Indian Hill Equestrian Club Cookbook — We need your recipes today!
Focusing on the equestrian heritage of Indian Hill, the IHEC Cookbook will contain historical information
about the Indian Hill bridle trails, anecdotes from long-time residents and horse people, equestrian art-
work from local artists, and recent as well as historic photographs of the many horses and riders who
enjoy the beauty of Indian Hill. The IHEC currently has 30 recipes—we need 200 total. Funds raised by the
Indian Hill Equestrian Club Cookbook will used for IH Bridle Trail maintenance and repair, consultation on
best practices for trail repair, member and community education (speakers, seminars, paid meeting
locations), and of course, some of our fun social activities. Please email your recipe(s) to one of the
Cookbook Committee Queens: Suzanne Ruehr, suzrue@yahoo.com, Margie Rennie, mren-
nie1@icloud.com, or Barb Beamer, beamerbj@gmail.com. You can also mail a copy to Ann Gibson, 9225
Shawnee Run Road, Cincinnati, OH 45243. Deadline for recipe submission is February 28, 2017.

New Bridle Trail System Takes Flight at Airport
IHEC Schedules Training Class for Riders

Using other successful airport horse trail programs as a model, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International
Airport (CVG) is welcoming Greater Cincinnati horseback riders to use and enjoy CVG's newly refurbished
horse trail system. Managed by CVG, the trail is approximately 9 miles long, has rolling hills, water
crossings, and visibly marked trails. The horse trailer parking lot is gated, asphalt, roomy, easily accessible
off of the highway and comes equipped with potable running water, a mounting block, and picnic table.
Because of the proximity to CVG, all riders who use the trails are required to have a background check and
must attend a mandatory orientation and training class, follow all the rules and regulations of riding the
CVG horse trails, be photographed, obtain a CVG issued Horseback Rider identification badge and wear this
badge at all times when riding the CVG horse trails. TSA Precheck credentials for airport security are not
valid for a trail license at CVG.

The Cincinnati/Norther Kentucky International Airport is hosting a certification training class for IHEC mem-
bers on Wednesday, April 5 at 6 p.m. at the CVG Police Station. The class is approximately 2 hours, and is
limited to 20 people. Riders will receive a lifetime pass, and may bring up to 3 guests to ride the trails. An-
other training session will be scheduled for IHEC in June. Each rider needs to fill out the appropriate paper-
work prior to attending the class. To RSVP for the training class, and receive the appropriate paperwork via
email, please email Lauren Dudzinski, lauren.dudzinski@gmail.com. The class is limited to 20 people.

IHEC Has Strong Spring Agenda for Bridle Trail Preservation Efforts

Trail Maintenance and Rider Reporting System for Blocked Trails
The winter weather has not slowed the Indian Hill Equestrian Club from its bridle trail preservation efforts.
Working with the Village of Indian Hill, IHEC’s Trail Maintenance Chairman Pete McAdams and Bill Ruehr
are working on a trail maintenance schedule, and procedures to increase communication, prioritization,
and response for trail clearing. Riders can now report downed trees, trail blockages, safety hazards, and
the need for trail markers and signage to a central email. IHEC members can check progress updates in the
Member section of our website.
Procedures:
 Riders can report trail blockages, safety hazards, the need for markers or signage, or any other issues to
ihbridletrails@gmail.com. If possible, please send a picture of the trail hazard. Please also indicate if
the trail is completely or partially blocked, or if a safety hazard (wires down, etc.).
 Locating the issue on the trail is time consuming for the Village, thereby reducing response time. Please
indicate your trail marker location (ie trail number) if available, and/or a detailed description of the lo-
cation of the trail hazard. Use MapMyRide or EquiTrail on your SmartPhone to “Tag” your location and
send the GPS tag to ihbridletrails@gmail.com. The Service Department can more easily locate the trail
    blockage with GPS coordinates.
