Inglis Riverside Stables
Inglis Riverside Stables bring
thoroughbred racing fraternity closer
to live auctions with secure Exterity IP
video and digital signage
Opened in early 2018, the A$140 million (£79.2m/€89m) Riverside
Stables complex is built on 26 acres of land overlooking Warwick
Farm Racecourse in Sydney, Australia. It aims to deliver a world-class
experience for the buying and selling of thoroughbred horses, as well
as attract new racing audiences through the adjacent luxury hotel.
The impressive sale yard features parade areas with three different
surfaces, hospitality areas next to each barn and an indoor sale arena.
The site also includes 800 stables re-using the magnificent hardwood
from the existing Newmarket stables.

The challenge
AV plays a major part of the project, especially within the Sales
Arena, designed as a versatile space with a variety of seating
options that can cater to theatre, school, classroom and banquet
options. The arena is overlooked by ‘The Gallery’, which features
nine VIP suites that can be used as breakout areas or an additional
private meeting room including the latest AV equipment, access to
three televisions screens and high-speed internet.
To offer live video feeds from the stables to the sales arena, Inglis
sought external expertise from highly regarded proAV specialist
The P.A. People, one of Australia’s largest suppliers of installed
audio, video, performance lighting, control, and production
communications systems. The solution
The P.A People provided a perfect platform for this project, with an
Exterity IPTV system at its heart, as Chris Dodds, Managing Director
at The P.A. People explains: “One of the key requirements that we
needed to deliver was the lowest possible audio and video latency,
which is vital for an auctioning activity where timing is critical.
The solution also needed to be flexible enough to work with the
network infrastructure which uses Gigabit-capable Passive Optical
Networks (GPON) across the entire site.”
The project was essentially split into two parts with a traditional
hospitality IP video and VoD solution for the onsite hotel, and a
more advanced IP video network for the sales arena and wider
facility that mixes several different audio and video technologies,
including Dante audio over IP audio distribution and AMX Audio “Exterity is at the heart of the

be secure. “In this respect, Exterity was one of the few vendors Chris Dodds,
Managing Director
that has delivered HDCP Pro across its entire portfolio, and at The P.A. People
this allowed us to seamlessly deliver an encrypted solution that
would meet all the requirements of the cable TV provider and its
premium content channels.”
