2 | HEAD OF PRE-PREPLocation and History
Eaton House The Manor is housed on a 1 ½ acre
site in the Grade II listed, beautiful Georgian
Byrom House at 58 Clapham Common Northside.
It was purchased by the Harper family to convert it into a school
consisting of a nursery, pre-prep school, and prep school. These
opened in September 1993, and this building also acts as a
management base for the group. A girls’ school has since
been added.
Byrom House was built c. 1792 by John Farrer for his own
occupation before it later became The Manor House School
followed by periods as the Battersea College of Domestic Science
and also part of the London South Bank University.
Facilities
Eaton House The Manor occupies a 1 ½ acre
site opposite Clapham Common.
Alongside all the traditional classrooms you would expect from
a school, the pupils also benefit from numerous additional
facilities built and developed through an extensive refurbishment
programme that was completed in 2017. There are state of
the art kitchens; large, spacious and bright dining rooms; a
purpose built nursery complete with self-contained playground;
a specialist DT lab complete with three 3-D printers, laser cutter
and vacuum formers to name a few bits of their equipment;
3 purpose built science labs; a large sports hall along with a
separate spacious gym; purpose built art rooms; and a state of
the art theatre complete with media servers and lighting decks.

feedback and reward is intrinsic in all that is done. There is a strong
culture of teachers and parents working together to ensure pupils’
welfare and our open-door policy means that parents can feel fully
involved from the outset.
