What’s It All About?
Festivals are full of food, fun, and lots of entertainment. But what’s the
purpose of a festival? The Taste of Hamburg-er Festival is hosted and
organized annually by the Our Town Foundation, Hamburg’s Non-Profit
Community Revitalization Corporation. The festival is run every year as a
way to fulfill their mission “to preserve, promote, and revitalize downtown
historic Hamburg for our families and future generations to enjoy”.
Local residents consider this event to be an annual homecoming, bringing
friends and families together. The festival’s attendees shop in the down-
town independent businesses, helping to keep the mom and pop shops
open and thriving. Numerous local non-profit organizations participate by
providing activities, selling burgers or other foods, or by simply handing out
literature to support their cause.
Our Town Foundation is proud to present this family fun festival that offers
free admission and is affordable for all to attend, but to do this we rely on
sponsorships and donations from businesses and residents. Donations are
absolutely necessary to cover the annual expenses of the festival which
average around $50,000 a year. If you enjoy attending our festival, please
consider placing a few dollars or your loose change into our festival dona-
tion buckets. ALL DONATIONS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED! Donation Bucket locations:
• the Hospitality Tent at 335 State Street
More than anything, we thank you for attending our festival, enjoying the
delicious burgers and food, and patronizing our local businesses. We hope
• the People’s Choice Award Voting Booths located at
the corner of 4th & Pine Streets and 3rd & State Streets
you’ll return year after year to our festival and to our town.

2017 Entertainment Highlights
Jay-T started playing guitar at age 9. Learning basic chords
from his father, he wanted to learn more. was enrolled at The School of
Rock in Easton on a lesson only basis. Picking up quickly he joined their
performance group program where he learned to play with other kids.
As he progressed Jay-T wanted to try his hand at vocals and was afforded
his first opportunity during one of the school’s performance shows
belting out Animal I Have Become by 3 Days Grace in front of a packed
house. From that point on, Jay-T knew he was destined to be on the stage
bringing musical joy to the masses.
At age 11, he started performing songs as a solo cover artist at open mic
nights at Steel Stacks hosted by Billy Bauer.
Jay-T, now age 15, has since been booked regularly throughout the Lehigh
Valley. He has a list of original songs, including‘Absolutely Nothing’which
will be released late August 2018.
Double Crossed , a Berks County based band formed
in 2016, is a new addition to the entertainment line-up. Honored to be part of Some of Jay-T’s influences include; David Bowie, Janis Joplin, Peter
this year’s festival, they will be playing southern and classic rock covers, along with Frampton, B.B. King, Weezer, Bare Naked Ladies, Pearl Jam, 3 Doors Down,
modern and honky-tonk country and blues on the Savory Stage in the Bud & Incubus, C.C.R., Local favorite Billy Bauer, and many more.
Burgers Beer Garden. The band’s members include lead guitarist and founder Darrell
Litzenberger, harmonica player Murray Perlstein, guitarist and vocalist Cody Tyler, Be sure to stop by the Spicy Stage on State Street starting at 11:15
drummer and vocalist Rich Gregg, and bassist and vocalist Kenny“Play”Peffley.
Litzenberger, of Douglassville, PA, has been playing lead guitar in many different to hear Jay-T perform.
bands for years, most notably the acclaimed bar warriors, Stumptown. His attention
to detail on guitar drives the overall hard-hitting feel of Double Crossed.
Murray Perlstein, of Stowe, PA, has been a member of Double Crossed since its
inception, and adds the“icing-on-top”unique harmonica flair to the band’s sound
and cites Blues Travelers as a big influence.
.
Cody Tyler, a local country singer-songwriter from Shillington PA, recently joined the
band in late 2017. He is a former top 150 contestant from Season 14 of NBC’s“The
Voice”. Tyler plays slide guitar on many of their songs, and considers Duane Allman as
one of his biggest influences.
Rich Gregg, from Montgomery County, PA, approaches his drumming vigorously and
with flair. He also sings lead and backing vocals on several songs for Double Crossed,
while keeping perfect time to drive the band forward.
Kenny“Play”Peffley of Sinking Spring PA, was added as the final member, and
completes the band. He has been in many notable groups, both original and cover
bands. He is more than a member of Double Crossed’s rhythm section, playing
five-string bass and vocal harmonies and running lighting and sound, all while
performing. His melodic approach and energy gives Double Crossed its colorful sound.
He’s also been known to migrate through the crowd during songs, including the
audience as part of the show. He’s anything but your average low-key bass guitarist.
The band’s long term goal is writing and recording original songs. Currently, the band
is performing songs from their first release,“Playin’with Firewater”. Written by Tyler
acoustically, with a full band behind him, these songs take on a dramatic new feel
that fans of multiple genres will enjoy.
