COVER: Put on a summery dress, get out your bicycle
and join the Frocks on Bikes ride in February.
This issue of Hobbies Interests and Passions (HIP) is cause for
celebration since it marks the 21st edition of the booklet.
First mooted in November 2009, the Rotorua Lakes Council initiative
launched in March 2010 as a 24-page booklet. Demand for inclusion by
clubs, organisations and event organisers saw the publication grow to
28 pages by its 5th edition, jump to 32 pages by issue No.7 and attain
its current 36-page format five years ago.
It’s been a pleasure to feature locals aged 50+ on the cover of every
issue bar one. Not only are these residents HIP’s target audience,
but their obvious enjoyment, absorption or participation helps inspire
others in this age range to take a more active part in Rotorua’s
happening, learning and caring community.
A big thank you to the growing number of readers and submitters
whose support has enabled the booklet to reach this milestone.
Happy reading, and may you find motivation or inspiration among the
more than 220 options on offer.
