              Get Connected
Introduction by Vicar Adam Denley
Dear Church Family,

‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the LORD!’

What a week it is that we are entering into in the church calendar - Holy Week.
I love the image of the disciples and the crowds raising their hands in praise and
waving their palm branches that very first Palm Sunday, as the donkey trots on
down the Mount of Olives carrying the King into the city. The crowds are
expectant wondering what kind of King is this, and that is a wonderful thought for
each of us to consider again this Easter. What kind of King is this? On Sunday he
has the crowds cheering ‘Hosanna!’ and by Friday their shouts become ‘Crucify
Him!’ - Please join us this week as we think through the most incredible week ever
to occur in human history.

Maundy Thursday - a reflective Holy Communion service in the Church building at
7:00pm.
Good Friday - a mediation service that you are welcome to drop in on the hour or
half hour from 10:30am-12noon.
Saturday - a Praise Party for children and families from 3:00pm in the church hall.
Easter Sunday – 6:00am sunrise communion service in the church garden and
10:00am Family Service in the church building (Live Streamed)

We have also just launched our new website feel free to have a look around online.
We hoping to have the church calendar linked to the ‘What’s On’ page to keep you
all informed and so that you can find Zoom codes for services and meetings at the

construction and we are working to get all our talks available on the website ASAP
– watch this space.

Join us in our journey,

Adam

hope we have in our Saviour!

Wooden Cross Outside St John’s Church
We are positioning a wooden cross outside the church on Good

please could you bring some flowers to put through the

Electoral Roll List Update
Every year, prior to the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM), St John’s Church
carry out a revision of our Electoral Roll (ER). The ER in the Anglican Church for
simplicity is the membership list. It is meant to represent all those who are
actively involved in the life of the church or who continue to receive Holy
Communion at home if housebound. If you are on the ER, it allows you to vote at
the APCM to elect Wardens and Church Council members. It also forms the basis of
our Church Directory.

Every six years, the Church of England requires St. John’s Church to prepare a
completely new ER. We do not need to do this for 2021, just an update.
Covid, has of course presented us with many problems, least of which no paper
copies of ER forms will be allowed in church.

The ER form will only be available by email on request from
Chrissy.forrest@hotmail.co.uk for completion by new members wishing to be
included in this year’s ER. The revision will take place this year between 21st
March and 4th April. Any forms received after this time, will not be added to the
ER List until after the APCM. The revised ER list will be on display at the back of
the church from the 4th April for two weeks. This will be sellotaped to a table and
not be removable. Please check your entry and let Chrissy Forrest know if you
have any alterations.

Please only complete a form if you wish to alter your current entry in the ER List.
If you are not sure of your entry, please do not hesitate to contact me on 07917
694812 (by text or email me) : Chrissy.forrest@hotmail.co.uk.
We hope that as many of you as possible will wish to remain on the ER and
participate in the APCM.
Annual Parochial Church Meeting / Vacancies
This year’s APCM will be held on the 25th April at 11:30am, in the church following
the 10:00am morning service.
There are currently three vacancies for the Church Council and one vacancy for
deanery synod rep. If you would like to stand for either of these vacancies, please
let me know and speak to either of the wardens or the vicar. Nomination forms
will then be sent by email. These forms must be returned to me before the APCM
commences.
Many thanks.
Chrissy Forrest
