susan Onyeobia by February 23, 2019. (Please note there is no
organized program at the church that afternoon).
GREAT TEAM, GREAT WELCOME:
Special thanks to all members who did something to make our new pastors
feel welcome last Sabbath: Video by Devan Squires and Andrew McKenzie,

culinary team. Deacon Charles Antoine and crew for the spectacular paint
job. Chanelle Flash, Caroline Ambrose, Dave Harriot, and Dennis Hall for
the "welcome touches" to the office. Karen Smith, Marilyn Ambrose, Dante
Lee, and Keon Marshall for set-up and decorating assistance. Marsha Bir-
kett and Una Robinson for the cake, and scores of others who chipped in
with a kind, cooperative T-West spirit. Blessings to you all!

ers, marketing specialists, money managers, fundraising practitioners, and
people with good money sense and experience in sustaining large fiscal
projects are welcome. See Elder Donovan Bowen for more information.

MEN’S CORNER
Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of
good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the
Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Can you imagine Joshua leading an entire nation into a foreign
country to do battle with his enemies? And to top it off, his
mentor, Moses had died. Now Joshua is on his own. No wonder he felt fear.
But God’s words to Joshua serve as encouragement in times of fear.
God promises to be with us wherever we go, no matter what insur-
mountable odds we may face.
