Monday 7/5- Intro to Dairy
❖ 9-10 am- Welcome
     ➢ Safety & Rules Review
     ➢ Breed ID and Dairy terms
❖ 10am-12pm- Cow Time (Actually Heifer Time)
     ➢ Safety
     ➢ Animal Behavior
     ➢ Proper Handling
     ➢ Halter Breaking Techniques
     ➢ How to Lead
❖ 12pm-1pm- Lunch (Bring Your Own Lunch)
❖ 1pm-2pm- External Anatomy- Terminology
❖ 2pm-3pm- Livestock Evaluation What we look for in a quality dairy animal
❖ 3pm-4pm- End of Day- Heifer Check
     ➢ Kahoot (so you can tell your parents what you learned today)
     ➢ ICE CREAM! (I mean, this is Howling Cow Camp!)
     ➢ See you Tomorrow!

Tuesday 7/6- Showmanship & Nutrition (Cow Chow Nutrition)
❖ 9am-12pm- Heifer Check
     ➢ Feeding and Cleaning
     ➢ Review Day 1
     ➢ Haltering & Leading your animals
     ➢ Showmanship- How you properly show a dairy animal & what a judge is looking for.
❖ Noon- Lunch BYOL
❖ 1pm-3pm Nutrition- What cows eat.
     ➢ NC State Feed Mill tour
❖ 3pm-4pm- End of Day Heifer Check
     ➢ Kahoot
     ➢ Ice Cream (Will you ever get sick of ice cream?)
     ➢ See you in the morning!

Wednesday 7/7- Intermediate Showmanship & Guest Speaker
❖ 9am-12pm- Heifer Check
    ➢ Feeding and Cleaning
    ➢ Review day 1&2
    ➢ Intermediate Showmanship skills with your animals (Practice, Practice, Practice.)
❖ 12pm- Lunch BYOL
    ➢ 1pm-2pm Ration Activity
❖ 2pm-3pm- Guest Speaker- Showmanship Judging and Dairy Cattle Judging
❖ 3pm-4pm- End of Day Heifer Check
    ➢ Kahoot
    ➢ Ice Cream- Unless you don’t want it, then you can have water...

Thursday- 7/8 **Changing things up** Howling Cow Processing Plant and Campus tours
❖ 9am-11:30am- We will meet at the Creamery (on the farm) and not visit the cow like other days
     ➢ We have to be clean when we visit the processing plant. We will visit and work with our
          animals this afternoon.
❖ 11:30-12:30- Lunch at NCSU Dining Hall (We will cover the cost of lunch)
     ➢ You will get to see where our students eat and try our soft serve ice cream
❖ 12:30-1:30pm- Campus Tour- Brickyard, Tally Student Union, etc.
❖ 2pm-3:30 pm- Travel back to farm and work with our calves.
❖ 3:30-4pm- End of day

Friday- 7/9 Visit to Simply Natural Creamery, Ayden, NC (Long Field Trip Day) Lunch Provided
❖ 9am-10am Heifer Check
      ➢ Feeding and Cleaning
❖ 10am- Leave for Simply Natural Creamery (Bring a snack for the road)
❖ 11:30am- Arrive at Simply Natural
      ➢ Begin tour
      ➢ Have lunch from Skylight Inn BBQ brought to Simply Natural
❖ 1:30pm- Return to farm
❖ 3pm-4pm- Heifer Check
      ➢ End of day-End of 1st week, see you Monday!

Monday- 7/12 Clipping, Fitting, & Bath Day (All day at the dairy)
❖ 9am-12pm- Each group will work with Camp Counselors on, washing and leading heifers in the
    morning (Devan will do the main instruction on clipping)
❖ 12pm-1pm- Lunch
❖ 1pm-3pm- Clipping demo (Devan)
❖ 3pm-4pm- End of day

Tuesday 7/13 Clipping, Fitting, & Bath Day (All day at the dairy)
❖ 9am-12pm- Each group will work with Camp Counselors on clipping, fitting, washing heifers
❖ 12pm-1pm- Lunch
❖ 1pm-3pm- Continue practicing leading and prepping heifers for showing
     ➢ Prep all equipment for show days. Pack equipment and feed for heifers.
❖ 3pm-4pm- End of day

Wednesday 7/14 Clipping, Fitting & Bath Day=More Practice
❖ 9am-12pm- Each group will work with Camp Counselors on clipping, fitting, washing heifers
❖ 12pm-1pm- Lunch
❖ 1pm-3pm- Continue practicing leading and prepping heifers for showing
     ➢ Prep all equipment for show days. Pack equipment and feed for heifers.
❖ 3pm-4pm- End of day

Thursday 7/15 Greensboro District Junior Dairy Show
❖ 9am-10am- Load heifers for travel to show (We will try to leave as early as we can)
     ➢ Leave for Greensboro
❖ Lunch will be provided
❖ 1pm-3pm Wash and lead heifers in the show ring
❖ 3pm-4pm- Travel back to NC State
     Note- We will do our best to get back on time

Friday 7/16 Show Day!
❖ 7:30am Arrive at the farm (Same schedule as Thursday)
❖ 9am- Arrive at Greensboro show
❖ 10:30am- First Showmanship classes begin
❖ 3pm- Return to NC State

Thursday 7/15 Show Day!
❖ 7:30am Arrive at the farm (We need to leave early today!)
❖ 9am- Arrive at Greensboro show
      ➢ Campers showing today will have to get their heifers washed and prepped for show
❖ 10:30am- First Showmanship classes begin
❖ 3pm- Return to NC State
     Note- We will do our best to get back on time

❖ 9am-10am- Load heifers for travel to show (We will try to leave as early as we can)
    ➢ Leave for Greensboro
❖ 11:30- Arrived in Greensboro
