Summary of CV
This section describes briefly a summary of your career in science, academic and research; the main
scientific and technological achievements and goals in your line of research in the medium -and long-
term. It also includes other important aspects or peculiarities.
I received a degree in Chemical Engineering in January 2001 from University of Santiago de
Compostela (USC), and started my Master studies in the Environmental Engineering and Bioprocesses
Group (BioGroup) at USC (2001-2002). In 2002 I got the FPI fellowship from the Spanish Government
to perform my doctoral thesis, which was defended in March 2007. In September 2007 I got a
Postdoctoral grant from the Spanish Government to perform a two-year research stay in the
BioEngineering Research Group (BERG), in the Institute for Biotechnology and Bioengineering, Lisbon.
Afterwards, I returned to the BioGroup with a three-year Postdoctoral grant from Xunta de Galicia,
which allowed me to combine research activities with university teaching. In December 2013 I was
granted with another Postdoctoral fellowship from Xunta de Galicia to continue my research at the
Dep. of Chemical Engineering from USC. In 2015 I was awarded as principal investigator of a project in
the “Proyectos I+D+i jóvenes investigadores” program (Mineco) and I am also principal investigator of
an ERA-IB2 project, involving 4 different institutions in the European Union.
The main results of my research activities can be summarized as:
    i. The supervision of three PhD thesis (2013, 2015 and one still on-going) ii. The
supervision of two MSc theses (2011 and 2017)
iii. Principal investigator of two projects: program “Proyectos I+D+i jóvenes investigadores”, Mineco
(October 2015-September 2018) and the European program ERA-IB2 (November
    2015- October 2018)
iii. The participation in 14 research projects funded by Xunta de Galicia, 7 from R+D Spanish
Government and 2 from the Portuguese Government.
    iv. Publication of 47 peer-reviewed articles (33 Q1 (12 in first decile), 7 Q2, 6 Q3 and 1 Q1), 31 of
them as first or second author, 5 as last author
vi. Publication of 4 chapters of international books (Springer and Wiley; 2 as second author, and one
as last author), one technical report (Springer Protocols) and one chapter of an Encyclopedia (Springer)
vii. Five granted patents of invention. wiii. H index: 15 (Scopus) with 784 citations
ix. 43 participations in international congresses, plus 17 oral communications in national
    congresses
    x. Reviewer for more than 30 international scientific journals (23 Q1)
Furthermore, I have carried out several international research stays: Academy of Sciences of Czech
Republic, Prague (Czech Republic) (2 months, 2003); Queen’s University, Kingston (Canada) (4 months,
2004); Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon (24 months, 2007).
Concerning teaching activities, I have taught different subjects in Chemical Engineering Degree (USC)
for a total of 454 h: Lab. Environmental Engineering, Heat Transfer, Lab. Fluid Transport and Heat
Transfer, Biochemical Engineering, Processes of Industrial Chemistry, Processing equipment & plant
design, Lab. Chemical Reaction Engineering, etc. Furthermore I have participated as teacher in the
“Campus Científico de Verano: Treatment systems for decontamination of wastewaters” (July 2010,
July 2011) aimed for high school students and organized by FECYT.
Regarding management activities, I have been Coordinator of Teachers in 3rd year of Chemical
    Engineering Degree (2010-2012).
