Hello May we very much welcome you with your
sunny days and spring blooms. It’s show time this month as we
celebrate our Ladies with a High Tea Garden Lunch for Mother’s
Day. Duo Del Mar is performing while we spoil guests with
delectable goodies. This event has limited seats and you must
RSVP with the recreation department. Get back to Country as

importance of resident safety. Many of our resident’s here are
living with memory loss and that puts them at risk of potentially
wandering and/or seeking to exit our building. Wait Gate has
been put into action at the front door entrance. We request that
everyone waits for the gate to close behind them when entering
and leaving at Fleetwood Place. Anytime you are unsure of a
resident, ask for assistance from a staff person. Thank you to our

A Mother says “I love you”
           In so many ways
       With crisp clean sheets
And warm mittens on winter mornings
    With decorated birthday cakes
        And Christmas cookies
And eggs cooked just the way you like
A Mother says “I love you”
When she leaves on the porchlight
      And picks up your clothes
    When she keeps your secrets
Feeds your pets and puts homemade
 Valentines on the refrigerator door,
           but most of all,
A Mother says “I love you”
           By filling a home
             With warmth
             Tenderness
               And love

We get back to Country this month as the Cloverdale
Rodeo Returns for it’s 73rd year this May long weekend.
The 4 day Rodeo and Country Fair is one of Western
Canada’s most popular family events. The fair was first held
in September 1888 in the Surrey Municipal Hall and
grounds. In 1938, the fair was moved to its current location.
In 1962, the fair was taken over by the Fraser Valley
Exhibition Society, and in 1994, the fair and rodeo were
renamed the Cloverdale Rodeo & Exhibition Association.
There are cooking, baking and canning competitions, arts
and crafts displays and horticulture and livestock exhibits.
Since 1977, on the Thursday before the Fair, there has been
a bed race in downtown Cloverdale, and a parade is held on
the Saturday of the Fair, with a midway full of games, rides
and concession stands to enjoy. Yee Haw!!

Visitor’s With Pets
We very much welcome your visits. Please be mindful of the
following when you are here. Pets must
be on a leash at all times, please keep
the leash short as longer leashes can
cause someone to trip. Our place is
home to many residents who may or
may not like animals. Please ensure
your pet is not in the dining room
during meal times. Bring your own dishes for water or food and if
needed to clean up after your pet. Thank you.

It’s Patio Season: Time to get outdoors for some sunshine
and fresh air. The garden will be soon planted that we can enjoy.
Please be mindful when visiting that there is no outside
housekeeper and to put cups & wrappers in the garbage can. Our
indoor furniture table and chairs do not belong outside. We have
some umbrellas for shade that may be used but please close after
your usage, it can be windy and rainy. Thank You So Much.

Dear Family & Visitors,
We have many residents that have vulnerabilities compromising
their daily activities. Please assist us keeping residents safe in their
home during your visits to Fleetwood Place.
 Do not give food or drinks to residents; please enjoy your treats with
your loved one but do not offer to others, residents may have allergies or swallowing
issues that need to be monitored by staff, it can be unsafe for a resident to manage a
hot beverage causing injury to themselves or others. Always ask for staff assistance.
 Front Entrance; Always Wait For Gate or Front Door To Close
The gate or front door must be securely closed before you proceed in or out of the
building. We have resident’s with cognitive decline, memory loss and/or may be
seeking to exit outside that could lead to potential harm. We must keep all our loved
ones safe in their home. Please be aware of residents on the elevator and securely
close stairwell doors behind you. Always ask staff for assistance if you are unsure.
 Pet Visitors; we are very happy to have you visit with your pets though we ask
that you be mindful of the following:
 Not all residents like pets and may become nervous or agitated
 Pets must be on a shorter 6 foot leash, flexi-leashes are unsafe in this setting as
longer leashes can cause a resident, staff or another visitor to fall.
 Pets are not permitted in the dining rooms during meal times.
 Pets are not permitted on top of the tables at all times and do not use facility
dishes for your pets per infection control.
 Always clean up after your pets inside and outside
