HOTEL NEWS IN
SYDNEY AND NSW
Sydney is already home to some of Australia’s best hotels and,
with demand from increasing visitor numbers set to continue, a
hotel boom is underway with 7,100 new rooms under construction
or approved for development and open for business by 20221.

New and refurbished hotels by the harbour, luxury makeovers
and quality boutique offerings are giving visitors to Sydney and
Regional NSW just what they want – accommodation in desirable
locations, with a choice of styles and price points, and the latest
and best hi-tech gadgets.

CENTRE OF THE ACTION
In the city centre, the stunning $12 million redesign of Radisson
Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney on Pitt Street is now complete. As well
as new events and meeting spaces, the heritage hotel’s dazzling
facelift included its 364 boutique-style rooms, restaurants, bars
and business lounge. In The Rocks, the Four Seasons Hotel
Sydney is taking advantage of its location by opening Lounge
32, private residential-style haven of luxury, reserved for guests
booking a Club room or Club suite on the top floors of the hotel.
Meanwhile, the Tank Stream Hotel, Sydney, is attracting guests
with its ‘all inclusive’ rate concept and central CBD location on the
corner of Pitt and Hunter streets.

On Macquarie Street, plans for a $200 million-plus upgrade
of the InterContinental Sydney will see the hotel’s 509 guest
rooms, public areas, restaurants and function rooms completely
refreshed. As part of the proposal, a grand new ballroom on level
10 will extend out from the hotel tower, allowing for fabulous
views of the harbour and beyond.

When Skye Hotel Suites opens on Clarence Street in 2018, it will
boast the most spectacular rooftop horizon lounge in Sydney,
the Ice Cave Pool. Style, elegance and luxury will ooze from its
over-sized guest rooms which include studios, suites and an
amazing penthouse. At Circular Quay, a new 179-room hotel and
residential two-tower complex worth about $1 billion is set for
completion in 2019. The Wanda Vista Hotel will occupy a prime
