Directions From:
    Montego Bay - MBJ Sangsters International
 Leave out of Airport make a right to exit. Continue
          through the Tourist Shopping Area
      Continue approximately 4 miles to Reading
      Look for Sewage Plant to the right and then
     continue for another 3 miles approximately.
    Make a Left Turn at traffic light unto Long Hill.
 Take Long Hill to Ferris Cross Approximately 30-45
                       min drive.
  On the way to Ferris Cross you will pass through
           Anchovy, Montpelier, and Ramble
Look for Welcome to Westmoreland Sign Follow the
    new Highway through Haddo, Petersfield, and
             Add a little bit of body text
Water Works. Once you pass through Water Works
    Continue to Ferris Cross there is a Gas Station
  straight ahead. Make a right turn, keep right look
   for Ferris Cross School. DO NOT go around the
     bend. Continue Straight. Follow the road for
   approximately 1 mile. The estate will be to your
right. Look for 3 Houses on a hill. Drive through the
 gate and follow the path that is farthest to the left.
You will be greeted by our Housekeeper. Her name
    is Cherry and she will be there to help you get
   settled in and provide you with keys and a brief
 tour. Please feel free to ask her any questions you
 may have or call one of the numbers listed on the
              address and contacts page.

About the House and the Man who
            built it....
   Derval Barrington Ireland began building this
  beautiful home in September of 1992, nestled
       away in the breathtaking mountains of
 Westmoreland. The Barrington House sits on an
  eighty five acre estate that was purchased by
    the Ireland family in the early nineties. Mr.
      Ireland often reminisced of his childhood
growing up on a farm, which he loved. He owned
   a large cowherd and enjoyed caring for them
daily. Derval was born in Westmoreland, Jamaica
  to Colvin and Beryl Ireland on March 9th 1936,
 He was the first born son to the couple. He was
     the 4th child of 10. At the age of 16 Derval
   migrated from the countryside of Jamaica to
 Great Britain. Derval was to be met by his older
sister Faye who was studying Nursing in England.
  However, unbeknownst to his family Faye had
    been relocated to Canada where she would
     finish her studies. The telegram informing
 Derval’s mother of the change in plan arrived a
   few days after his departure. Fortunately his
  mother had given him the address of a family
       acquaintance, in case of an emergency.

He was instructed to contact this person in the event
  something went awry with the plan. Beryl Ireland was a
    very Intuitive woman and very religious! Though the
    adjustment was challenging; to say the least. Derval
      continued to work hard and eventually created a
  successful life for himself and grew a family of his own.
  Mr. Ireland is survived by five children who live abroad.
    Shortly before his retirement Derval and his parents
purchased the land known as Sweet River. The two homes
   next door belong to his identical twin sisters Joan and
Judith Ireland. Sweet River has been a family getaway for
  three decades and now we are sharing this sentimental
place with others. In 2018 Mr. Ireland’s grand niece Nardia
Blake-Carter began renovating the home. It is her hope to
 make The Barrington House a home away from home for
     travelers around the world. She continues to make
 improvements in effort to keep her family’s legacy alive.
We trust this little piece of paradise will become special to
    you too! Please feel free to enjoy the farm, river and
 gorgeous scenery surrounding the estate. It was Derval’s
dying wish that this home and the entire Family Estate at
Sweet River remain in the family for generations, and that
  this special place would be shared amongst family and
 friends for years to come. And...it's all starting with you.
