A letter from
                                                       TICK AND KATE
Our world turned upside down on January 3, 2018.
At the beginning of 2018, we were devastated by the untimely loss of our 14 year old, Dolly.
Dolly was the victim of relentless bullying. No parent should have to feel the pain and the loss
of their child in this way.

To us, our “Doll” was perfect. Funny, caring, cheeky, energetic and loving. She was a pocket
rocket with a sunbeam of a smile and the gentlest of souls. She always looked for the good in
people and situations.

We were unprepared for the overwhelming support shown by the Australian community
following Dolly’s death and are eternally grateful for the way we have been cared for by our
“tribe” - old and new. It is this tribe that gives us the strength and encouragement to take the
next step with Dolly’s Dream and start to actively work to change systems, procedures and
conversations around bullying.

                                                                                                                                                  1

   you were always destined
      for great things. With
your death it falls on us to
 ensure your story becomes a

Your legacy will be one of caring

Who we are
                                   & OUR MISSION
Established in Dolly’s memory by her parents, Kate and Tick
Everett and her sister Meg, Dolly’s Dream will act as a voice
for those who cannot speak for themselves and work to
create change. Our work has already begun with:
· the introduction of Dolly’s Law into NSW - imposing tough
  penalties for cyber bullies

· co-funding the NT and QLD Governments’ introduction of eSmart
  schools to reduce bullying

· helping by telling our story to prevent lives being lost to bullying

· contributing to the QLD Government’s Anti-Cyberbullying
  Taskforce

· providing expert advice to schools and parents on bullying

· presenting the first Dolly’s Dream cyber safety workshop in
  Katherine.

What is
DO IT FOR DOLLY DAY?
Do It For Dolly Day is an initiative which aims to extend the Dolly’s Dream
message in the community and build on the support available for those impacted
by bullying.

We want to continue raising awareness regarding the issue of teenage bullying as
well as provide support and deliver educational resources for parents whose kids
may be engaging in or subject to bullying.

This Do It For Dolly Day on Friday 10 May 2019 join us to commemorate and
celebrate Amy ‘Dolly’ Everett in the following ways:

   • express your ‘True Blue’ spirit by wearing or decorating in Blue
   • participate in a fundraising activity (We have heaps of ideas on page 6)
   • show kindness at school, in your neighbourhood, or at work.
     Here are some ideas:

At school:

   • invite someone playing alone to join in your game
   • thank your teacher with a picture you have drawn
   • make friends with someone new at your school
   • make a kindness note or letter for a friend.

At home:

   • tell your family how much you love them
   • clean your room without being asked
   • tell a joke
   • watch someone else’s favourite TV show with them.

There are so many ways to be kind to others, you are only limited to your
imagination. For more inspiration, go to www.pinterest.com.au

                                                             TIPS & TRICKS
LET PEOPLE KNOW! Send a link and a blurb to your family and friends
about why you are fundraising and encourage them to donate to your
                      campaign.

Show them you are serious by MAKING A DONATION yourself, and then
encourage your friends, family and colleagues to do the same. All
DONATIONS OVER $2 are tax deductible.

Make sure your fundraising is well planned and give yourself plenty of time
to PROMOTE YOUR ACTIVITY through the channels that your network and
supporters use the most (e.g. school newsletter, intranet, email, social media,
local paper, local radio station or text).

Never underestimate the power of a ‘THANK YOU’! It’s so important to show
how grateful you are to your supporters for their donations, big or small.
When you thank them on your social media, it will encourage others to
                      donate also.

Social media, emails and media are great ways to SHARE YOUR STORY and
remind people why you are fundraising for Dolly’s Dream. Remember to
include the link to your fundraising page whenever you are sharing your
                      story!

Reduce costs for your activity. Consider approaching businesses for goods,
services or vouchers that you can use to raise funds as prizes or as raffle
items. Dolly’s Dream can provide a letter of authority to fundraise for this
                      activity.
