All items are listed in the order they will be up for bid.
Please bring this book with you the night of the auction. A minimum number of extra
books will be available at the door. Any items received after the printing of this catalog
will be listed on an addendum page which will be available at the auction.The auction committee sincerely thanks the individuals and businesses
who donated items or services to the auction. You can show your
continued thanks by supporting them with your business throughout the
year, and thanking them for their support of GCCS. Remember that even
if you got a “good value” on your purchase, that does not reduce the
value of the donation. Genuine thanks for their support is appropriate.

diligently and willingly “hit the streets” gathering items and services from local

feel so blessed for the support and generosity of the Grandville Calvin Christian

The 2020 Auction Committee

1Dinner and Dessert – served 5:30-6:30
The dinner buffet will be catered by On the Border. Cost is
$5.00 for students 5th grade and under, and $10.00 for anyone
6th grade and up. Dinner may be charged to your paddle
number. Pop, water, coffee and assorted homemade desserts
are all included with your meal. GCS 1st graders who are
singing eat free.
Childcare
Childcare will be offered for children through 5th grade in the Learning
Commons; children must be potty trained. Reservations are required. Donations
for the cost of childcare may be made in cash at the LC, or put on your paddle by
signing the sheet by the door. All donations will go toward Fund the Need (p. 6).
Sponsor BINGO - win an ipad Air
At the second break in the live auction (approx. 8:15), we will be highlighting our
sponsors in a fun game of BINGO! Bingo cards may be purchased at the
Buy-A-Line table for $20 until the game starts. The first player to have five
sponsors in a row - horizontal, vertical, or diagonal - and declare “BINGO!” will
receive a 64GB ipad Air. Only 50 BINGO cards will be available.
“Kids’ Corner” Pick-a-Prize
A table will be set up with a number of wrapped prizes on it, each worth at least
$5. You may purchase as many gifts as you wish for $5 each. Purchases are
recorded on your paddle number. Pick-a-prize items are suitable for children
through early teens.
2Silent Auction – Begins at 5:30pm
● Items will be posted on tables & walls. All items up for bid are listed in the Silent
Auction section of this catalog. Please read posted items for specific details.
● Bids for the silent auction are placed by signing your paddle number on the bid
sheet corresponding to the item. Each new bid is placed by signing your paddle
number and bid amount on the next available blank line on the bid sheet.
Please write your paddle number clearly so the auction volunteers can easily
identify the winner.
● Each item has a minimum bid amount.
● All bids must be in whole dollar increments (no cents).
● Each item has a Guaranteed Bid price at the bottom of the bid sheet. If you
are willing to pay the guaranteed bid price for that item, write your paddle
number next to the Guaranteed Bid amount, and the item is yours.
o If bidding on the item exceeds the guaranteed bid price before anyone
places a guaranteed bid, auction volunteers will declare the guaranteed
bid amount invalid for that item by crossing it out.
o Please leave the item on the table until your guaranteed bid is verified by
an auction volunteer.
● Each item without a guaranteed bid purchase will go to the bidder with the
highest bid recorded on the bid sheet at the time the wall closes (see
below). All items will be left on the Silent Auction walls/tables with the
winning paddle number on them.
o The Riverbend Automotive Group wall (green, page 17) will close at 7:15
o The Squires wall (yellow, page 20) will close at 8:15
Please note:
- There will be an announcement when each wall closes; if you are at the
wall/table at that time you should put down your pen and step back
from the wall to allow the volunteers to close the wall quickly.
- It takes approximately 30 minutes to enter winning bids into the
database after each wall closes; you will not be able to check out
immediately.

3Gift Certificates:
In an effort to reduce the number of items on the silent walls this year, gift
certificates and admission passes valued at $100 or less will be available to
purchase at face value on a first come, first served basis beginning at 5:30. You
will record your paddle number next to the certificate you want and take it
immediately. Donations higher than the face value are also accepted! Available
gift certificates are listed on page 12.
Centerpiece Flowers:
30 flower centerpieces are available for purchase at $20 each. Each contains a
gift certificate for $10 to a local business. One contains a $50 gift certificate.
Plants may be purchased at the Buy-A-Line table. The purchase will be recorded
on your paddle number. Buy a plant stake and write your number on its card; put
the stake in a plant that has not already been claimed. When all plants have
been sold, an announcement will be made and purchasers can check what gift
certificate they have received. donated by Masterpiece Floral
Live Auction – Begins at 6:30pm
● Items are listed in the Live Auction section of the catalog (page 24) in the
order in which they will be up for bid. Please read posted items for specific
details.
● The auction will continue until all items are sold.
● To enter a bid, bidders must raise their bid paddle to signal the auctioneer.
● The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be the winner.
Please keep your paddle raised until your paddle number is recorded and
your prize has been delivered to you.
● There will be a break at 7:15:

o The GCS First Grade Class will sing
● There will be a break at 8:15:

4End of Evening Prize:
There will be TWO $500 GCCS tuition vouchers offered as the end of evening
prize. Each person who registers for an auction paddle will receive one entry
ticket. In addition, raffle tickets for the end of evening prize will be available for
$10 each at the Gift Certificate Board throughout the evening.
The End of Evening Prize will be drawn at the conclusion of the
LIVE auction. You MUST be present to win.
Check Out:
When you are finished for the evening, present your bidder number to the staff at
the checkout table. They will review your purchases for accuracy and give you a
total for payment. We encourage you to ROUND UP to support the Fund the Need
projects.
Payment must be made the night of the auction. We accept check, cash, Visa,
MasterCard & Discover. We pay a service fee on all credit/debit transactions,
therefore cash and checks are appreciated to make your donation go further.
IRS Requirements
● The IRS requires that all charities provide a receipt for any purchase over
$75 if the buyer/donor receives something in return for their contribution.
● You may claim as a tax deduction ONLY the portion of the purchase price
that exceeds the fair market value of the item, all of which will be printed
on your receipt upon checkout.
● Raffle tickets are not tax-deductible
Terms of Sale:
All terms and services are subject to the terms and conditions specified by the donors.
All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds. Grandville Calvin
Christian Schools does not make any expressed or implied warranties or
guarantees on auction items regarding quality or value of items or services. GCCS
has attempted to describe and catalog all items correctly. All items are offered
and sold as is.
5Fund the Need
MS/HS - STORAGE UNIT
We are bursting at the seams for storage needs at CCMS/CCHS, especially for
large items used by the MS and HS Theatre departments and the HS Woods
classes. We want to purchase a 40 foot storage container to be housed behind
the high school, to provide the necessary storage space for wood, large set pieces
and more. This will cost $5,000.

IMPORTANT ITEMS?
The total cost is $13,000; the Grandville Calvin Christian Foundation has
graciously started the bidding with $5,000.
6Fund the Need
GCS - RETRACTING BASKETBALL HOOPS
The elementary school is in great need of new, working retractable basketball
hoops. We want to purchase 6 hoops, two main fixed wall or ceiling hoops at 10
feet, plus four adjustable hoops which can lower and raise from 7 to 10 feet.
Total cost for six hoops is $8,000.
Round-Up: When it is time to check out and pay, you will be asked if you wish to
“Round Up” for the same cause. For example, if you purchased items at the auction
that total $132, you could round-up to $135, $150, or as much as you wish. This is
simply a cash donation toward the Fund the Need items, and is 100% tax-deductible.
7Buy-A-Line Items
Six buy-a-line items, each with twenty bid lines, are available. Each item has a
different line cost, ranging from $15 to $60.
Write your paddle number next to one or more of the numbers on the bid sheet.
You are obligated to pay the dollar value for each line on which you sign; you may
purchase as many lines as you wish. Once the bid sheets for these items are
filled, no more bids will be taken. During the LIVE auction the winning line
number for each item will be randomly drawn. The paddle number on the line
next to the number drawn wins the item. (Note: If fewer than 15 lines on any
item are sold, the item will “go live” instead. In this case, those who signed on
lines for this item are no longer obligated to pay for the lines.)
**You are encouraged to come early to the auction if you are
interested in these items, as lines often fill up fast!**

Teacher Boxes: $5 per ticket – sales ending at 7:30

● Tickets are purchased using paddle number; the student’s name will be
entered on each ticket before dropping it into a teacher box.
● Tickets can be purchased for a student’s current classroom; GCS students may
also purchase tickets for teacher/staff boxes that are not class specific.
● A drawing will be held after 7:30; the winners will be posted at the sales table
and on the GCS bulletin board.
● You do NOT need to be present to win.
● Teacher Box tickets can also be purchased the week of the auction in the GCS
office until 3:30pm on Friday, February 7th.

marketable, vehicles are cleaned and placed on the lot. Once sold, a donor receipt
will be issued for the net value minus any repair cost. Vehicles that are not
marketable are recycled for scrap, with the net proceeds credited as a donation.
